| Is dating easier within your own Religion?
Posted: 11/2/2009 6:26:55 AM | | How important is it toward the goal of a long term relationship, is both people being of the same Religion. Or religious background. Some people may be non-practicig in their religion, but their history in based in that concept. So is it easier for people to date if they are from the same religion? Thoughts? | |

Personally, I could not "get it up" if I was with any kind of fundermentalist. When they screamed "OH JESUS," or "OH GOD," I would be afraid that they are actually calling on them for help. | |

For instance, many religions don't strongly affect adherents' day-to-day lives in any significant way, but certain denominations of Christianity dictate who you can date, how sexual you are allowed to be, etc. Some religons explicitly prohibit dating or marriage outside the faith. I am personally agnostic, so it only affects me from the other person's point of view. | |

Posted: 11/17/2009 1:28:18 PM | YES... it's easier. Stick to your own kind. It's not a matter of what RELIGION they are.. it's a matter of "upbringing" I was married to a guy who was 100% Dutch. They were basically reformed Christian. Protestant. I'm Irish Catholic. You would think it's about the same right??? Well, Catholics vs even straight Christians are different. Catholics are more about being the "do gooders" or about "morals" Whereas Christians are straight from the Bible. It's the one thing they did wrong in the Catholic church. Especially me growing up and going to CCD.... We never really learned from the bible.
Anyhow, bottom line.... It's not about the religion (i'm sure in some cases where we are talking a more extreme differences) it's more so about the upbringing.
Also, word of advice, if your parents are married. TRY to find someone whose parents are also married. THAT is a big difference in upbringing too. NOT ALWAYS the case to stick to that kind. But generally speaking, we are talking two different animals! | |

Scary thing is, I know everything I do wrong in finding someone, but yet I always seem to find the ones who need to be fixed, then I get hurt..... grrrrr... what do i know?! | |

Posted: 11/18/2009 3:41:49 AM | Well...some relationship people say we are drawn to people that have an attribute or attributes that we are missing. It does not mean that every person that has a corresponding piece to make our puzzle a whole picture...is the right one. It may fit....it just may be for another puzzle.
What I mean, I guess, is that finding someone involves meeting people..and unfortunately...weeding thru the ones that don't work for you. You will eventually find someone that meshes with you just right. You just have to keep that smile ready for something real that may happen while you are searching for the right guy! | |

But the sucky thing about that for me is that I really don't have any friends to hang with. (except my meetup.com people) and most of them are older... and it's getting old!!! And I live south of Chicago (and stuck here cause I can't sell the house) .... i don't know... I just hit a lot of walls trying to do things. I LOVE going to my turf in NW Chicagoland... but the drive kills me all the time! | |
