| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 9:22:23 AM | We have had some strange threads on this forum of late the majority of which have since dissappeared, also back in the day a lot more jokey threads were allowed.
I personally feel there is room for both kind, but which do you prefer?
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 9:29:37 AM | | I tend to prefer the threads that descend into childish name calling and the trading of personal insults. The subject matter is of little or no importance as far As I'me concerned . | |
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 9:30:00 AM | I think theres room for both jokey and serious threads on here. Not everyone wants to get involved in the nitty gritty political debates and its not everyones cup of tea to discuss the intricacies of their bathroom habits. I myself tend to hover towards the latter type because i'm facetious and have nothing relevant to say on anything | |
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 9:32:56 AM | to be honest I find the rules on this site a little pretentious..........It's a dating site ...not an intellectual debate society........if people want to put up jokey threads where people can have a laugh, maybe even flirt a little.......what's so wrong with that?
It annoys me when I see threads on taking a dump in front of your partner running for days, yet just because someone hasn't researched back for the past decade and posts a topic that bears a slight resemblance to one that hasn't been added to for years it gets deleted......makes no sense to me.
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 9:33:06 AM | I have a feeling this thread may go the same way. I was here when the jokey threads were tollerated, but it was too much for the mods to deal with when things quite often got out of hand and there were a hell of a lot more trolls (some of which I see are still here in their various guises) in those days. I miss those threads, but I don't miss the lengthy bans dished out as a result.
The mods will tell you that joke threads go in the humo(U)r forum and no where else

| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 9:41:38 AM | How can this be a "Forum Protest"? There are some weird people around.
It's like girly shoes OP. There can never be enough variety and there should be something for every occassion. I've noticed a dearth of jokey threads recently and a few more would be welcomed. And as we have our own particular 'brand' of humour in the UK it's pertinent that the humour is on our forum.
As for the serious stuff - well that's valid too - it impacts upon our world and some people like to discuss it - just as some people like to confine their 'small talk' to Bella and Corrie and footie.
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 9:41:44 AM | A forum protest OMG you deleters are so pathetic, please show me where i am protesting
Personally i prefer the more lighthearted threads, as i come of the forum for a little bit of light relief and not to debate, but im happy that there is a cross section.

Same here!
I like beating the mods to those threads which have been thus reported, just so I can wallow in the flames....even if it's 5000 miles away.
How can this be a "Forum Protest"?
I suspect because it mentions threads which were deleted, regardless of the reason. The OP had no need to mention that.
Don't blame me, btw....I don't have the voting option at present.

I enjoy the current affairs ones most of all, but some of the jokey ones are brilliant.
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 10:24:25 AM | I think the balance was just right about 2 yrs ago and before where there was some serious good debates going on but also where some more light hearted threads were let through which kinda balanced things out.
I find I'm very limited now in expressing my own opinion as I wish to in my posts /threads compared to how I once could. I wont mention the 3 days I got in the cooler last week for attempting to do so !!

| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 10:31:28 AM | I like the jokey threads best but can I put in a request for more sex based topics? There just arent enough and I dont enjoy venturing into the sex and sexuality forum because its full of American perverts. If I wanted to communicate with someone like that I would email my cousin in Virginia. | |
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 10:34:42 AM | Its funny you say that sjxx, the thread that i will never forget was sexytrish's anal sex one, someone should try go find it if it didnt get deleted, it was about four pages long, so maybe it got closed but it was a classic | |
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 10:39:27 AM | ^^ Sounds painful,no wonder her anal one got closed
I prefer the light hearted threads, less 'arguements' seem to happen on them
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 11:06:27 AM | I prefer the Friday/Saturday night after/with alcohol threads.
I haven't had a good belly laugh in absolutely ages and I certainly could do with one, especially now that the even colder, wetter weather is upon us.
As some of you may have noticed, I haven't posted for a while and then, only rarely. It just goes to show..............
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 11:07:38 AM | | I think there is room for both.I like the more serious topics as they give you something to get your teeth into and i also love the fun, jokey threads as it,s nice to have a bit of frivolity to forget all the doom and gloom for a while. Some of the jokey threads have been hilarious and deteriorated into utter silliness which has been absolutely fab! | |

| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 11:15:31 AM | I wish I had time to read all the threads but alas I haven't..
A good post exchange with points for you and against you are just banter that lightens up the day. The injection of good humour within the thread posts makes for a better thread in my view..
Its good to have a serious laugh...
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 11:19:57 AM | I like a good mix of serious discussion and lighthearted banter.
The problem (to some people) with banter is they confuse it with war and take it way too seriously, and if you're a mod that's a difficult situation to deal with: Do you wait for the sense-of-humour bypasses to reverse themselves, or do you call a halt before it has a chance to descend into all out armageddon? I guess you have to try to consider how newbies will interpret what's going on. If new people think it's a troll forum, they'll either troll or leave, neither of which you really want. Tough call.

to flippin right....why carn`t we moan about the opposite sex(or lack of)..or have a laugh..
i would like to see a ladies only thread...where men could only look and not post.now that would be funny. drunken saturday night posts are the funniest..but you never see them on a sunday morning(a bit like my dates.)
when you see peoples SOH on posts and new threads...it does show you their personalty........and that is a good thing.
after all..
this is a dating site...i think
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 12:11:07 PM | I like a mixture too. I like a good serious thread, because they are often funnier than the others. And I like the light hearted ones too! I read most of them, even if I've got nothing to add, because I like to see how people think. It is very entertaining!

| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 12:31:40 PM | I really enjoy a bit of banter as long as no one is taking it to heart, then I don't see a problem. Maybe there should be a new kind of thread deletion, which waits for a time after the final post then deletes, that way it wouldn't clog up the archives with stuff that isn't worth keeping, but we could still have that kind of interaction if we wanted.
I've had my voting privileges removed... don't know how long they'd been gone when I noticed, but I can only think it's because I've voted too keep threads in the past that the mods didn't agree with.
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 12:33:16 PM | I posted a thread a few days ago, regarding that 71 yo Brit that was on the papers for having a 25 yo wife who has just given him twins and about a man in Somalia, 112 marrying a girl of 17 (and he's already got a number of wife and kids) saying he wanted to settle down with this new wife. I thought it was a good Friday morning joke on randy golden oldies. Bang. Zapped. Gone. Bum. I didn't understand why (this stuff was on major papers , bbc etc) but just thought how odd and moved on. I think we just missed an opportunity for a bit of a joke.
I've never been suspended, banned, warned etc but I'm not sure that's even worth imposing as such. All those rules... I always thought that if someone is out of order then yes, ban by all means but it's gotta be a harassment thing. For the rest, I wouldn't bother; let the difficult people be ignored or antagonised depending on the mood of posters; after all if there are clowns, it's good to laugh at their comedy.
I prefer open current affair debate or flirty stuff and I think there's some of both too here.
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 12:33:44 PM | I like the funny ones i have been in tears at times on here, but of late its been boring ..... Why do we not have as many forums as the usa. I do miss the old style chat rooms. Friday nights get a giggle out of me ......... | |
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 12:42:21 PM | shame we couldnt have a no holds barred thread where the rules went out the window on that thread lol imagine it on a fri/sat night after the pubs had shut and never pulled
the sex threads bore me to death as cannot think why as a adult why you would want to share info about your behavour or indeed your bits.
edit. yeah ive seen them to and had me sides splitting, its a bit like lord of the flies ...
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 12:49:55 PM | shame we couldnt have a no holds barred thread where the rules went out the window on that thread I've been on sites where that has been tried and although the theory seems sound, what tends to happen is people still take it too seriously and animosities spill over into all the other sections. Pity really because it's fun to watch even if you don't want to participate, until it gets out of hand. I'm assuming as this is a basically free site the mods are unpaid volunteers? If that's the case, you couldn't really expect someone to be on call all the time to constantly move/edit/delete posts that are in the wrong place. | |
|
| THREAD PREFERENCE Posted: 11/3/2009 4:59:20 PM | my pleasure in the forums has long gone.... i got picked on and all the fun disappeared.
anything under 2 lines is ok with me, i dont care about the subject.
