What are you looking for in a relationship !
I always tell them the truth.....I want a woman that knows the words to the partridge family theme song......and sings it as we go on a nationwide crime spree.
Also she must own a fire breathing dragon, and serve me breakfast, lunch and dinner in lingerie.
After hearing this only a few stay around !
My point is....this question force a guy to lie !
Would you rather him tell you he's someone he's not, or just figure him out as you go ? | |

I think it is a reasonable question to ask of a man/woman; as it will weed out anyone who's not seeking the same in a relationship. | |

I'm not a girl nor do I wear girl's clothing, but from my angle honesty is always best. But truth in small doses. And what I mean by that is, never lie or mislead, but don't give away the farm all at once. Nobody could possibly handle my complete "bio" all at once, and from what I can tell, that goes for everyone.
I might have to use the Partridge Family theme + crime spree example some day on a woman I'm not interested in, just to see how that feels.

it's a legit question. whether the other person is deluded or not. if she's not, i find whether we're potentially on the same page. if she is, i want to know that too. either way, it takes a little time to find out. | |

Posted: 11/5/2009 12:58:51 PM | I can honestly state that I have never asked that question. I find that his actions tell me so much more than a canned response to a dreaded question ever could.
What we do when we are together, if he introduces me to friends/family, the general conversations we have, how he interacts with my friends and family, etc all give a better indication of what direction we may be headed in while we have the opportunity to learn more about each other. | |

okay....so if he 'seems' to be a fairly normal...and relatively nice man...and not carrying an axe or any other weapons on the date.....
I ask: What's wrong with you? ---- I mean...you seem normal...so why are you not taken?
I think that is a valid question.....then he usually spills the beans and I get the full story about the broken relationships...the cheaters...the cheated on...blah blah blah...the issues with the dying parents, the horrible childhood...the Ex who wiped him out financially.... the whole thing just spills.
