I love the new Slayer album, "World Painted Blood." It is a decent Thrash Affair with The Title Track and "Public Display of Dismemberment" being my two favorite tunes. The lyrics, as usual, are beyond hateful and henceforth analogous to anything Slayer has spat in albums past.

From New York Magazine: "If Black Sabbath Is The Bride of Satan, Slayer is his trusty whore-they do it faster and more consistently."

Meh, Slayer never has and I think never will do anything for me. Hell Awaits and Reign in Blood are good releases, but I quickly tired of their boxed in nature and narrow view of things. And Kerry King really does nothing to impress me on guitar.

I heard about Slayer coming out with a new album from my brother, who's actually a big Slayer fan, so I had to check out a few songs off of it to see how it is this time around.

Don't get me wrong, I like Slayer, but their new album seems a little "tame" this time around for some reason, but I guess it has to do with all the European metal I've been downloading lately. I'd still buy the album, but I think their other albums are so much better (With Seasons In The Abyss being my all time favorite Slayer album; South of Heaven coming in second).

Same here. I stopped paying attention to Slayer after the mid 90's. IMO their peak was Seasons in the Abyss. Anybody who can play "war ensemble" is a sick **stard of thrash who has my utmost respect. Probably my fav song of theirs.

I listened to it once, I quite like it but then that goes without saying. It's probably the best they've done in 15 years but that's not too difficult is it? I wont be buying it any time soon, but I did buy the Hate Worldwide single.

'Seasons' used to be my favourite, probably because it was the first one I heard. Nowadays 'Reign In Blood' is my favourite. Awesome album.

Eh, Slayer has always felt so pedestrian to me. It's a band that people love just because there slayer. They are the Fall Out Boy of thrash metal. Personally I always thought Kreator, Coroner, Destruction, and Overkill were/are some of the best thrash metal.

Slayer is well known but I wouldn't call them pedestrian (at least their old stuff). 2 of my fav thrash albums/bands are Dark Angels "time does not heal" and Forbiddens "twisted into form".

Surely that goes to either Metallica or Megadeth?

Mate, from what I remember 'Darkness Descends' tops 'Time..'

..Vulcano - Bloody Vengeance. That's some bloomin' good Thrash. Check it if you dont know it.

No, Metallica is the band led by a dumbass guitarist and a drummer whos not good enough to be a band leader. I meant that Slayer is the Fall Out Boy of metal in the since that, since every moronic teenage girl loves fall out boy, so does every jackass douchebag with ghastly body odor yell "****IN' SLAYER!!" at every metal show I've ever been to.

I plan on getting the album real soon because what I've heard already is an indication on how good the album is gonna be. Its pretty awesome that they've been going more and more back to their classic roots as of late. Slayer Rules!!!!!!!!!

I see where you are coming from, I thought you were getting at them being kind of a 'do no wrong' boyband type thing.

I dont think I am a jackass douchebag, but I do really like Reign in Blood and I suppose everything Slayer did upto/including Divine Intervention. 'Seasons' was part of my Metal upbringing, so will always be important to be.

I doubt they'll ever release anything I really like again. I have Absu - Tara as my 'noughties' Slayer replacement anyway... better drumming!
