| The Book of Time Posted: 11/6/2009 8:14:09 PM | Opening the book of time, one more time Pages of time, engraved in my mind Worn old pages, all tattered and yellow
The house of my childhood, memories twirling Closing my eyes to remember, the smell of old wood Stained glass windows, french doors, curved staircase
My cozy little room, overlooking the garden The claw foot bathtub, a lake to a little girl A kitchen old and cozy, delicious smells, in the air
Mom smiling, a plate of peanut butter cookies, holding A little girl(me) playing quietly, on the front porch Long dark hair in tangles, rosy cheeks, funny smile
Grannie rocking and rocking, all day knitting Dad busy, in the yard, humming a tune Chubby baby brother, in his carriage, perfect
A little table set for tea, dolls sitting pretty Real tea pot and china cups, a gift from Grannie Kitty cat sleeping soundly in the sun, purring
I walk the shady street of my memory The big hill, where sometimes I rode my bike At the end of the street, a park, lush and green
In the park, a pond, where water lilies float And majestic swans, drift by, so peaceful Hours, spent hanging over the edge, hands seeking
Closing the book of time, one more time Pages of time, engraved in my mind Worn old pages, all tattered and yellow | |
