| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 1:43:45 PM | I found this quote interesting and was wondering about others opinions. Lets Not consider beatings, drug abuse, or extreme mental illness as the "worst".
"If you can't take me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best."
Its attributed to Marilyn Monroe. Of course, her best was pretty damn hot!

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 1:53:58 PM | | The problem is that many people do not have something that is really really good about them and it is somthing that is standing out. They may have good qualities but many other may have them, too. But there worst can be pretty bad, too. | |
|
| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 1:54:22 PM | The duality and double negative are the two things are stick out the most for me. The duality is in terms of take and deserve as well as best and worst. I suppose the two uses of "not" in the sentence are useful as if one takes them out the sentence becomes slightly different:
"If you can take me at my worst, then you do deserve me at my best."
That implies a reward while the other is more of a necessary but not sufficient condition to my mind.
Just a little philosophical am I at times.

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 2:13:34 PM | | Was Merilyn Monroe bipolar? Guess what I just did a search and in fact she was. Having dealt with others who were bipolar I think I would take a pass on Merilyn due to the fact there are too many extremes if she stoped taking her medicine. That was the problem I encounter with two others I knew that has the condition, nothing wrong with being friends with them but very difficult living with someone 24/7 | |

"If you can't take me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best."
The quote speaks to me of acceptance for who I am....all of me. I don't really want someone who only loves part of me, I want someone who will love all of me.....I have found him and I'm content.
The quote also reminds us that no one person is perfect....we all have our good/bad qualities that are defined that way subjectively by those who know us.

"If you can't take me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best." I like that...
My best friend has seen me at my worst... he's held me through heartache and tears and he's applauded my triumphs and accomplishments. As much as I would love to engage in a relationship with the man because of the genuine love that is there for him... I'll forego the relationship and keep the friendship...
Now to find someone that will simply tolerate me...

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 2:17:20 PM | | The sentiment in general is fine, one I would accept as axiomatic, acknowledging that if you can't stick it out with someone you supposedly care about thru the bad times you aren't worthy of being there for the good. But as it specifically applied to Marilyn Monroe, from everything I ever read about her, she was a lost, unhappy soul who's life was a train wreck, drifting from relationship to relationship in search of fulfillment. I'm not too sure she ever had many "at her best" days. That being said, she was one gorgeous woman! | |

She was nothing hot...sorry... Especially in today's world... She'd get a 5 out of 10, with all the lights and fake sex symbol persona. With a whoppin size 16.... they'd boo her fat azz off the stage...
pleeeaassssee.... | |

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 2:20:46 PM | That sounds rather spoiled and petulant to me. I'd say-- stop being your worst; no one likes you like that. No, I don't "deserve" you. | |

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 2:24:15 PM | If it's a penny for your thoughts, why do you have to put in two cents???
 | |

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 2:37:06 PM | Well it certainly sounds good. Especially coming from someone like Marilyn because folks will automatically think about the way she looks and think that her looking her worst - just woke up hungover from being pissy drunk last night with hair disarray, sleep in her eye, spittle from her mouth, make-up smeared, and sitting by the toilet looking dazed out- looks better on her than any regular woman on her best made-up day.
So for us regular folks, my question is 'how bad is your worst and is accepting your best gonna cover it?' Your best might be mediocre or not that dam great, and your worst might be too much to put up with.
Some quotes are nice because they sound good but folks usually don't take the time or thought to analyze them that much. Speaking of quotes, one of my favorite...
Truth came to the market and could not be sold. People buy lies with ready cash. ...
YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!
I'm ready for my close-up Mr. Demille.... but not too close. It could get ugly...

"If you can't take me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best."
If a person dwells in their "worst" and seeks attention (attention whores/drama queen/king) in their "worst", there could never be a "Best".... making such a plea redundant.Besides, didn't she flirt with the president while standing directly in front of the president's wife? Was that her worst, or best?
If that statement came from a more reputable person, I'd give it more thought.
|
| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 2:49:17 PM | | Nope...i dont tolerate anyone's .."worst"...in my life....it's usually a sign they dont have their life together...and...probably wont...but then....crazy attracts...crazy... | |
|
| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 2:55:52 PM | Sounds more like an ultimatum, a warning... perhaps a threat... I mean... how ugly is 'your worst' going to be?
Sounds like a wall that is being put up... a shield to keep others away...yikes... I mean... who wants to go thru all the drama and trauma with expectations that there will be 'a best'.
do any of us really have that much time an energy to exert on someone else... do you want to invest in someone that is that needy and demanding?

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 3:24:48 PM | That's like the 2nd person to call Marilyn fat. Wow. Mainstream (read: White) beauty is so limited. No wonder a lot of young white girls have eating disorders now and getting their boobs ballooned to outlandish proportions.
I think Marilyn was physically beautiful in her Norma Jean days and her Mariyn days. All of the 50's pin-ups were - beautiful, fleshy, curvy. You can't deny that pic of Raquel Welch in her animal cloth bikini wasn't a dam-good looking pic - and I believe she had to be about a size 10 or 12 or above. She looks it. And these women look a helluva lot better and sexy than today's stars - which I think are the ones from Baywatch right? Pam Anderson and Nichole Eggert and the sort? And the 50's pin-ups look better than a lotta models, just not as tall.
Julia Roberts and that chick from 'Speed' are nice, but they aren't the kind of stars that Marily was. And so far they haven't posed nude. Posing nude is not a requirement, but I'm just sayin. That seems to be par for the course that major and not-so-major stars eventually pose nude for Playboy. I've seen some pics that were in the 50's and 60's Playboy, and besides not having enough 'color' - the women were pretty nice then. Nicer than in these recent years of PB. JMHO.

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 3:35:57 PM | My worst is my best and at my best I am too fantastic for words and if peeps can't handle that they don't deserve to be in the same room with me.

Love your posts! | |

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 5:42:01 PM | It doesn't work with everyone cos some are an a** from the beginning to the end haha
Again, am not convinced with this statement, at my age group I don't want to wait for the other to shine later. I think one should give their best from the beginning and let it flourish all the way. None of this I will smile is you say something funny bs LOL

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/7/2009 5:48:27 PM | "If you can't take me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best."
It speaks the Truth even more so for some people with the way things are going now for them.

You can't deny that pic of Raquel Welch in her animal cloth bikini wasn't a dam-good looking pic Sure I can. She was damn hot in that. Sorry for picking on the obviously inadvertant double negative.
Mainstream (read: White) beauty is so limited. Yeah... I don't get it. I mean when it comes to ribs, I wanna see 'em on my plate at the dinner table, not in my bed. I don't get what people find so attractive about the starvation look.

| Your two cents worth...... Posted: 11/8/2009 5:44:33 AM | Thanks everyone for your insight! To "The Reason": (If it's a penny for your thoughts, why do you have to put in two cents???) Consider this a "high end" question! Its worth the extra.........did you want change?? | |

Because people who put in their two cents always say more than is wanted!
