| | Overrated Bands.Page 1 of 14 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) | We've had a good thread on underrated bands. Now lets start the debate on who you think gets way to much hype for the amount of talent they have. But no over bashing other POFer's now...let's be civil.
1. The Tradically Hip - dull, dull, dull and none of the music behind their dull lyrics has any flair.
2. The Rolling Stones - I like The Stones, but for the amount of talent they have a musicians their get too much hype for the actual quality of there songs.
3. AC/DC - Ever since "Back In Black" these guys just keep spitting out albums where each song sounds the same as the last. Nowhere near as good as the albums with Bon Scott. They don't write songs like "A Whole Lot Of Rosey" and "Big Balls" , or "It's A Long Way To The Top" anymore. | |

A lot of the early songs sounded alike, too. Very chord based rock, as opposed to the riff stuff on Back in Black. I never hear about them anymore, so I don't see how they are overrated. Besides, just because a band doesn't know when to hang it up doesn't mean they are overrated. It just means their fan base won't admit they have fallen from their glory days. I would think you would only want to consider bands who were overrated in their heyday. Otherwise you would have to throw in acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Axel's version of G&R, and Bob Dylan who lost his ability to sing 20 years ago. And yes, he could before then.
I'll say
1) Kiss. I mean really - they're a cartoon, not a rock band.
2) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The songs are catchy, but they wear thin very quickly.
3) Green Day. They are kind of the Rocky Marciano of Rock. They are good simply because the competition is so weak. | |

1. Nirvana! - Kurt Cobains death is what made the band so popular.
2. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - under the bridge? More like over the hill, nothing red hot about them in my opinion.
3. Nickelback - most songs sound exactly the same. Different lyrics, same tune. | |

Coldplay. Coldplay are the sound of a used taxi driver's condom dripping onto a bag of chips left lying in a gutter. Only with less talent.

Yeah, he has a nice sounding voice but that's about it. He doesn't sound any better than most people singing in the shower from what I hear.

Posted: 11/25/2009 7:08:01 AM | Def Leppard - again a band that had two real goods album when they started (On Through The Night and High'n'Dry) and then Pyromania was pretty good, and then they left their roots and became a form of bubble gum to sell records and all the songs sound the same. They should of kept writing songs like Rock Brigade, and High'n'Dry.
Nickelback - I'm with you on this one too. But I do like the song about breaking in to his old school. It's "Photograph" right? Funny that's the title of a Def Leppard song. | |

| Overrated Bands. Posted: 11/25/2009 8:29:41 AM | So many to choose from...lol 1. Coldplay - Totally suck. They are one of those bands that women like so they can say they like "rock". Only reason they get any press is because the vocalist is married to Gwyneth Paltrow.
2. Nirvana - Turns out the most talented guy in that band was drummer Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters fame. Had a couple catchy songs with some pop hooks and a good indy producer in Butch Vig. They came along at the right time. I knew about a dozen garage bands in the Seattle area at that time that were better.
3. Aerosmith - Turned into Top 40 crap. Haven't done anything decent since the late 70's. Another band that women like so they can say they like "rock".
Honorable mention: U2 with the self-important Bono. Bassist and band enforcer Adam Clayton needs to do a better job of keeping him grounded. Def Leppard, peaked with High n' Dry. Turned into Top 40 teen girl pop rock crap after that.

Nirvana - now I love nirvana but they only released two major record label albums, and they where going to break up if cobain did not kill himself anyways (no spam for him getting murdered please.) i mean ya Nirvana was a amazing band, not really the most strong guitar driven but solid for what they had, best of the ninedees not by a long shot.
three days grace - where to begin.... these guys are not really extrordinary musicians lets drop d tune and ride the E while screaming and being bad assss. nuff said | |

Rush - I like Rush but really, other than "2112" and "Moving Pictures" all the rest of their albums had 2 or 3 good songs...Neil Peart is an amazing drummer, and Getty is great on the bass but they can't write songs to save their red and white butts. | |

Metallica. Just quit it. That band could sell blank CD's and people would still buy it. Oh, and Lars, please get a real drum kit. That toy one just doesn't cut it ,reminds me of the Duracell bunny's drum. | |
