How much is your fish profile like the real you? Do you act differently in the forums as you do in real life? On line I tend to come across as a pushy, bossy, beatch. In real life i'm much worse. This seems to be a good outlet for the alter-ego we sometimes keep locked up. Are you a Clark Kent or a Superman, on-line that is.?

at this and like your honesty!

In real life,id say im a much nicer person than i sound in the Forums.
I usually like to cut to the chase here and state my opinion bluntly.
Whereas IRL,im much more sensitive and caring.........

100% me, and you must never touch the squid.

Do you act differently in the forums as you do in real life?

You mean this is not real life?

We are not really here and this is all pretend?

So why are there not more unicorns?

Are you a Clark Kent or a Superman, on-line that is.?

No, although I do from time to time rock the Peter Parker hair cut.

My profile is pretty straight-forward, just as I am in real life. It's short, sweet and to the point.

I regularly change the background on my page. I like variety and usually choose one that is from other season or far-off holiday just to be goofy. . . The one with hot dogs always makes me laugh/smile.

I don't know how closely my online persona resembles real life... we are all delusional to some degree online & IRL. Some think I've got a hard shell and gooey middle... I think my online personality just reveals a little more than would come up in casual conversation IRL, but half the people who know me online don't even read the forums, so they don't know that side of me. The profile is pretty accurate in my opinion... it just depends on what kind of day I've had... some days a spade is just a friggin shovel and someone took the other half of the glass...

My profile used to be quite accurate till I hooked up with my fiance. Seeings how you have to have a profile to use the forums I changed it to be a little lighter. My posts usually reflect me though, I tend to try to be humorous. (I said try to be). It's also a good place to vent if your day sucked.

lol, I am pretty much the same dude. I pretty much about what my profile states and that's encouraging folks to chase whatever goals they have. One thing though, I wouldn't normally let complete strangers know what I'm "thinking". The only time I would do that was if i had to, and that's work. Other than that what you see in forums from me is what you would see in real life.

I'm almost exactly the way I'm represented in my profile and forum posts. I'm usually pretty linear minded, have a high emotional threshhold and tend to like common sense, reality and logic. I also don't sugar coat much of anything - I'm not rude, but I'm blunt. Those who know me don't pay any attention to it.

What I say on the forums represents the "real me," but the way I speak in real life isn't quite the same. I sometimes think when I reread old posts that I come across as pompous and humourless. That's my writing style, however, for better or worse.

The 'me' I present here and in my profile is as 'real' as I can be, but certainly doesn't show all my aspects.

In real life I may well engage in the types of conversations I participate in on the forums, but there's a whole lot more to me than that. And like anyone I'd hope to meet, a profile can't possible capture everything.

I don't think any of us can be objective enough to present ourselves in a profile as others perceive us, and if you asked the ten people who know us best to describe us I'm sure although there would be certain commonalities that each description would vary quite a bit as well.

I do think forum posts allow all of us to see another dimension of each other beyond the verbal and visual snapshot our profiles present. From the feedback I've received from those I've met in person, I don't think anyone feels deceived by anything I've written, but many find aspects of 'me' that weren't obvious to them online.

Oh I'm definitely that 4-eyed, bumbling, nerdy, unheroic Clark Kent online and IRL; I accept this about myself, and would not try to diguise it.

So I worked hard to try to make the profile reflect the real me. It's not real wordy cuz you can't put everything about yourself into one page. HOPEFULLY.

How I act in the forums has been evolving over time to become both more like IRL, and less like IRL, because some RL behaviors are pointless here. For example, bullying behavior. It sickens me. Whereas in real life, I will go after a bully and take him/her down -- doesn't work here. Online it winds up just being an addition to the overall negativity.

p.s. VVV Miss M, you're a favorite of mine. Me & my S/O read your stuff and laugh our asses off. Although I don't try to hide anything, I'm still a private person, if that makes sense. So although I've made advances in living my life without secrecy or apology, you're a good reminder of how far I still have to go. I have friends, family & un-friend coworkers who know I'm on POF and I just can't make myself comfortable with the idea of letting them all know details about my sexual history, etc.

I think I am as much "me" as can come across in print.
Not sure my humor/smarta$$ ways and sometimes sincerity comes through as well in print as in real life tho.

I don't talk about anything here that I wouldn't talk in about IRL.
And my profile is a pretty accurate look at who I am........simple and to the point.

I am just as goofy with as much lame-o fortune cookie advice offline
as I am online.
Any success at suave smoothness,
is merely the result of blatant obliviousness to my true self.

And hey, it's workin for me.

Apparently, it's more obvious when one knows me in real life, that I like to joke around a lot. Several people have told me I come across as near humorless in the forums. I tried to leave out the obvious crud in my profile, that I see too much of elsewhere, like that I like jokes. Other than that, I have no idea. I only wish I could say I was secretly rich!

I would let the real me step forward, but apparently I lost the key to the lock and she's getting kinda snippy being locked in the basement - mumbling to herself and she kind of scares me. pssshhhhh

Ahhhh - there's that dry humor most don't get. Actually, I'm the same in real life as online. Some say sweet, some say biotch. Depends on the day to be honest. If I've had a rough day at work (and honestly my days can be ummm interesting) it'll show in how I post and my threshold for BS; if I have had a good day that'll also show. If the moon is full or I haven't had my quota of chocolate that'll also show in my posts... so yeah, like real life.

My profile is exactly like me..........all 5 of them (NOTE: I only put up ONE at a time....).

I am the same person that posts in the forums, though and true to what my one to one personal contact is. Whether it's good or bad, never been called a fake.

My profile should be accurate. It is pointless to lie, because you will eventually get caught.

Are we stating in terms of listed hobbies or our descriptions? Both are accurate. As a matter of fact, I have a paragraph typed in my profile about how getting to know someone is much better when a meeting takes place because for the most part too many people tend to drop too much nonsense.

I didn't bother describing myself because I don't want to be bothered with the same generic babble that 95% of people have written on their profiles, in which some of it is utter crap.

Had it not been for these forum rules, I believe a lot of us would be more brutal than what we display.

No, I'm not the 'real' me when I post in the forums. When I first joined and discovered them, I was the 'real' me. Cracking people up and stuff. Then, I was sent to banned camp for being too "chatty" and "off topic", so I had to conform and morph into this opinion-based bot.

My profile is accurate and honest. The problem I am having is that some do not like the truth or least my honesty.

My profile is very accurate but my forum posts can vary....

Sometimes in rl I show more compassion....

Sometimes I show much less....

It's funny, because I can write about something forever and sometimes even talk or listen for hours....but the minute I'm bored, everything shuts down and I've been known (although, it's gotten better) to actually just turn and walk away from a conversation if really bored. I do try not to be so rude now in regards to that...it's just my mind has to be constantly stimulated. I can read, watch tv and have a conversation at the same time and keep up with all three....so my compassion in real life changes from day to day ....topic to topic.

Whining I can't handle...here or in Real life....so that's when I am truly at my worst :$

my profile is sort of a reflection of me.

i can be a little aggressive, loud, or emotional at times in real life. Otherwise, basically i live a simple life as my profile indicates.
