I also play scrabble on facebook. There it's a big deal some people playing dirty scrabble. They post that they will not play the game with you unless it involves dirty chat. And these are suburban housewives. When questioned, they see nothing wrong with it. Is this a form of cheating? | |

For another thing, cheating is a word with more than one meaning. Like adultery, deception, or rule-breaking.
If a husband knows his wife's sexting or dirty scrabbling and he thinks it's a harmless amusement, then it wouldn't be cheating. IMO.

If horniness can't be directed to a SO, or to porn, or to something harmless....
there will be trouble down the road.
Involving others....

Actually the game is just regular scrabble. But you can chat while playing, that's the dirty part. I am not a fan of that kind of game myself, guess I may be a bit of a prude when it comes to certain things. | |

Posted: 11/19/2010 6:28:50 PM | I see it as being cheating if one is messaging someone else sex messages. I mean,,,where did it all start? They just randomly picked a number and started texting? At some point, they had to have initial contact that led to sexting.
I feel the same way that Baubo does- I wouldn't say or do anything that I wouldn't say or do with my SO around. Text the SO sex messages if thats someone's thing.

IMO only if one of the sexters feels it is wrong or taboo and is actively hiding it from , and lying about it to, their SO.
If it's open and honest and what they do for fun, not cheating.
I would think by the time someone became an SO they would know why the other person spends so much time texting while masturbating. Especially at restaurants. Texting while out at a restaurant is rude.
Oh wait, you say it's online chat rooms with scrabble.
Then it's not sexting, it's cybering.
Is this a form of cheating?
If actively hidden, lied about, and if it feels wrong yet still done anyway, it's "cheating." IMO. | |

This I agree with 100 percent. But the key word in this sentence is " contact". Is typing dirty words on a monitor or phone a form of " contact"? | |

Cheating is a broad term(for instance, someone may view watching porn as cheating), but yeah it's cheating. I don't know one person who is not in an "open" relationship will stand for someone talking to dirty to their mate. I am willing to bet these "housewives" husbands don't know about this. | |

This thread is NOT about me or anyone I know personally. The idea came to me after I remembered an article all over the sporting news a few weeks ago about a famous married quarterback sexting pictures of a certain part of his body to a woman from a team he used to play for. In that context to me it's obviously cheating or the intent to cheat which caused him to do this. So I would view sexting as most certainly a form of cheating.
Playing scrapple while talking dirty to someone you will never ever meet in real life I have a little more problem with. I'm thinking that may be closer to watching porn than cheating. Still on the fence on the dirty scrabble. | |
