heyo, I've been on pof for almost a year now and JUST realized there were forums... yea epic fail, i know.

anyways, if anyone browsing stumbles upon this, check my prof out and give me your opinion (objective or subjective either works).

i won't be so trite and cliché as to say my prof is for female eyes only, but yea i do value a girl's view more ;-)

How has your hunt for maturity been going with that shirt on your profile pic? Waiting for the ladies to chime in.. I know your at south beach but in Seattle that won't fly.

Cheers,

my apologies, the caption for the pic did not get saved properly. should be fixed now, thank you for pointing that out!

in any case, the pic should be an obvious sardonic quip at my unfortunate similarity to the guido stereotype.

if you could give any feedback on my text, that would also be grand

This line "Please do not waste our time; if you are zaftig, please move on. If you do not know what zaftig means, google it."

Fist of all "our" time? Is it two of you or just one???

I'd be willing to say most ladies you would consider zaftig will realize they are looking in the wrong place and it might steer potentials away, but hey there is nothing wrong with being blunt.

99.9% of the pop won't have a clue what it means, and won't do the google search and possibly move on. (This is coming from a dude though...haha)

The term as he's using it is a Yiddish word and can mean anything in Yiddish from plump to needing to break a wall out of the house for the paramedics to take you somewhere on a stretcher-depends completely on the speaker so googling will not be helpful. Though it mostly actually means curvy and wasn't a derogatory word for native speakers, now that it's more of a general term it can be more negative. My parents and grandparents spoke Yiddish at home. Be specific about what you want and don't try and be cute or funny or use words no one will understand. Anyway, the t-shirt combined with the finger pic was enough for me and obviously other women too. I didn't read your profile. Just looked at the pics and closed it.

The T-shirt appears that it may have an arrow pointing down to your crotch? Not sure.

So, you want to emphasize the similarity to guido? Does that work well? Do guys think that girls really like the Jersey shore?

Or, you want to come across as a gym-rat, one-night-stand candidate? That would probably work a lot better with the drunk girls at the bar .

That includes the photo of you giving the finger.

Gratuitous vocabulary.
gra·tu·i·tous/gr?'t(y)o?oit?s/Adjective
1. Uncalled for; lacking good reason; unwarranted.

If a word isn't used in common circles, or even much at all, it doesn't make you sound smarter to be trying to use it in conversation. Using vocabulary correctly involves understanding your audience and using terms that are realistic and understandable.

For example: In the medical field, I could explain to a patient that lying in bed all day after surgery puts them at risk for a deep vein thrombosis. Or I could call it a DVT for short.

Or: if I wanted my patient to correctly understand my words and follow directions, I could say that they are at risk for getting a blood clot that could travel to their heart and cause a heart attack. I wouldn't call it an MI or myocardial infarction, because they may not understand and act accordingly.

Get it? It's not smart to throw around words that your potential audience may not understand.

You are looking for girls that like to have casual sex and date guido. Girls that date guys that gotta GTL - not girls that use the word converse as an adjective instead of a verb.

BTW - I can't stand those types, but I know that GTL stands for Gym tan laundry.

The t-shirt actually made me laugh, but the headline "looking for maturity before beauty" doesn't match the sentiment.

Keep the t-shirt pic as part of your gallery, but the main should be a head/shoulders closeup smiling shot with no sunglasses.

Please do not waste our time; if you are zaftig,

Tsk Tsk..............this comes across as someone who has a few extra pounds is beneath you........lose it.

Also, there are WAY too many I's in your profile.
You also do not talk about what your looking for in a woman......other than the zaftig remark........

I realize now that sarcasm is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to convey over the internet. Thank you all for helping me realize that. It is also becoming plainly obvious that very few people make it past the picture in terms of trying to get a feel for the profile. Much of my text does not scream guido, apart from the contrast to my gaming hobby. (GTL isn't even mentioned?)

Additionally, my use of vocabulary looks like it could be toned down a notch, thank you for the feedback! That, along with the yiddush at the end, are basically there to see if whoever messages me actually read the profile... I've found (and you have all confirmed) that few girls actually read the profile, just look at the pics and then pop a message. It also serves as a deterrant against the guidettes that many of you assume I am going for... guess I need more revision lol. I'd also like to blame my vocabulary on MCAT writing section practice >_< but that might sound disingenuous lol

In all honesty, the pic is designed to get a laugh out of the girl (thanks you_go_first!) because its a bit rediculous and unexpected. I am heavily considering finding a new main pic as per the feedback.

I personally find it irritating when a profile has a complete laundry list of must haves/have nots and hoops to jump through in the profile, a complete turnoff. I figure just integrating my preferences into the profile would be much more subtle and interesting. On the otherside, every other person lists the SAME EXACT TRAITS... I really don't want to waste time/space listing the same blah blah blah everyone else does (confidence, funny, intelligence, wild/crazy/fun whatever), my profile is long enough already lol

"Our" refers to myself and the reader, btw
