| berlin Posted: 4/5/2011 1:04:46 PM | This is a dating site with moribund forums. So not your best shot to get info. I was there 20 or 30 years ago, spending my reichmarks before crossing back the wall at the end of the day, and there was a nice little café with expensive kameraden ice cream, but I'm sure today it's a Burger King or something like that.
There was a lot of good donair kebab sold on the street at that time. Beer mit pomfrit (fries) and curry wurst available everywhere.
Some suggestions :
Go to the Thorn Tree forum and ask the same question. Go to your public library or local bookshop and grab a copy of Lonely Planet book, you'll get plenty of suggestions.
Better yet, just enjoy your afternoon or evening at Unter Den Linden and when you feel hungry or thirsty, just enter into a place that seems popular with locals.
Or maybe message frauleins von Berlin here and ask them.
Enjoy Berlin. | |

| berlin Posted: 6/2/2012 12:11:46 PM | These forums are sadly not really used by anyone outside of the English speaking world. Just because a lot of people post a profile in English (usually just to make themselves look interesting) and that it looks like a lot of people speak English, I assure you (living in Berlin myself) that the vast majority of 40+ don't, or at least not adequately enough, half of them probably speak better Russian !!!
I only found your post because I did a search for "Berlin" through all the threads, and yours was the only one from this year !!!
But most of the areas you should be visiting will be tourist-traps, you should have no problems finding out this information either at your hotel, or just wandering around.
Wish you all the best, Berlin is a fantastic city, spoilt only by all the Germans living there !! | |

| berlin Posted: 6/2/2012 12:48:16 PM | | thanks for the reply to my post, but i posted over 12 months ago, in early 2011. i did enjoy seeing Berlin, but it turned out to be a guided coach tour i was part of, so we saw all the touristy places that you would see. as for going again, i probably will do in the future, and try and get away from the tourist traps. thanks again for your posting. | |

| berlin Posted: 6/25/2012 12:10:23 AM | | mysticalworld, only been to berlin the one time, but try to see the major attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate, the remains of the Berlin Wall, and Checkpoint Charlie. beware at Checkpoint Charlie though, there are beggers fro Eastern European Countries trying to obtain money, nearly got caught out myself there, but apart from that, enjoy the city. | |
