Do any of you use products to combat the ravages of time? I use sunscreen, Obaji Elastin cream and Retinol A. Plus, I keep my weight stable and exercise for my physical and mental health. I have fond that Vaseline on all of my mirrors does a great job along with the weight and exercise thing which I agree with.

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 4/21/2011 8:09:43 PM | | I have found that diet, sleep, and exercise seem to be the best anti aging weapons. When I left the military at 31, I began eating a bit better and working out routinely. Honestly felt better and younger at 31 than I did at 22. People that try to guess my age say 25, whereas before they would think mid 30's to about 40. | |

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 4/21/2011 8:33:17 PM | ~OP~ Water. Tons of water. Staying hydrated is almost as important as diet, exercise and sleep. I also stay away from most over-the-counter "beauty" products. I use baking-soda/water for an exfoliate (on my entire body and especially my feet) as well as baking-soda drizzled with peroxide for teeth whitening. I do have professional trays/bleach for my teeth, but I find the easy/cheap route works much better. In addition? If you use liquid foundation, I'd recommend getting rid of that. I use the bare minerals type and I can not believe the difference in my skin elasticity and overall moisturized feeling I have with or without it on. As for sun protection? I found an interesting product by Jergens, it's a self-tanner for the face only, it does have sun-screen and if used once or twice a week, I don't even need any type of make-up. Other than that? I'm all about water. JMO | |

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 4/22/2011 10:37:39 AM | I think anti-aging is both health, lifestyle, sleep, and products. I appreciate the link because it does address all of the above.
Verygreeneyes, I love that you are using natural and inexpensive products and get such amazing results. Water is critical to metabolism and hydration.

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 4/22/2011 3:24:28 PM | Genetics play a huge role.
I have never smoked nor taken any drugs ( besides what the Dr prescribed )
I have alcohol in extreme moderation.
Water, sleep and exercise. I also have limited amounts of sun on my skin.
I brush my teeth ( with tooth paste of course ) but also use baking soda.

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 5/1/2011 4:21:55 PM | Lots of laughter and fun in your life works wonders to aid anti-aging but yes keeping fit and healthy with a good attitude to nutrition does help.
so true huh!
Genetics helps me the most...my mom look quite youthful, great skin. As I never eat fish, never will, I take omega 3s. Aside from all the other things touted, the thing that convinced me the most to start taking them a few years ago was watching what it "might" have done for my moms skin. It cleared up so much blotchiness and the marking some women get after giving birth and really evened the tone. I've always had oily skin too, which i get from both parents. And while i was a pimply zit prone teen, it's helpful now. I've never smoked, not a sun worshipper, never worn makeup, moisturize after every wash since I was a teenager (my dad got me in the habit). Exfoliate now and then. Oh yeah, i don't use harsh soaps. And if it is generally a harsher one, i get the "for sensitive skin" one.

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 5/4/2011 5:57:34 PM | The major source of my appearance aging is my obesity. Working on it. I fear not fast enough.
Irish Eyez has my main prescription, along with laughter and love.
For the skin, I have always used baking soda. I guess it works because I still get people in close to study and compliment me, and I still argue with people about my age.
No one looks twice at my husband and I when we are together. He looks early 30's, so do I. But he's 24. Or 25, I forget.. LOL and I am turning 43.

Posted: 5/4/2011 8:22:43 PM | | I'm happy, eat a healthy diet, drink lots of quality water, consider all things small (issues), have lots of fun, exercise (play), and use extra-v cold pressed olive oil all over my body once a week. I take antioxidants, but mostly just eat a good diet. Oh yeah, and have lots more fun.

What are you doing to combat the ravages of time?
^^I don't really use any products that reduce aging. I don't think that stuff works, and if it does it is only temporary/very costly. Fortunately, I acquired my Mother's genes!
I have started (again); working out, changing my eating habits, experimenting with different classes i.e. Bikram Yoga, Zumba, Spinning, etc..........and weight training.
I may not look like I did when in my 20s/early 30s, but I look dayum good for my age/feel great!!!

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 5/5/2011 8:57:19 AM | oh yeah i was going to say, as far as moisturizer. in the morning i use this lotion called Skin Trip. It's a really nice water base, a little coconut oil and others. It's from a company in boulder colorado. Being in canada, I have to buy it at the whole foods/organic markets. It might be in regular stores in the u.s, don't know. I'd like to try their bar soap. And as a night moisturizer I just use st. eves w/ vit E | |

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 5/10/2011 10:15:35 AM | I think anything with an SPF factor is better than creams without for the day. I 've often forgotten my neck in the past, and it shows. Otherwise, I'm not convinced.Drinking plenty of water and eating well makes sense, but no proof. Some creams eg pore refining seem to cause ejection of any gunk. My skin was best when I used water and sun protection. | |

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 5/17/2011 5:37:48 PM | Op, I use a sunscreen of 45 or over and run on the beach for my health. I don't wear make-up AT ALL under ANY circumstances. I'm a size four and have been for the last seven years and it's all due to living where I want live which is on an island and doing what I want to do and loving the most important person in my life right now which is me. I'm a diver and I love the water which keeps me fit and trim not to mention outswimming the sharks down here..

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 5/17/2011 11:04:07 PM | Good sunscreen if I'm going to be out in the sun for more than 1 hour, glycerine soap, exfoliation, and acid peels. No alcohol, no smoking, virtually no coffee, green tea, water and sleep.
I look for a moisturizer with matrixyl, green coffee serum, copper peptides, hyaluronic acid - probably not altogether though.

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 5/18/2011 12:35:19 PM | I dont use any products that fall into the category of age defying. I took cosmotology and learned there really are no such Topical products-you may get a day of puffy skin to make a wrinkle seem smaller, but as soon as you stop applying whatever puffed up your skin, the affect goes away.
So, thank goodness, I was never sucked into any of that crap.
I am not a fan if going under the knife, or botox injections and have decided many years ago to jst age gracefully.
Water, a good moisturizer(I use coconut oil topically and I eat it), cleaning your face before bed, a good healthy diet, excerise and fresh air, laughter and spreading joy to others are what keeps us looking and feeling young. And great sex also does wonders for anyones complexion. My hair and skin glows when I am in a relationshp and having regular, steady sex.
Genetics play a huge role, and sometimes you can do all the right things and still end up with more wrinkles than someone who abuses thier body. I can see the frustration in that.

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 5/20/2011 3:28:25 PM | What are you doing to combat the ravages of time?
Staying active. Dance a lot. And smile. And hang around people who are lively and interesting. And get plenty of sleep. Maintain a playful attitude. And keep learning new things.
Outside of that, nothing. No vitamins, no skin products. No hair color, no makeup. Nothing.

| anti-aging products, do you use them and what works? Posted: 5/21/2011 9:13:21 AM | The entire idea that there are anti-aging "products" is ludicrous, indicating terminal hypnosis into the corporate marketing/consumer fantasy world. Go back to your cave! Advances in medicine show that we should use sun protection, not only to have better looking skin. I've read several of your posts we would still have children disabled by mesles if your anti drug philosophy prevailed. I don't know what gripe you have with drugs companies, but would you really be giving the foodie advice you had if a relative was seriously ill? Sorry off topic , but this guys posts are really p ing me off. People who are seriously ill are often in denial, and your gobbledegook about nutrition, and criticism of drugs companies, could be seriously harmful. | |
