Ok i know this is NOT a current event....its been ongoing for a very long time

i wonder what you people think

Pro Death Pentley

or Not...

Bassicaly i am agaisnt it...because prisons are supposed to "correction" buildings ....where you fix your worng..do time and get out and the idea is to GET BETTER...with the death pelnety there is no reason to get better because there is no light at the end of the tunnel...no hope no nothing...

I also think if somebody is worngly accused...and they get the death penelty by the time they get a 2nd trail ...they may be dead already...

The Death Penlaty means nothing realy though...polictions therathen with it...to strick fear into criminals...but there is still crime....there is still volience and nothing has really changed has it?

Plus america has more crime then canada...and Canada does not have the death plenty....

I find this kinda funny about america though...in some countrys they build cars and tahts what they are good at....others grain or oil...America has the death penetly...there speicaility is prisons....Did you know Califorina spent 1 billion dollers on Jails?? Thats crazy!

anyways...i dont have much of a arugment because i dont know much about it

just thought i would hear what others have to say

Please Enrich me with your knowledege and stories about Death Row! Because I REALLY DONT KNOW THAT MUCH!!!!!!!!!

Oh heck bring back the public stocks. I support the death penalty. People are less willing to commit serious crimes when large punishment are possible. Several years ago, it was made legal and acceptable to use lethal force against car jackers. Talk about a quick drop in the rate of occurence. Public hangings might help......ok goin overboard.

heftymon i also would like to see the death penalty brought back here in the uk be it public or hidden i also agree crime would lessen know that if you are proven guilty of a serious crime that is the fate that awaits you.also i think public flogging would also help.

here in Florida we have the death penalty, and we use it. I strongly agree with it. I think if you have enough evidence/witnesses against someone commiting a serious crime that he should be killed. If someone rapes and kills someone i believe they deserve absolutly NO SECOND CHANCE! if you have that little ragard for life then you don't deserve another chance. I also believe if the crime is big enough (murder/rape) and there are at least 2 credible whitnesses that you should go straight to the front of the line to the electric chair.

OMG
HAVE YOU SEEN THE OVERWHELMING FACTS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE IN PRISON FOR CRIMES THEY DIDNT COMMITT WHO ARE FINALLY BEING SET FREE DUE TO DNA.... I USED TO BE PRO DEATH PENALTY AND THINK AN EYE FOR AN EYE UNTIL I STARTED RESEARCHING THE COURT SYSTEM AND STUDYING CERTAIN DEATH PENALTY CASES...... GOD YOU TALK ABOUT THE STOCKS BEING A GOOD THING.
IF YOU WERE POOR THEN IT MEANT YOU WERE STOCK WORTHY IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH AN ACTUAL CRIME......
HEFTY WE NEED TO TALK BABY

Worse case scenario; population control, shorter lines at Wal-Mart for the rest of us. Keep the chair going! Might just be the only thing we disagree on Limo. MUAH!

Used to have the death penalty here in Canada if you killed a cop.
I believe in the death penalty. We have a guy up here named Olson....self confessed child killer. Guilty of it. Why is he still living? He will NEVER leave prison, so why bother wasting tax dollars keeping him? There are a few others too. I don't mean use it every time...just when it is overwhelmingly obvious.
Public punishment is a thing used in some places....look at the Phillipines....public canings. People don';t want that done to them, so they think twice before violating the laws!
It does NOT cost millions to execute someone...it can be finished up and done with at the time of sentencing. IF it is way obvious the person is guilty, the judge should be able to say "Take him out and hang him" or shoot him, whatever...and I think it should be public. Shown on television. SHOW people what happens to murderers, and maybe we will be able to stop a few. How many senseless drive-by shootings has there been with innocent victims getting killed? Want to see how fast that crap slows way down with PUBLIC EXECUTIONS. Thnik kids are going to follow the example of the "cool street kid with an Uzi", when they see what happens to guys like that? Doubt it.

i agree partly with a public death penalty but only to a certain extent. whether the person deserves it or not, i wouldn't want some 5 year old kid watching someone being hanged. kids don't need to see someone's neck breaking and then watching the pain in the guys face as he's dying. whether he deserves to die or not, watching someone die under those circumstances isn't healthy to see for some people. i think if it were public it should be more along the line of Lethal Injection. yes, they still show SOME pain but it's not as tramatizing as watching someone have stones thrown at them.

i got to admitt. the vision of people hanging or getting there head chopped off was a great deterent to crime. make one think twice before doing the crime. as for right or wronge? i think it depends on the crime.

ok, i got it! here in the US there are usually a pretty high amount of people returning to prison. so here's my idea:

All inmates inrolled in a prison should be forced to watch the executions. That goes for evreyone over the age of13 in all Juvinille detention centers.

any thoughts?

Try figuring out WHY they are returning to prison...missing the laundry done for them, 3 meals a day, cable TV, gym, conjugal visits, all the things they CAN'T afford on the outside world...make it a bit plainer in prison, so they are GLAD to get out and don't WANT to go back to the boring life in there.

As far as mandatory watching by other prisoners and those 13+ in juvinial halls...dang right...

I'm for the Death Penalty.

In fact the U.S. has the perfect System.

Only drawback is the Public Expense of Appeal Processes that can go on well over a Decade.

it is more expensive to execute a prisoner than to keep him in jail for life.
im sorry but i see it as if you can save one innocent life than it is well worth not having the death penalty.....
So many people being found not guilty who were already executed, GRRRRRR i just dont think its right, I am all for killing people who **** up but i cant support a system that has and will continue to put innocents to death... You are all missing that one point.

Lucky I didn't miss that point at all...and specifically SAID to execute ONLY those where there was NO doubt...like Clifford Olson case.

you know what though?

The death pently...its like...there are a few cases .....that happen every few years...that people think they should have the death plenty...but this is only a very small group of people

In america...death row is made up of very poor people who are reduced to nothing...and they have no education or anything..a.nd most of the time they have shot a guy or two and stolen somethign because its survial

And there is other times they are really high...because you get addicted to drugs when you live in a world as horrible as theres... And the ddrugs make you kill...

Everyone says "ohh they didnt have to kill" or "they didnt have to get high" ...but ....obviously you have never been in that situtaion before...

I also think this death pently...it sometimes happens that people like [forgive the spelling] Mumia Abu-Jameral who was consisderd "the voice of the voiceless" get put on death row out of rasicm and hate...and hand picked all white jury....When really it is supposed to be a jury of your peers...

I ask when is it that the death pently is far?

You say...only for people who are out of there mind and wasting air and my space...

But then i ask you...how would the family memebers of these people feel?

espicaly if they are found insane...but still put on death row?

Death Row....i do not support....because it is only maybe 5% of the time that the person really deserves to die and there is no hope of him getting better and being able to re-enter soicitey...

the other 95% of the time it is really unjustifed...because of people like Mumia-Abu-Jameral...and of people who are just poor and did it out of poor instiact in a Dog eat Dog world...

Like i said in my first post...prisons are supposed to be Correction Buldings...not death houses...

oh please. don't even start with the "it's a survival thing". most of the people on death row have killed cops, killed children, raped children, killed multiple people. Try telling me that the DC Sniper was a victom of society. that's such bs. if you're heartless enough to snipe people from hundreds of yards away while they're pumping gas or A CHILD AT SCHOOL you DO deserve to die. i believe the whole "vistom of society" is an excuse, it's not a reason for your actions. i do not pity these rapests and killers.

and as i stated before. i think people who have at least 2 credible whitnesses to a murder/rape should be executed.

they are correctional facilities. and people are still being realeased into public and returning back to jail. how would you feel if the state had a chance to execute the DC Sniper but instead let him out into public, a few days later he kills someone. that someone is your brother, or your sister, or your mother or father. how would you feel then? people like that don't change.

also releasing so many prisoners is nothing but a message to the citizens says "it's ok to commit crimes, we'll bring you here for a few years and then you can be on your way with life" it does nothing to prevent crimes, it would only make things worse

Heck yeah, and we can offset the rising execution cost by offering the death row criminals for scientific research! 2 birds, one stone. Everyone is happy!

im against the death penalty.. not cause i think its inhumane or any of that.. but cause i see the death penalty as an easy way out.. i think life in prison is much more of a penalty.. someone who gets caught for such horrible crimes.. is going away for a really really long time.. he has nothing to look forward too.. so killing em off is just doing them a favor.. having them wait 60 years before they die.. seems much worse.. especially now a days they look for much for effective and painless executions.. whats the point in that.. the only problem with this is.. the rising populations in todays prisons.. i think they should fix up some of the older prisons, and re-open them.. such as alcatraz..

unfortunaley as for the "sit and wait for death" thing goes. the longer they wait the better their chances get of getting a chance at parol. life sentence never means "life"
