Fish, boneless - skinless chicken breast and steamed vegetables. I highly recommend she pick up some Mrs. Dash to toss a bit of flavour onto the foods or she'll get bored with this diet really quickly.

Since the diet is no fat and not low fat, I don't believe she would be able to eat pork or beef since there is some fat content in the leanest cut of meat.

Absolutely no avocado if she opts for a salad and she needs to be careful of the salad dressing. I've often used lemon and herbes fine for a salad topper.

***edit... and congrats grandpa to be...

when i was cutting the salt.......i found fresh lemon juice to be a big help......dont taste like salt.....but it does take its place......even if its to a lesser extent

chicken breast.turkey breast.limited amounts of tuna in water....eggs...........bad thing about no fat is that you can get protien starved

I think in this situation that it's best to ask her doctor or to have the doctor refer her to a good nutritionist with the doctors orders on diet.

Sandwiches, but dont use spam this time, spam has lots of salt, but you could buy spam with 25% less salt, and that might make a good sandwich, but i would not use spam, i would make vegetable sandwiches, like tomatoes cucumbers and lettuce and sprouts with lots of mayo. and lots of pepper too. Maybe on a ciabatta bun

Most breads contain fat so they would not be good for this diet... mayo is loaded with fat as well. Luncheon meats contain far too much sodium to be consumed in a low sodium diet.

that's a really radical diet for most people ... wonder what the doctor's reasoning was ... when you think about it, though, I doubt anyone really NEEDS fat or salt added to their diets as one gets so much of both just naturally!

I wonder if the doctor was talking about ALL FATS ... including the "good" fats found in plants (avocados, corn, almonds, etc.) ... or if he meant just animal fats ... even eggs have quite a bit of fat interlaced with their proteins ...

thinking she could possibly go with a vegan or vegetarian cook book ...

wow ... motherhood is not for the weak ... wishing her happy thoughts as she embarks on this adventure!
