| | Shaving...avoiding bumpsPage 1 of 3 (1, 2, 3) | I'm not asking opinions from men on whether or not they like a woman who shaves.
I'm not asking if someone is associating shaving to looking like a child.
Those have been done and already have multiple thread/topics posted.
What I am asking is feedback from fellow ladies who shave and how to avoid bumps, razor issues, etc. Some people have told me to wax but I don't like waxing my eyebrows let alone dripping hot wax on my kitty.
My issue is, sometimes the shave is not equally smooth, other times there might be a small nick from the razor...or even bumps depending on how cold it is. I'm just trying to get solutions for keeping things as smooth as possible. I do cycle quite a bit as well as swim, so it helps when these little things don't come in to play.
Thoughts or suggestions? thanks in advance

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 2:31:28 PM | Don;t use a shaver that is only two blades for smoothes and less irritation.
EXFOLIATE! Prevents bumps and ingrown hairs that may occur.
MOUSTURIZE! Your skin is delicate and dry after shaving and needs extra hydration
|
| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 2:34:21 PM | Usually I use 3 blades....I forget the name but it is one for females
Def moisturize too.....being in the Mid-West, its mandatory...
Exfoliate I haven't even thought of for there.....

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 2:39:28 PM | OK, well have it your way then! Men have been shaving for way longer than women....although not in the all same places ....though that is changing with the younger generations. I myself don't have any advice but I always asked myself why some say go with the grain .....I always noticed going against the grain got me a closer shave, though you have to be careful, especially with hair that is more like wire than hair! :) | |

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 2:56:02 PM | Wet shavers work well. Stubble is really bad on thirty mile plus rides no amount of shammy is going take away that burn. Cleaner the better friction free in the saddle makes for a better ride. | |

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 3:02:11 PM | I use a 4 blade razor. Venus do a great one. I think you will always get a bit of razor rash but using a good quality shaving cream or even hair conditioner is a good way to minimize that. | |
|
| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 3:16:37 PM | | Gently exfoliating the area of course avoiding obvious ones wil prevent. I use St Ives Apricot Scrub its very grainy using a ver small amount will do it. | |

That never worked in the past....trembling hands and a razor are a bad combo
not to mention, too much of a distraction and the job is never finished
^^^^^^^^ Abelian.... that was what I had from online dating^^^^^ hahaahha j/k

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 3:32:21 PM | Dont wear tight clothing afterwards.
E45 shaving cream and be gentle with the correct tools at hand.

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 3:33:06 PM | Coochie Cream

Some just use conditioner but this works well. After you shave for a while you will notice less and less "bumps". You didnt ask about how much to shave off but I find leaving it trimmed on the mound and shaving off everything else works well.
Shave the first shave with the growth of the hair. Then go back across the grain. Going up aginst the grain will sometimes cause more bumps.
Hope this helps. | |

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 3:37:35 PM | Good info Sugah...
I'll probably try conditioner and a different razor. It all comes off...with the work outs I do, nothing is more comfortable then a little something. I used to get creative with designs (heart, N.S. Trident, mohawk) when I was in college but now that I'm past that and do much more cycling, etc...I find its easier just to do the totality.
And I'll def check out bikini zone gel

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 3:57:15 PM | I have been using an epilator (EpiSilk by Sunbeam I think) in as much of the area as I can so that it does not grow back as fast. It is helping! That just leaves the um fine work areas and always use conditioner instead of shave cream, go with the grain and then again across the grain... Never go against the grain. It took a lot of courage to do that to myself but it was worth it.. my legs only have to be shaved once a month now and what grows back is soft not nubby. It is worth the investment.

I hear that saliva applied liberally with a wet tongue eases the after-burn
anyway, modivin, do you find you cycle a bit faster with the coochie area totally bare (hardwood) or is there pretty much no effect on the wind drag factor?
also, what if you ever dated a Marine or Army guy, would they get miffed about the SEAL Trident design (just curious) ;) hard to do the Marine globe, though

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 4:13:43 PM | I always just pluck, it hurts like crazy for a few days but it lasts a lot longer than shaving ---but I am into pain anyway, it tuns me on, so it's all good | |

Interesting, would that saliva be human, canine, or feline? Because I've only seen canine and felines having the ability to clean that area themselves....
Oh..
Well...uhm....hmmmm....good question. Maybe next time I have a serious relationship I'll ask for homeopathic aid?

I do cycle a little faster with all hairs below gone because there is less rug burn so to speak making it more comfortable for those 50mile + days. Wind drag...well, I never had hairy legs like a man....I think the continuous hair shaving for cyclists is more for the crash and burn effect. Easier to keep a wound clean when there is no hair carrying bacteria to affect the wound.

well now if I ever dated a Marine or Army guy, they would just have to deal with the fact that the Navy SEAL will be the one true special forces team I would want engraved on my body....everyone is second best

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 4:24:28 PM | hi modivin:
well I was thinking human, I don't know, maybe my coy way of suggesting you recruit a 'helper'.. I can understand that , less rug burn, plus you get total adhesion between the nether regions and bike seat, only separated by a few mms. of bike shorts rather than that,. plus another few mms. of compressed hair as in the 1970-'s & prior bush-league days..
I can understand your love for the SEALS, they can do it on Sea, Air or Land..
The Marines slogan of attack is not bad, though :"hey diddle-diddle-straight up the middle"..
very wise of you, not as permanent as a tattoo, if you every did have to settle for a Jar-head or Ground-Pounder you could alter it or just go totally bare
but remember, if you ever go Army, and have more than one guest, "Rangers lead the way" !!
But the Army DOES have a post called FORT DIX - sounds very promising for straight women that love a good time! and Navy- submarine races..
|
| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 4:31:12 PM | I guess I trust my steady hand rather then a nervous ned as an assistant.
70s bush-league days....reminds me of one of the Scary Movies, the scene where her pants come off and the hair is to the ceiling.....
Now that would take a weedwacker!!
I would say the SEALS would be like the Chuck Norris of the special forces. They can do it to you without you even being there....mind control...
As for my other fav military branches....they can start off with a clean turf I suppose...
more then one guest....interesting thought...
^^^^^ I guess with my experience living next to Navy bases as well as other branches....from me personally...Navy all they way ;-0) Water, Air, Land...no mater what...

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 5:15:11 PM | Sugah nailed it!
Always use a good "fresh" razor as well. When you first start you will have bumps until your skin gets use to it. Buying creams and lotions are good if you want to, but I've discovered its important to let things 'dry out' before applying them. It gives the pores a chance to close before you start applying oils which can irritate and cause more break outs. There is a product made my Monostat called Chafing Relief Powder-Gel that works great for keeping the irritation down from friction (lol) when you need it.
IMO: Like someone else suggested, having a partner help you out can be fun & they'll get all those hard to reach places for ya ... Just sayin' :)
|
| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 5:17:28 PM | | modivin, those SEALS are supposed to be awesome at any task, maybe they could do it better for you | |

| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 6:39:48 PM | | I bought an electric razor and it works so much better!!! I first bought a body bare, but it broke and while they did replace the screen as promised after throwing a fit, I ordered a Panasonic wet/dry men's razor from Amazon and I definitely exfoliate in the shower, but it is way better than the nicks, cuts and bumps left with the regular throw away razors, although the cost is a lot more. No more bumps, no more nicks and cuts..... much better experience all together!! | |
|
| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 7:51:21 PM | So I've been shaving for probably.....at least 11 years in that region..as in all of it. So its more now, seeing what solutions women have for their more sensitive spots since I've heard so many....
Now....others have suggested getting a partner to help. Certainly that would be more fun, especially if he was an incredibly hot, sexy, Navy SEAL... Then again, I would be the woman known as previously known as modivin.....because if I was involved with someone like that....there is no way I would have time to be on a dating site forum...... Far far too much work to be done in that area where things that are entertainment can be done with....
Sometimes I wonder if it grew back and I have become a born again virgin.
|
| Shaving...avoiding bumps Posted: 10/27/2011 7:59:16 PM | I'm curious as to the use of the electric shaver...... how well does that work where the hair grows towards the inside of the labia? That seems to be my problem area!
BTW Mo...I'm a fan of the Coochie Shave gel.....works great and moisturizes as well. And I never use my "coochie" razor on any other parts (legs or pits)...and I only use it a couple times.
