| | Sizing on PoFPage 1 of 3 (1, 2, 3) | | Ok so, I get a bit confused with the sizing offered on here. The average size of females in the Uk is 16, therefore I am average. However, clearly I carry a bit of weight from my pics, but am not as big as some others so chose a few extra pounds - I have no idea about these things really but sometimes change it to 'large' just for the hell of it. Just wondered what others do about this? | |

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/13/2011 12:39:25 PM | I have 'prefer not to say' I'm an 18 so more than a few extra pounds but have been told I'm not BBW/Big Tall I've had men disappointed because I'm not big enough and would always get some idiot saying 'You're not tall'
Peoples ideas vary so I will tell people my size and include a full length photo then they can make up their own mind.

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/13/2011 1:02:59 PM | yeah ,, i wouldn't put much weight to it ,, you will find that most people will make their own mind up regardless of what option you have chosen,, especially if you have a decent full length photo on your profile,, | |

I'm always honest, but can't win
Tell the truth and get told off
lie and get told off | |

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/13/2011 1:54:33 PM | There's a fine line between being honest and being offensive for some men | |
|
| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/13/2011 1:59:15 PM | | It's all incredibly difficult anyway as what is one person's average might be very small to someone else. Plus there wasn't an option for 'small arse, enormous knockers' so I was b*ggered.............. | |

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/13/2011 3:31:45 PM | I don't particularly care for any of the items on that list, I mean the pets thingy and the do you own a car? tedious but my most hated is the size one! I've met some lovely people who were large and some horrible people who were small, so does it really matter. Sizeism is a bugear! I once weighed 18st 10 last year, defo a Few Extra Pounds! But now only weigh 12st 13, defo Average by this rating! But none of that beats the getting rid of the "Size 18" I got shut of 2 and a half years ago. Not by a long chalk!!!
A pic will tell all, but sometimes, like me, we do take a truly terrible picture that just doesn't do us justice sometimes.
Everyone on here is better than a pic anyways!

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/13/2011 4:28:35 PM | I honestly dont think it matters if someone is honest enough to either mention theyre a bit on the large size or have a few recent full body pics displayed so somebody can make their own mind up
Its only really an issue if someone only shows face pics and is then rather conservative with their description too
I personally dont class "average" as the modal or majorative average but the healthy average for someones hieght
So my idea of average would remian the same if the modal average became a size 26
I think descriptions based on what the healthy wieghts for a hieght should be tend to be more honest really and far less of a misrepresentation
I havent met another person (male or female) who thinks in terms of the modal average size. Most people know what a a healthy average size is for a given hieght and that would still be "average" even if 60% of the country was overweight and the other 39% was underwieight

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/14/2011 12:28:02 AM | Well unless that dog next to you is an Irish wolfhound OP, you are not large, and regardless of how you 'describe' your figure on here, you fit into what most men want in a woman, not skinny and definitely not large. 'Pleasantly formed' would be the most apt description, but failing that, a few extra pounds will do...most of us have got them...its how they 'sit on us' that's important.
Most of us blokes have got a six pack, it's just we mislaid five of them.

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/14/2011 12:38:18 AM | Im with Aggers on this one the sizing thing on here is unfair.....Ive ticked the average bos which I guess in my eyes is not too skinny but not too fat. Like Aggers this time last year I was practically a sixe 16 - 18 but through stress and being ill I lost all that weight and never really regained it.
It should be the person and there personality not there size that matters................

Unless youre just looking for platonic friends of course size matters
Why would somebody want to date someone they didnt also find visually or phyically appealing irrespective of how "nice" their personality is?
And that doesnt just include someone being overweight either
Infact many people who are overweight and who use the "its whats on the inside that matters" also WONT date people who are also overweight, people who are skinny, people who are too tall or people who are too short in most cases
So all theyre really saying is THEIR looks shouldnt matter, but they still want what they prefer
Who would honestly want to date someone who honestly said they didnt find them physically attractive but it didnt matter because ONLY personality was important?
Gee, that must make you feel super special and uber desireable no?
I've also never once heard of someone overweight turning a potential partner down because they DID find them physically attractive either.
But why not? If theyre so dead set against "shallow" people, then ones that PREFER larger partners are shallow too after all
But miraculously they only seem to have a problem with physical preferences that EXCLUDE them, never with equally specific physical preferences that DONT
Go figure | |

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/14/2011 4:06:42 AM | Average is a 16 a few extra pounds im not im more than a few extra pounds over my ideal weight try stones pmsl , so no way would i add a few extra pounds . id say thats less than a stone over your average weight for height .
Im average ive full length pics on to show my build . I had bbw but so does women at a size 24 26 ... So a full length pic i find is best i always add them and they can see im not thin ...

Yeh ok thats fair enough
but you cant just judge someone on a photo...........Ive had it said to me by another member that Im fat and I shouldnt have an opinion on these sort of things Mike so I will now be quiet on the matter other than to say get to know that person first................................

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/14/2011 4:20:02 AM | I would be slightly put off by a man who wanted me because he likes larger women, I would like to meet a man who likes me for me whether I'm fat, thin or in between as we can all lose or gain weight. The man who is right for me is a man I will find attractive no matter what.
I'm big on chemistry and while I have to find someone attractive I don't have a set idea of what is attractive, I have found all kinds of men attractive. If they catch my eye then they are half way there.
I have also met men who I wasn't 100% about physically but after a bit of time together I have found myself attracted to them and vice versa meeting a guy who is gorgeous but after 1o minutes I want out.

Would it just be better all round if it just asked for your dress size instead?

| Sizing on PoF Posted: 11/14/2011 6:17:49 AM | I used to call myself BBW/Tall, and then got told off several times by friends...and was told to change it to 'a few extra lbs'
But at the end of the days, does size really matter...you either click or you don't

I have also met men who I wasn't 100% about physically but after a bit of time together
And? Do you want a halo for that?
Everyone has a "range" of people they find attractive, some will be high up in that range, some around the middle and some right on the lower edge of it. But theyre still IN that range
So the fact that after talking to them the balance of looks/personality made them move higher up the overall attractiveness scale isnt any less surprising than men at the top of that scale moving down in terms of overall attractiveness if the personality/looks overall rating is let down by them being vaccuous
How many men though have you found totally and utterly physically repugnant and unnappealing where "chatting to them" has made you want to rip their clothes off and jump their bones?
How about a bloke who was 30 stone? Still a "possible"? What about 6 stone and 4'8"?
Unless someone is completely outside of your range of "possible" and their personality does bring them into the acceptable range comments like that arent really much more than crowd pleasing "look how nice I am" examples of political correctness
And rather than dating you because youre fat, they would actually be dating you because THAT type of figure IS what turns them on
Very few people if given the choice would want a partner who didnt think they were sexy over one who actually did, and thats the crux really
If getting on with someone and loving their personality alone equated to "attraction" then incest and shagging all your mates irrespective of gender would be pretty much pandemic

Maybe, but even then it doesn't account for body shape and tone.
