I've been listening to a lot of Megadeth lately. I've always liked their fire and intensity way more than Metallica. "Holy Wars" is a masterpiece.

Not sure what you all consider to be heavy metal but I love hard rock and metal as well.

The Not So Silent Night concert last night was awesome! All That Remains, Hatebreed, Sevendust and Five Finger Death Punch :-D

Depends on who you ask. Old school thrash/death metal people will bash a lot of the newer stuff, granted I was part of that scene sorta(early/mid 90s, not exactly totally old school, but a lot more old school than metalheads of today) but honestly I think there is a lot of great new bands today, like the ones you listed. Some of these newer deathcore bands actually put some of the old school shit to shame. It's nuts! but the metal scene has changed a lot, but most American bands these days got their sound partly from the Swedish scene, bands like Chimaira, God forbid, etc. And a combination of American death metal + Swedish melodic death metal, All Shall Perish, Job for a cowboy, etc

I'm generally into the more extreme end of Metal but like most of the older classic bands/albums ('Maiden, Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth etc). The last gig I went to was Inquisition, with support from Revenge.

I've now been into Metal for just over 20 years, which started when I heard Enter Sandman on The Chart Show (in the UK..) in 1991. I'm still finding lots of new bands I enjoy, along with a few I missed out from the past - long may it continue.

I grew up on Metal. Ozzy, Metallica, and so one. I've gotten into more Metalcore and hardcore. I listen to a lot of Parkway Drive, As Blood Runs Black, Aborted. I'm currently listening to some old Animosity as I write this.

I love metal. There are good metal bands where I'm at like Strapping Young Lad, 3 inches of blood, Zimmers Hole. Ive been listening to lots of Megadeth past 4 records lately. The last bands I've seen were Opeth and Arch Enemy.

I went through a phase where all I listened to was hardcore metal...stuff like Satanic Industries Limited, 6 Feet Under, Cradle of Filth...I went through that phase when I was 13...

Anyway, it didn't take me long to start feeling like it was just too narrow of a genre. It all sounded more or less the same. Guys screaming a bunch of inaudible stuff in either a really low or high growl, over thrashing guitars and drums. I don't hate it or anything, and still enjoy some good metal from time to time, but for a genre that typically promotes nonconformity, it seems to all be pretty similar.

I still really enjoy Slipknot's first album, most everything Korn has done, earlier Mudvayne, Nothingface, and a few others. But those are bands that a lot of real metal heads would get pissed off if I even mentioned. They're too soft for a lot of people.
