My wife has been on a health kick for the last year or so. She regularly goes to the gym and watches what she eats. She looks great and feels good about herself. So what's wrong? She stinks!
Yes, she smells, and not from lack of showers but from the food she eats. In the last year, she has gone from vegetarian to vegan. She is eating a lot of organic foods, greens, soups, etc...
Normally, I would tell her to stop eating things with garlic, as that was my first thought. But even now I find other foods without garlic make her stink.
It is a huge issue for me because I no longer want to be intimate with my wife. I don't even want to be in the same room as her when she gives off this aroma. And this especially applies to the bedroom because then she is right next to me and there is no escaping it. I have tried things like going to bed earlier so I'm asleep by the time she stinks up the room. Sometimes the smell is so bad I have to leave and sleep in our guest room.

Spouse, yes. I made that commitment. S/O, maybe.
Really depends on how I was reacting to it.
Doesn't mean I would stay in the same room, or bedroom with them.
2. What if they chose lifestyle over your comfort?
What if she went crazy.
What if she turns out to be a serial killer.
What if she switches to liberal democrat.
How would you make it work?
By discussing it with her, maybe a doctor and/or nutritionist, see if there is anything that can be added, like more pineapple juice, that would change the chemistry and if she is willing to add that to her diet.
That would make something work.
I'm not sure what you mean by "it."
"It" really depends on our goals and life situation at the time. | |

I once ended a relationship with someone who suddenly decided he could stop using deodorant because he thought he didn't need it....wrong. And then, after a sweaty workday in a dirty place, not shower, and also wear the same clothes, including socks, for 3 or 4 days straight. That was only one of the reasons to things going south, but it sure tipped the scales.
But smelling bad for healthy reasons....hard to say without actually living it, lol. I was also going to suggest the pineapple. | |

When I joined the Army, I was in my 30, and weighed a grotesque 260 lbs. IN 10 weeks I lost 70 lbs, dropping to 190. But in that timeframe, ALL the accumulated crap stored in my body came whooping out of my system via any means possible. I had zits like any three teens, halitosis, and B/O of epic proportions as my body flushed itself clean. But after the first month and a half, my system was flushed and it all went away.
Now, I'm not claiming this is whats happening with your friend, but it's a possibility to consider. | |

I'm surprised she does not know this, it's one of the first things you learn about when you have a drastic change in eating habits. The food she is eating now is mixing with & breaking down the old sludge & that is what stinks, she needs to flush it all out. Gradually it will, but it may take months & she will continue to smell until all the old stuff is gone. Better she does flushes now & get it all out. | |

I would guess because she like any trained medical professional knows unless you have some type of underlying condition you colon does all the work that is needed to be done.
Thinking otherwise is an epic failure at biology 101.

Posted: 1/5/2012 12:04:54 PM | I cannot figure out why the man just can't discuss it with her. If someone I lived with and cared about suddenly had lousy breath, sudden hair loss or bad dandruff, I would encourage them to go to the doctor.
Physiological changes like that usually have a root cause and a relatives normal reaction should be to show concern and care, not hide in the guest room.
A visit to a good internist or dermatologist would at least rule out anything serious. | |

I was in a book store, where a customer with the worst underarm odor came in. It was so bad, that you could smell it at the back of the store. Out of curiosity, when I had my yearly physical, I asked my doctor what could cause such an odor. I get that it is obvious that the man didn't use deodorant, so my doctor suggested that most likely this person was overindulging something that was part of his diet. | |

2 I would make it work because she is getting rid of crap that has been in her body for years esp if she is losing weight and its coming out of her pores and everything else..most likely.
Soon her crap and urine wont even stink when she is "clean".
As far as the garlic she can try the odorless kind and take chlorophyll capsules.
If they don't have enough sense to make sure she is not ill. Oh well. | |

We are all pre-programmed with scent recognition and scents trigger different reaction in different people.
It is possible for your scent profile to change over time as you may become more or less tolerant to some smells. | |

I was a chef beginning in the 70's that was one of the first to discover that using absurd amounts of fresh garlic in cooked food was a good thing. When I was the personal chef for a family of five the wife had to ask me to stop using so much garlic. Se said that my meals tasted delicious but the reason was she could smell it on her husband when they went to bed. She wasn't talking about his breath she said it was if she could smell the garlic oozing out of his pores. | |

I feed my dog mostly raw (mostly meat); when I get too busy otherwise and rely on the back up kibble, which is mostly vegetarian for a couple of days, he starts to smell, well, doggy. It disappears when he's back on full chicken.
OT: feel sorry for the lady -- she's going to end up very lonely. | |

That's not true, thousands of people die from backed up waste, in fact that is why John Wayne died. He had over 40 pounds of waste in his intestines & it killed him. Unfortunately, sometimes our bodies do not work properly. Something is going on internally & flushing it out is one option she should consider. | |
