Almost 50,salt and pepper hair, wrinkles.Passed my best! Page 1 of 4    (1, 2, 3, 4)
Hello all.
S0,a year or so before the big 50 I find myself single.

The urges for a relationship, dating, sex etc are still the same as 20 years ago.
I have no desire to end my days on my own and want the company of a woman.
Then I look in the mirror and do not like what I see.An old man.Who would want that I think.

I hate the grey hair..easy fix,dye it..Would you?
Inherited early wrinkles. Not so easy.Thinking of dermal fillers.Would you?

What I see knocks the confidence although inside the skin, hair, mind is still young.
So the questions are do I fix the hair, wrinkles or do I kick myself up the butt get on with living!!

Thanks,
Andy.

Sort of a philosophical question.

My choice was to NOT do "repairs." Partly laziness, partly selfishness (I want to be wanted for what I am, not for a cardboard replica of what I used to be), but mostly because every guy I've seen who DOES color their hair, and get plastic surgery, looks foolish to me.

Now if you mean exercise, dress well, and make the best impression you can with what you have left, then by all means, go for it.

Your profile reads that you are 46.
Here you state that you are nearly 50 ...
Is your age listed correctly?

You wouldn't want to put your best foot forward on a lie.

As for the grey hair and wrinkles.
Well ... welcome to the club.
It's a cool club, where we (hopefully) have grown in intelligence and maturity
and like who we have become.

Embrace it!

Work on your health.
Your fitness level, your stamina.
That will make you far more interesting to woman your age.

That's what I would say to someone who has this thread listed in the Over45 threads.

However, since you have this listed in the Over 30...
and you're looking to date some 20/30 year old.
Can't help you there.

I'm knocking on the door of turning 40 this year. I swear my hair has started to turn grey since I was in my mid 30's. Nope not gunna dye it. Not a lot of wrinkles some stretch marks on my arms from my muscle building days. But heck it life, we age...

Personally, I'm not interested in changing my appearance with hair dye or chemical fillers, and I would feel the same way about my partner.

A man with a healthy attitude and lifestyle is attractive. A man who embraces the reality that while we age, we strive to live with passion and compassion, and grow mentally and emotionally until our last breath.

We all have a "shelf life" on this earth...it's what we do with our "best-before date" that matters.

I am starting to pass my best and wonder too if I need 'help'. Fine lines are appearing, my number elevens are getting more prominent, and crepiness is starting to show on my forehead. Let's not forget the grey hairs coming in at my hairline These are the signs of aging that I am transitioning into.

I refuse to colour my hair as it looks silly and sooo obvious! But...I have thought about getting botox to lessen the appearance of my number elevens (those deep grooves between the eyebrows that some people get - it's hereditary in my family).

We all end up with the same lines and the same grey hair (at different paces, of course) and it can help if we seek partners who are close in age to us. At least they understand the aging process and how it feels.

It's too bad aging is considered taboo. The media makes us feel that we're never good enough, no matter what age. The young are pressured to be sexy and beautiful and the old are pressured to look young. We can't win unless people start to reject these ideas being pushed in our faces on a daily basis.

Be happy with yourself. Confidence is most appealing.

Personally, I'd never want to be with someone who took such measures to fight aging. Changing diet and exercising, well we all could benefit from that. But those who dye their hair or get botox, I see them as being either entirely too superficial, too shallow, and I worry that they'd expect me to do the same thing.

Honestly, we respond the same thing to big girls or short guys... you can only do so much to your body. Be healthy and comfortable in your own skin, and that's all that matters. We all grey, we all get wrinkles. Its life.

You are a great looking guy. Someone will love the way you look, and love you just the way you are. You just need to find them. And what the others think...why should you care? You aren't here for them.

Now...once you find that person, do all you can to be as desirable as you can for that person. :)

Everyone will tell you not to dye your hair or get work done. Be yourself, accept your age, don't be vain, blah, blah, blah...

You look great for your age, but there's no downside to looking better IMO.

You have plenty of hair for hair transplants, but you could start by just dyeing it (tip - use women's not men's hair dye, or get it done in a salon). And you could see a plastic surgeon about how you could best deal with wrinkles. Don't forget your teeth, which tend to yellow with age - dental veneers can transform your smile.

Some things may be tax deductible so check with your accountant.

W ... T ... F ... ? DUDE ... ! Get over yourself ... !

Grey hair? B. F. D. ... it happens. Dye it ... ? You ARE shitting me, right ... ? You wanna look like Al Bundy ('Married With Children') when he started hanging out at the Old Folks' Home ... ? What's next ... ? 3"-wide white belt with plaid pants hiked up to your nipples? Holy crap, man, get a phucking GRIP ... ! As for the people here spouting off about 'botox' (or 'veneers'), you REALLY wanna look like the Ultimate Lizard Woman, Nancy Pelosi? There's just so much vanity people will put up with before they tell you to go find a rolling donut to take a flying - - -k at. You also need to know they're gonna tell their friends after y'all meet that 'Oh sure, he's cute enough, but he's 'had work done', you know' ... think they won't? Don't bet the rent on it ...

At 67, I'm OLDER than you, but incredibly CUTE ... ! It's all ATTITUDE ... ! If you look in the mirror and see the Face Of Defeat, that's on you. I'll be damned if I'll EVER pass a mirror without thinkin' 'Damn!, you're cute!'

Now go kick your own ass and get on with it. Forget that other crap. Only weenies do that. Are you a weenie? The answer's up to you ...

Hair dye ... I mean, REALLY ... ! That's so pathetic ...

Why not shave your head? Thinning/balding hair can be easily fixed by a barber with a razor. Just a thought.

Inherited early wrinkles. Not so easy.Thinking of dermal fillers.Would you?

Sure. I would. If I feel the need someday ~ I just may do a little Restylane.

Well, OP? The sad reality? You ARE the age you are. Doesn't matter how young you feel ~ you are 50 (and that "I feel younger than my age...." cliche is so......cliche and over-used and really doesn't mean jack, just for the record.) Along with 50 comes gray hair, wrinkles, and gravity taking over places we didn't know we had to worry about. That's life. Reads to me like you aren't all that fond of the inside of the skin you walk around in and that's a much bigger issue than being a little disgruntled with the outside. Might wanna keep in mind that women who are 50, often times are not opposed to dating a man who's 50. But just like you ~ we've aged, too. So if that's your target demographic? You might want to be a little more forgiving of the ladies than you are of your own self. Good luck to ya.

Don't mess around with plastic surgery; it seems to usually turn out badly with the face.

Even if it turns out great, it will freak women out if they know you did it.

A LOT of women like salt/pepper hair. George Clooney anyone?

You're better looking than the average man. Don't get too freaked out.

When I took recently a trip to Austin I ran into a very interesting as well as attractive man, Silver/ black hair, some wrinkles (as the saying goes, we'll all get wrinkles, if you smile alot you get them in the right places) but fit, funny and could carry a conversation, in a diner over breakfast and we swapped business cards. It is too bad we didn't live close enough to do more then chat over breakfast. There is nothing wrong with being who you are, who else would you be? Did you see Nicholas Cage after a few botox treatments? Just be positive, upbeat and you!

Well... now there's a conundrum.

The OP, who claimed he was going to fix the WRONG age 'right away' on his profile when a poster pointed it out to him, has somehow neglected to do so and time is running out (POF only allows a new member 2 weeks to 'fix' their age - after that, it's permanent).

Ain't it funny how these age "mistakes" ALWAYS seem to be in favor of the person making them? You never see someone erroneously listed as 5 or 7 years OLDER then their age, do you?

I use to put down 87 or the maximum age allowed when we could change them at will..... It was always a game of guessing and watching those that somehow think that the number listed was correlated to what we were seeing with pictures.

It amazes me how many will put down such a young age and when one looks at the pictures, you scream in horror with how poorly they seemed to have aged...... If one is going to try to maintain a youthful age, they had better be able to back it up with youthful pictures, and herein lies the rub......most that do that will place pictures on their profile that match the age listed and thus 10 to 20 years different from the one we actually meet.

I have been on here long enough to know those that still have the same pictures that they had seven years ago, and claim that they are recent. If you are not changing them yearly or even more, trust me, when we meet, I will see it, know it, and make that meet and greet, a one time event..........

Now, when someone claims to be 55, and has pictures that make them look 45, and in person they look even better, the age thing means nothing..........and that goes for those in their 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's, which I have dated at one time or another. Those that look good, are in shape, and attractive to me, really will not have age factor in if we have that chemistry and compatibility to enjoy each other.

cd............

Sorry OP, but, when you talk like you've already lost, well,,,,you've lost.

Whenever I look in the mirror all I see is the life I lived. And I'm proud of it. I have nothing to hide, to cover, to dye, to tuck, to stretch. Nothing. I'm not a model, and don't plan to be one.

Don't like or think your look is good. Go buy the latest of GQ. They've got lots of "types" that will empty your pocket book based on promises of reactions of others. Is that what you're looking for????

I could so care less about aging. I want to age naturally and experience it all.

What do you do when you dye your hair- do you then start dying the downstairs as well?

at close to 50 I have my first gray hair in front and find it interesting. I embrace who I am, where I'm at

In my life and work out with weights to fight gravity and stay in shape-enjoy my life each day.
