I said sure..with someone else..mean I know couldn't resist......... he he ..That got me to thinking whether there is any real romance left in the world? so I will tell you what I would like ...maybe other women might enjoy this also...when you come to pick me up for the date bring flowers ...a single rose..heck you could pick them from my yard or better yet the neighbors yard..ya.. walk me to the car ..open the door make sure I'm safely inside before you shut the door..still limp a little from that one guy..tell me I'm beautiful or make something up ..flatter me big boy..hold my hand ..kiss my palm..It's not about the money spent on a date it's about the attention!! Be genuine.. be charming ..be very charming ! So what do the wonderful people here at pof think about this? Am I old fashion or just old??Don't answer that ! grrrr ! | |

Actually I did find a guy who does exactly all those things well minus the flower part but he is charming and genuine...
BUT BEFORE HIM NO ROMANCE EVER, I GOT ASKED TO GO HOME WITH GUYS JUST ABOUT EVERY WEEKEND... IN THREE YEARS I WAS NOT ONCE ASKED TO DINNER OR A MOVIE, BUT I WAS ASKED COUNTLESS AMOUNTS OF TIME TO "COME BACK TO MY PLACE" GRRRRR AS WELL.
ITS FUNNY NOW I GOT SO USED TO SCUM BAG DATES, THAT MY PERFECT GUY NOW DOESNT EVEN GET THE CHANCE TO OPEN ANY DOORS FOR ME, I ALWAYS BEAT HIM TOO IT THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WE ARE BOTH STANDING AT MY DOOR AND IM LIKE "WHAT THE FUCK A®E YOU DOING" NOT REALIZING HES DOING THE ROMANTIC CHARMING THING...

Hold that door open for me, lead me onto the dance floor(not drag) look me in the EYE when you compliment my dress. I dont expect a guy to stand up when I do(but wouldnt that be so cool) but some good old fashioned gentleman to lady maners make my heart start to palpitate because they are so rarely used anymore. And ladies, dont sit in a dress with your legs wide open when your sitting in that fancy resteraunt, unless the tablecloth is long and he took his shoe off............

I mean, for me, it's common practice anyways to hold doors for others - at work, at the store or whatever. I couldnt believe the difference in manners the men and ladies showed just by where I lived. I moved 20 minutes from my old place and Ive had more gentleman holding doors(young and old). Romance is definatly something that is underrated by both sexes and something that needs to come back to the fore. | |

and they go tell all there friends, co workers, and your friends and so on... so the guy is belitted and kind of crazy to try that again. | |

Posted: 11/6/2004 9:26:25 AM | agentpk it unfortunate that we see it everywhere. I for one have taught my son to hold doors and he loves the attention he gets from all the ladies who see him do this as he says "Please go ahead". Not bad for a 12 year old I think.
Sometimes I think common courtesy is just dying but Im fighting tooth and nail with my own actions and the kids and thier friends to keep it alive. | |

Posted: 11/8/2004 5:02:25 AM | Well i did the whole bit with my ex wife..i opened doors..i brought flowers countless times for no reason..cards...poems...short stories...photo albums of special moments...painted pictures...and what happened? she would say.."Dont open the door for me i am not a child that needs a man to open the door for, "OH, you got flowers (IF she even noticed them),..."That's nice" (about the poems or writings...she didnt understand them) and i will tell you this about our honeymoon to London, Paris and Roma..we only made love TWICE in 12 days!!!! We were in some of THE most romantic places in the WORLD and it was just blah...
I did those things becuase i wanted to do them...not because she expected me to do them. | |

Now days if any romance is tried you are called unreal, trying to get some ( well duhh , romance = very interested ) and women see it as a weakness also. Not all women do , but a majority will now days. I am lucky to have found some one that I can romance and show attention to with out all the problems of todays modern woman theory's. Most men are scared to death to treat a woman a such way because the first thing they do is try to abuse everything they do for them. There is a fine line there, and the two must walk it and talk about things as such. I have been told that line I can hold my own door, Just say WHO CARES! get your a** in and let me worry about the door, my hand was here first, Most will laugh and move on but you do get the pissy look every now and then. I show alot of attention on my current gf and she loves it, but what makes men want to do it more and more? Simply show that respect back, plain and simple and men will. Well if ya find one that is lol, good luck to ya all.

I open doors for men and women, because I enjoy showing people that you can care about a total stranger(not in the stalker way).
I like writing poetry and stories, does that make me romantic?
I like talking walks and staring up at the stars at night, does that make me romantic?
I say please and thank you all the time, does that make me romantic?
I don't really think so, however I do believe it makes me 'A' romantic.
Does that mean I can be romantic? Not even close. Most of the time I am a complete and utter social failure.
