When filling in forms these days, it is quite common to be asked if you have a disability and also what 'race' you are. So with the government and stastistics obviously using the colour of a person's skin or disability to formulate who we all are, what do you think defines you? If you were asked to describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be? Would define ourselves by our sex, age, skin colour and perhaps whether we are a parent or maybe even marital status - is this REALLy what we are all about? | |

I think age, height, colour, etc are descriptive words... I wouldn't see any of them being things that define me.
I know some people would be defined by them and it's a core part of their being. Just not for me.
I am neither proud nor ashamed of my gender for example, it's just the way I was born. It's more important to me that I am an Arsenal fan than it is about where I was born, where my parents came from, my nationality, my gender, my colour, etc... As I had no say in the matter on any of them.
Things I have chosen myself, define me more than things that were determined for me or without my input. | |

People always make snap judgements about others based on a few key pieces of info.

These are the strongest character traits that I have and place most value on but I am not defined by those traits and they have no bearing on who I am.
Those 5 traits tell you nothing about me really......and there is a chance you know more about who I am by descriptive information.
Male, white, Cambridge, Graduate and 34.
That may tell you more about me if you didn't know me, If though you met me then you would almost know a lot of that information.
So ultimately I think your defined by what you do, what you believe in and what drives you and can't be summed in 5 words/ | |
