Time has gone by and being a gold member actually does now give benefits that did not exist when this service was first launched. I can see today why some people would want one.
So..today, I dont judge someone who is a gold member, whereas last year I kinda snickered when I saw it. | |

Maybe to women it appears that if a guy spends a little cash on an otherwise free site it makes his intentions more obvious since many women are hesitant regarding who is here for just a lay. That said, it's too expensive and none of the prospects turned into anything.
So I say, for girls it probably means nothing, guys will still message you mainly based on your pics and how hot you are. For certain guys, it might send a message that might not have been so apparent before. | |

Actually, I do have a paid membership on a pay-site which I'm about to allow to expire.
I find that POF has a much larger selection of people to choose from than what is found on the pay-sites for where I live. I'm also tired of getting messaged by people who live thousands of miles away too. I'm not interested in a long-distance relationship. | |

I pay for music, movies, and other things online you could probably get for free. So why not online dating? Being able to message back and forth should always stay free, but everything else is fair game. | |

Now, many have changed, and if one wants to pay to have those options, that is their choice.....I just prefer to stay in the background as I have for all these years.

This works for me, because I can see how often someone I am chatting with goes back and views my profile. This shows me how interested/serious they really are about meeting me.
I doubt this will work as well for men, since MOST women are viewing in stealth mode.
It has helped me to both weed out guys who are not serious, as well as meet the ones who seem serious. I say it is a good tool for women, not so much for the men.
