Rangers beating Vancouver in 6 games, and I hope the police in Van City are ready for the riots.

Hey the Maple Laffs are out once again, sorry Leaf fans.

I know Vancouver will blow it(likely won't make it to the finals), but I would feel better if it wasn't against the Rangers. I don't want the Rangers to win the cup. Detroit or Pittsburgh, please.

I'd love to have an updated photo with the Cup this year but geez, the way the Pens have played in the past week, (including today), I don't know if they're going to pull it off.

As long as it's not the Flyers or Caps, I'm OK with whomever else wins.

At the risk of sounding like a homer, I would say the Canucks are the favourites this year. Granted, they'd be 4-1 against, but I'd still give them better odds than any other team.

Most eventual Cup winners have a deep run the year before winning. Pittsburgh lost in the finals the year before winning it; Chicago lost the Western finals the year before winning. I don't know what Boston did in 2010, so I can't comment on them.

Although a good point you've made, HTD- This is still the Canucks, even if they put Schneider in net, and keep LeWrongo as back up; they'd have a better chance, but they'll still choke.

The bruins in 2010 lost to the Flyers in the second round. after blowing a 3-0 series lead and they learned their lesson and swept the Flyers the next year on the way to the cup.

Sure, count out Bruins again as you guys did last year.

Take a look at goals for and against, Bruins have the highest difference.

That shows Bruins have solid defense.

How the hell NY Rangers are on top this year???

Well either Torterella is a really good coach and hes getting the best out his players or they are lucky and I guess we will see what they do in the play offs but Torterella has them singing from the same page, I think they are going deep in the play offs.

Another Stall brother to win a cup, would that be a first to have all brothers winning a cup?

I'm notoriously good at picking hockey for some reason, even though I barely watch it. Even picked the Carolina Hurricanes back with their first and only final four appearance. I honestly haven't watched any hockey since the gold medal game(canadan vs. us). What a great game though, I do love playoff hockey.
I picked that game too, mainly just cause they had Sid the Kid and we didn't, and that's how it turned out too: his gold medal goal to win in overtime. Shoulda bought tickets to that game at the start of the tournament, I predicted these two teams would meet as well. Woulda been a 5000% ticket markup price or something, since it was hosted in Vancouver. Maybe I should start betting hockey, hehe. I wanted USA to win too, just knew it would come down to that. I prognosticated that it would be a very close game, but that they have Sid and we didn't.
Simple enough, but Occam's Razor is how i figure hockey I suppose.

They are full of surprises aren't they?

I will be very surprised if my team wins this year. Rangers lost tonight but seeing that game was very exiting. Two very old, hard teams that can score even shorthanded. Brutality is just over the top and it's no place for the likes of Crosby. (sorry Vixen) It will be a battle between original sixers if they survive to face the west.
Flyers and Caps shouldn't be a problem but Pens could do some damage. That Malkin ...

Zen, IMO, the Pens aren't likely to get past the Flyers. But the Flyers can't seem to beat the Rangers.

Never mind how the hell the NY Rangers are on top - What's with the St. Louis Blues? Did anyone see this coming?

Way I see it Flyers are a very resilient and adaptable team. Just like Bruins Rangers have brute strength. Boyal is a big boy and Lundqvist is hard to get by but it's not hard to wear 'em out. Pens have speed and good tactics. Either way tomorrow should be a very interesting game.
As for Caps Ovechkin and Varlamov need to spend less time in a bar and more on ice. :)

Seriously - Ovi's game has taken a nosedive. Did he get too full of himself? What happened? I don't like him at all, but I still wonder why he's not up to his former caliber of play.

Well, I surely did not, they've been surprising the hell out of me lately. Kinda' cool that they're on such a roll. I don't usually think of St. Louis and good hockey in the same sentence.

I just found out Caps traded Varlamov. I hear they are good friends so this could be a very good reason for Ovechkin to protest so to speak. He is arrigant but I suspect personal reasons for his game to go down.

Geez, he's been protesting all season then.

After getting spanked by the Flyers on Sunday, the Pens came back and beat the Bruins tonight, 5-3. Weird game - first both teams were listless, then it was a pretty good game from about halfway through the 1st period until halfway through the 3rd, and then they both got really sloppy on the puck handling.

Bruins look hot going into the playoffs by outscoring their opponents 33-16 in their last 10 games...The quest for the Cup still has to go through Boston. No better time to be hot then NOW!!

Yeah I saw that. Same score as Rangers - Flyers game. I'm bad luck when I try to watch a game. Missed 4 goals and got there just to see Flyers score lol I switched over because I couldn't stand watching Lundqvist being a human shield. Defense sucked at the end but win is a win.
I think Bruins got arrigant too soon. Pens did a good comeback from initial 0-2

Seriously - Ovi's game has taken a nosedive. Did he get too full of himself? What happened? I don't like him at all, but I still wonder why he's not up to his former caliber of play.

After the playoff loss to the Pens 2 years ago, management went into panic mode. So they scrapped one of the most wide open offenses in the game and tried to turn to "all defense, all the time". Like most moves made without consideration of the personnel involved (see Redskins switch from 4-3 to 3-4 defense 2 seasons back), it hasn't really worked out well, but it's completely killed Ovechkin's game. And Coach Hunters attitude isn't helping. The organizations lack of trades at the deadline to try to make a playoff push proably didn't help either. I think that Ovi's gotten to the point where he'll give d*mn again when management seems to want to, but he has been picking it up lately. Hopefully the fight to make the last playoff spot will bring some more energy.

As for Pen/Flyers upcoming series: 1) shouldn't they just have the whole thing in State College (use the football stadium) to save everyone some travel, and 2) how many body bags do you think they'll need?

It was a really mild winter, so no outdoor playoffs in PA...it was 60 degrees and gorgeous today, not a cloud in the sky and it looked like a postcard here.

Shockingly there was only one fight today, early in the first period. Coach Lavs was heartily booed every time his mug was shown on the Jumbotron (that was fun) and of course, Jagr still gets booed every time he touches the puck. And the Consol Curse has finally been broken. On to the playoffs.
