| | a line in an old movie I thought was interestingPage 1 of 1 | I was watching some old movie and heard something that I thought was interesting... this old man is talking to someone young and he says:
to most men, a womans naked body is the most beautiful thing he will ever see. The young person asked..
? what about women ?> what is the most beautiful thing they will ever see?
the old man says:
the face of her first born child.
Interesting... and I thought true as far as my experience as a woman.

| a line in an old movie I thought was interesting Posted: 4/4/2012 4:22:12 PM | | I freely admit that tears were streaming down my face at the birth of my boy and girl. A woman's naked body is tantalizing and can be quite beautiful, but doesn't come close to comparing to childbirth. The subsequent development of the child is very awe inspiring as well. | |

It's amazing how movies can sometimes give us great advice through one liners.
To me a couple of quotes I'm thinking of having tattoo'ed are:
The game of life is hard to play, I'm going to lose it anyway, the losing card I'll some day play.... M.A.S.H - suicide is painless
Favourite at the moment... and so true It's only after we lose everything we are free to do anything... Brad Pitt - Fight club.
Because in the end everything we do is just everything we've done Corey Taylor - Omega

yes art seems full of images of the female body... mostly portrayed by men too.
playboy, penthouse, all images of the female body.
I personally have never paid to see a man naked, in any way, or bought any magazines of male bodies.
I have spent a small fortune on pictures of my kids, frames, scrapbooking and all that ~ !

I don't think it would come as a surprise to anyone that both men and women have a certain fascination with sexuality. Still, it is mind boggling to me that anyone would even begin to equate that with the miracle of childbirth. Yet, there are people who may do so.

Hattori Hanzo is the samurai sword maker who agrees to make a sword for the protagonist. After it is done, he presents it to her in a very solemn ceremony, with the following speach:
Hattori Hanzo: I'm done doing what I swore an oath to God 28 years ago to never do again. I've created, "something that kills people." And in that purpose I was a success. I've done this, because philosophically I'm sympathetic to your aim. I can tell you with no ego, this is my finest sword. If on your journey, you should encounter God, God will be cut.
I want THAT sword.

When the number of childbirth paintings equals the number of nudes, I will agree with you. "Go ahead. Make my day." R

Ah, I see. I don't see "beauty" as strictly a visual awareness. It is the awareness of so much more, at least to me.

thoughts?
I almost rolled my eyes right into the back of my head.
Nothing like an old movie to reinforce heteronormative gender stereotypes.
But I'm a woman without any babies...no wonder life looks so bleak.
