I hear you, I was really surprised that so many people showed up for breakfast! It was definitely was a first! Since so many people attended breakfast perhaps we should start a little earlier? By the time we get the and setup at 9:00AM it's already 9:45 before food is getting cooked and 11:00AM before we get cleaned up. Just in time to start lunch at 11:30AM. LOL

We definitely need a bigger and hotter fire for the griddle! How about some chicken and waffles with those shrimp and grits?

I updated the "volunteer list" in the original post above with items to bring and tasks that people to do. Thansk to all for making these a success!

Remember to post what you are bringing and I will add it to the list in the green box above. It's a lot easier to bring a lot of one thing than a little bit of everything.

hey I had a blast at the last event. And watching Val was a hoot. Telling them guys that they where doing it all wrong. Hehe. You should of just grabbed the skillet and knocked some sense into them girl. These are so much fun. After everyone settles in the dating horror stories come out. (this is where the spooky music comes in) The Haunted dentures come out and start to chase youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Hey lady pick those up will ya. That's not too healthy in my book. ok ok i'll stop rambling on. But you can have a blast.
I'm bringing pasta salad again. Johnnie

onethingsleadstoanother it sounds like you may have had a good time... Too bad everyone doesn't realize we have a lot of fun at the events. A note for those to arrive and leave in 15 minutes that an event is not a TV set and is actually an interactive activity, give it a try you might have fun. However, it may take a little while to settle in and start having fun.

The forecast looks like 64-70 and partly cloudy, but no worse than the last cookout which was brisk and overall good weather, some even got a little too much sun.

If the weather is warm we may have everyone make a "handful" of homemade ice cream and I may bring my solar oven in place of the dutch oven for baking in.

Does anyone else have a "SPECIAL" cooking method they would like to share?

We are on for BREAKFAST! Last time caught me by surprise, I was not expecting so many people for breakfast.

Everyone post what they are bringing to share so I can post in in the main post here so others know what is already being brought.

See you there!

The weather forecast is TERRIBLE! So I changed the date! From Saturday, April 28th (high 40's or low 50's and rain) to Saturday, May 5th (High 70's or low 80's/partly cloudy) This sounds like it will be a LOT more fun than shivering in the rain!

Just to make sure, it's NEXT Saturday. It will go on for nearly 12 hours so stop in before work, after work or BOTH.

Mark will bring some utensils but having a back up available in your car can't hurt.

FYI: I changed some of the times around:

1.) Changed the start time from "9:00AM" to "8:30AM" - Breakfast ran into lunch last time
2.) Changed the end time from "7:00PM" to "6:00PM or later"
3.) Changed Breakfast start time from "9:30AM" to "8:35AM" - Breakfast ran into lunch last time
4.) Changed the lunch fire building from "11:30AM" to "12:00PM" - Breakfast ran into lunch last time
5. Changed the Lunch start time from "12:00PM" to "12:30PM" - Breakfast ran into lunch last time

Hopefully this will make it more fun (which is a difficult task to do) and better flowing and a better fire for lunch food since there was a pile of ash in the grill that we just built the lunch fire on top of.

Now that today is here and it's a high of 48 and 50% showers it was a good call to postpone until next week. The radar looks like about 2 hours of rain, which wouldn't be bad it it wasn't so cold. Nevertheless it gives me a week to plan what to cook in my new solar oven.
