| | IM Disappearing?Page 1 of 1 | Sorry if this is a repeat - a search turned up no results
The chat is showing up everywhere except search results. In my "Viewed Me", "Favourites", Inbox, etc., I am given the option to use the IM. However, when I search, I only see "online now".
Is anyone else have this problem? | |

Posted: 4/18/2012 10:24:17 AM | IM is not available everywhere. Never has been. It is actually currently available in many more places then the Admin said it would be when he brought it back. Most dont like people "chatting" as a way to make first contact. It is a "next step" that you invite someone to do AFTER you have made contact via email here is I believe the thought process behind the ommision. This is not a glitch or bug. Its the way it is supposed to work.

To show as available for chat you must be online here on a computer not a phone and have chat enabled in your mail settings.
To use chat BOTH parties need to have a current browser version (not an old one) and the latest version of flash, and ALL popup blockers off etc....
The chat window is SMALL and is easily blocked by Pop-Up blockers or overlooked. It hides behind other open windows and gets lost etc...
Best advice you will ever get is exchange REAL MESSAGES her and invite them to use Yahoo Messenger offsite instead of this crappy excuse for a Instant Message program here at POF. Yahoo IM ALWAYS works.
If you are not computer savvy you will have a hard time probably troubleshooting all the possible technical problems that would keep a POF chat window from opening. Try downloading a new different browser and install the latest Adobe Flash. I run FireFox 14 and the newest Adobe Flash on my laptop and the IM here seems to function OK. It runs better on newer hardware.
