| what stirs your soul, moves you deeply, inspires you? Posted: 4/27/2012 5:20:21 PM | Well as the men aren't biting, I'll start the ball rolling.
Two things have always the ability to stir my soul - Well written words which transport you somewhere else and create a scene in your mind (I have a thing for quotes) and a good photograph. I am not artistic in the least but a photograph which captures an emotion or a beautiful scene in nature, is something I have always had an appreciation for.

His music is so powerful and possesses such incredible emotional depth. For me, his music is the greatest creation to have ever come from the human brain. Call me geeky but that's how I feel. Listen to the second movement of his 5th piano concerto, it's breathtakingly beautiful. I will stop now or I'll be here all night !!

| what stirs your soul, moves you deeply, inspires you? Posted: 4/27/2012 9:25:49 PM | 1. National Anthem 2. Watching anyone give their life for someone. No truer love. 3. Watching my children being born. 4. True love(not this fake crap nowadays), meeting that one woman that when you look in her eyes the rest of the world ceases to exist. 5. Enya and Creed 6. Honesty | |

| what stirs your soul, moves you deeply, inspires you? Posted: 4/27/2012 10:20:17 PM | In my life, I have been inspired by literally anything from nothing, to everything.
As a baby, I marveled at how I could see farther, the higher up in a room I was.
As a child, I was fascinated by the motion of dust glinting and swirling in a ray of sunshine, the warmth of the sun even in winter, the sound of a cat's purr.
I can be enthralled by a carefully crafted set of words, a set of sounds of almost any kind.
As one of the many yearning for companionship, I am thrilled every time I witness someone else finding it for themselves, since that implies that love still exists, and may yet find me again.

If just one of those soldiers stumbles, or one of those tanks breaks down, or one of those card-flipping children don't produce the visage of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il, or any other assortment of party apparachiks...
...and yet all the clips I've seen are perfection.

| what stirs your soul, moves you deeply, inspires you? Posted: 4/28/2012 4:06:28 AM | | Another answer from a woman but what the hell. A threat to the life of my first child changed my perspective totally. A few weeks after baby was born, a life threatening illness took hold of my child which led to several weeks in intensive care. All the emotions I thought I knew I'd felt before I hadn't really felt at all until I was faced with that. It was then that I knew real love, real pain, real despair and the feeling that I would truely give my life to spare another. When my child came off the ventilator and breathed independently for the first time in weeks, I felt real relief, and a love and desire to protect so strong that I cannot put it into words. Small things that I used to place extreme importance on have never held the same significance since. | |

| what stirs your soul, moves you deeply, inspires you? Posted: 4/28/2012 5:07:02 AM | Children. My daughter. The love between two souls be it a parent/child,lovers,siblings,family,friends, and the reactions/actions of this love. Nature, void of any sign or touch of humans.
My inner thoughts,wishes and dreams.
Edit:
Ooooops. Forgot my WHISKEY!!!!!!! ;)

Rainbows, especially the ever elusive double rainbow
Scarlet sunrises
Rescue animals and stopping animal cruelty and abuse. My dogs are both blind. One was born deaf. It is never lost on me that they simply don't realize they are different nor do they care. They are always happy and loving. It scares me how easily humans dispense with people who are different.
Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken"........."for I have miles to go and promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep....." never fails to bring a tear to my eye.
Architecture and more specifically, craftsmanship of the past. We seem to accomplish far less with regard to intricacy and detail, by machine, than most did by hand centuries ago.
Art....from classical to the surreal
Music. As Travelicious alluded to, I listen to music from all over the world.
Being out amongst nature. The peacefulness, the quiet. All we humans create yet we take for granted that which nature made all by itself.
Waterfalls.
Hummingbirds still take my breath away.
The timelessness of true love. I have seen many an older couple, in recent years, who probably have as much love for each other as the day they met. He waits patiently to take her hand. They hold hands and still have that look in their eyes. It saddens me, I believe, very few have such an understanding or capacity for love in today's world.

On a personal side.....
Portrayals and situations where I encounter relationships between a father and a son. I barely knew my father until his death when I was 15. I miss not ever having this experience. I hope I make a good father one day....
I carry with me a very necessary 'open wound.' The death of my friend in 2004, most probably, saved my own life. Earlier this month, I just celebrated my 8th year of sobriety.

@ Travelicious-
I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and had the unfortunate experience of the march on Skokie. The Holocaust was/is still one of the greatest atrocities in our human history. The Neo Nazis pointedly wanted to march in Skokie as, at the time, it was a predominantly Jewish community. Why anyone would want to make someone 'relive' something so horrible or how anyone could be capable of purveying so much hatred is beyond my comprehension. I was 12. This was the first time I ever learned Freedom of Speech can sometimes be a dangerous weapon........

Enlightening a few of the masses (several thousands here) with some pearls of wisdom..
"Seeking love is like chasing a butterfly.. Beautiful when it is free to flutter around the flowers, but delicate enough that grasping for it can damage its wings... Become a bright healthy rose exuding natural fragrance in the sunlight, and the butterfly may just surprise you by alighting on your petals..." S
That, and summitting a mountain. Did Whitney 5 1/2 times, may never do Everest.
