| | your dream jobPage 1 of 3 (1, 2, 3) | Ok so its the day after highschool graduation and you are thinking wide eyed about all the possibilites life has to offer. Some one comes to you and says you can have any career you want any job in any field. what job would you choose and why ( lol yes import for the uk i did it here this time, thanks). Mine would be to be a nurse. The reason for this is because I think I am a comapssionate person and i think that the quality of healthcare has gone from compassion to money. I think quality care and qulaity of life along with dignity and repsect should be upheld towards a patient till they draw thier dying breath. I dont think any life is a waste of time and every life is beautyful. I think it is the compassion that we give away to and invest in others that makes the difference at the end of the day and ultimately at the end of life. And these people are on the front lines of healtcare everyday interacting with patients. This is why i would be a nurse. that and i think scurbs are cool, just kidding about the scrubs. then on the side i would play bass in a weekend band for fun, by the way my mom was a nurse and she loved it and felt fullfilled and rewarded. she gave me my compassion for people and taught me to value everyone. so what is yours and why? | |

| your dream job Posted: 4/29/2012 8:17:10 PM | I would be a mad inventor;
A thorough machine shop and an endless supply of raw materiel would be at my disposal.
Why? I dunno, Tesla was my hero, Bill Lear someone I'd love to emulate, Bill Ruger, and John Browning, mechanical genius's worthy of attention. To be included in that company would be a capstone to a moderately misspent life.

| your dream job Posted: 4/29/2012 8:57:40 PM | My dream job:
Physical Education Teacher HS Football Coach (Fall season) HS Basketball Coach (Winter season) HS Softball/Baseball Coach (Spring/Summer season) or umpire
Yes it sounds like a lot but it would keep me busy and active. Plus I just love sports and seeing people develop both physically and mentally/emotionally. I learned a lot of valuable life lessons through sports and I hope to someday pass on those lessons to other young people who are trying to find their way in life. I prefer high school and not college or professional because those levels do not allow for enough diversity of work (except for some junior colleges) and I am not here for just the select few, I am here to help everyone develop and help everyone discover talents they didn't know they had.
My biggest goal to achieve in my dream job: Win a state championship (regardless of what state I am coaching in) in football, be lifted by a few of my players or get a gatorade bath.
Someday I'd also like to have at least one of my players (in any sport) come back one day and say to me "thank you Coach V for all you taught me and for always believing in me."

| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 1:11:20 AM | | I would own a fleet of the finest private jets for hire, or maybe just be one of the pilots. Whichever was most fun. When I got bored with that I'll be a partner in the new asteroid mining company. | |

| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 2:47:36 AM | | Hey OP....nursing would be a great profession if they would actually let the nurses take care of our patients.....the work load and demands they put on us are a little unrealistic at times. Not only do we take care of our patients...but we have to deal with the families (don't mind at all but it can be time consuming) the Doctor's.....we have to document...then go back and double document...and triple document....among a hundres other things. I love being a nurse but it can be very stressful at times (most of the time) | |

| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 2:53:09 AM | | Oh...forgot to add...any job in the world?? A movie or food critic!! I mean c'mon....getting paid for your opinions while having fun and enjoying yourself?? That would be ideal. | |

| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 7:26:42 AM | I love to travel. And I love to drive.
My dream job... right now, at my age, in this wheelchair due to an accident... would be to drive all around the country doing unannounced REALISTIC 'spot checks' on handicap accessability and treatment of person's with disabilities in motels and theme parks!!!! And other "public venues" covered under the Americans with disabilities act.
Don't even need a salary, lol. Just pay my way/expenses - in a van provided and maintained. I'll write fair and honest reports.
I read/saw that a town near me had their sm. town mayor go around doing this sort of 'check' on things in his town. What a crock that was. They took videos of it. He had people pushing the wheelchair he got to sit in for the 2 hours... he didn't even try to move the chair himself... he had people with him opening the doors for him.. say what??? The businesses knew he was coming. He was greeted with all friendliness. LOL

| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 7:35:19 AM | Honestly, my dream job was always making blades. Sadly, I got hurt before I was able to really develop a business, but I'm trying to get back into it.
I've found more peace in my life while doing two things: Drawing, and Working hot steel. Mostly steel.
Dunno if this will work, but this is the first knife I've made in over a decade.

Very cool, Bladesmith.
When in High School, I was in JROTC, I went to 29 Stomps during my Senior year Spring Break and had the time of my life. After graduation all I really wanted was to be a Marine.
Now though? I dunno. Toss up between a film director and a stunt actor.

| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 9:14:11 AM | When I was a kid I always wanted to be an archiologist and an auther.
On highschool graduation day, I had no clue but all I knew was I was never going back to school again and that chapter of my life was over forever.
If you were to ask me now, my dream job is to work in the the capacity of an NGO, UN, something like that. I want to be a humanitarian, work with people in different counties, poor countries...Maybe women and children, maybe organizing food and shelter for the homeless..that kind of thing..
Thank goodness I can say i'm living out my dream, at least part of it :) ______________
I remember when I was in grade 11 my english teacher made us a do a paper on where we'd like to be in 5 years. At the time, it seemed unreal, untouchable, like it would never actually come...but I said in my paper I wanted to be teaching on an island somewhere on the other side of the world. Like 10 years later, my dad found the paper (which I had forgotten all about), and sure enough, exactly five years after I wrote that paper, I was teaching on a small island in Indoneisa ... Weird :)

| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 9:32:17 PM | | Music teacher, either middle school or high school band. Preferably high school because of marching band and an author... at the same time. And because I love music, I love helping/teaching people, I love writing. | |
|
| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 9:58:39 PM | I really like what I do, and also love marketing. But sometimes I think if I could actually make money at it, I'd like to be a travel writer who writes about road trips.
I also think it would be fun to be like Tabitha on "Tabitha Takes Over" - go into businesses, shake them up, fix them and leave. She can be as forthright and direct as she needs to be because the business owners ask her to come in and give them tough love. She seems like a total beyotch, but her observations are spot on. She shows them what to do right, coaches them, gets them jazzed up and then she's outta there, without having to deal with the day-to-day whining and politicking. That would be a blast.

| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 10:39:55 PM | | Hef's stand in for when he's sick, or not feeling up to servicing his harem. | |

| your dream job Posted: 4/30/2012 10:50:11 PM | Archaeologist (a well paid one, lol) - I've always had a fascination with digs and was able to volunteer at one in my village. It was only 100 years old or so. I would love to participate in a much older one and find something REALLY ancient. When I was in my middle 40s, I looked into what it would take to become an anthropologist/archaeologist. A person needs a doctorate to actually BE one of those and earn decent money doing it. Maybe my next life!
Astronaut. Outer space and the possibility of life from other universes is so exciting to me. We are so far from traveling to the stars at this point. So, I feed this interest with lots of science fiction.
Marine Biologist working with marine mammals. The intelligence of dophins and whales has always been amazing. I think there is so much more to them and if we could just break the language barrier, we could learn so much from them.

| your dream job Posted: 5/1/2012 8:05:45 PM | I always wanted to be a teacher. Ever since I was 5 years old I knew what I was going to be when "I grew up".
I went through the 5 years of university to get my bachelor of arts and my bachelor of education degrees. I did my student teaching. I did 6 years of substitute teaching.
But I can't reach my dream because enrollments are declining and with the economy the way it is (and now add that they raised the retirement age to 67), there's no jobs out there for anybody. I get the odd teaching interview but it's the old catch 22, they want someone with experience, but don't consider substituting as teaching experience, so they won't hire me.
I've been forced to pretty much give up on my dream job. I still am applying for everything I can, but I've got a non teaching full time job now..
It kills me that I never got to realize that dream and as more and more time goes by, the chances get slimmer and slimmer of my reaching it.
It hurts so badly to work so hard for your dream and never get the chance to realize it.
