| | CarsPage 1 of 1 | I'm trying to get a hold on a used car for a good price and fair mileage depending on the year. I'm just a poor college kid that's on the hunt of a dependable vehicle. Preferably Japanese cars, because they safe gas. So if u're trying to sell your car, or if changing your car season is arriving, then give me a word! =)

| Cars Posted: 5/13/2012 9:21:11 AM | | Got me a 98 Grand Prix, with 168,ooo on it and have put about 2,500 into it , in the last three years. I paid 2,900 for it, so thats a pretty good investment and yes its American. The 3800 V-6 is one of the best engines EVER MADE by any manufacturer. I get 30 mpg on the highway and it puts out 240hp with a supercharger. If you want to buy a foreign car that is up to you but just be ready for outrageous repair bills, yes they break down despite what you hear, and be ready for it to have no power what so ever. | |

| Cars Posted: 5/15/2012 1:47:51 PM | Bought a new Scion xA in 2006. Some bugs showed up 18 months later but the warranty took care of that. Trasmission, cam gear, and cam sensor all went out over a period of 3 weeks. Had an emissions problem about 2 years ago but I work on cars BIG TIME for a hobby so I was able to take care of the problem with some time, an air pump, and a zip tie no joke. So between 2008 and 2012 other than the minor check engine light emissions issue it has just been basic maintenace. I have 102,000 miles on it. I even have the original battery (knock on wood). If I drive like Grandma I get close to 40mpg.
Wife has a beater '02 Gallant 4 banger with 70K on it. No major problems other than I had to fix no less than 13 leaks in the trunk after we got married. Darn GE silicone is da schitz! She only gets 30mpg.
If you buy Amerikan get a Dodge or a Ford. Too many problems with GM. My '02 Neon R/T has 120K on it and no major problems. Other than basic maintenance I had to fix a leaking clutch resevior and replace the shift link bushings under the hood. When Dad owned her he had to fix a minor emissions problem which was nothing more than a leaking vacuum hose. This one gets 40mpgs if I don't drive it like an SRT-4. lol | |
