| | The Infamous DuckfacePage 1 of 1 | | Well, I believe my intentions are pretty clear. I'm curious as to why so many girls on practically any social network, take pictures with their lips pressed together. Its a bit jarring, so maybe some of you ladies could fill me in. Because, clearly I'm missing the appeal. Whatever happened to the genuine smile or the straight laced look? Its like Yu-Gi-Oh; only ppl who think its cool are those who actually play the game. | |

| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 10:19:21 AM | I call it the Trout Pout or Fish Face.
Bloody ridiculous.
Fuknose why anyone does it?
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 10:19:46 AM | This topic has been done before. Unfortunately ... it hasn't made an impact. And you still see silly women making duckfaces. Along with men showing photos of them holding dead fish. My God! What is the world coming too??? | |
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 10:24:06 AM | | If you think women look silly doing to the kissy/duck face you should see men doing it. Have fun someday and do the rate image thing. | |
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 10:32:09 AM | | Oh man...that sounds pretty disturbing actually lol. Never did understand the dead fish either. I'll just assume its a token of "male prowness"? Haha, honestly couldn't tell ya. Probably in some part of the country were the biggest fish is the alpha male. Kinda like the shiniest rimms on a car. Just my take. | |

Whatever happened to the genuine smile or the straight laced look? OP, you tell us, which duck-faced Charlies Angel are you trying to be in one of your profile pictures?
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 10:45:35 AM | | OP: ha ha ha ha ha ha...and, not at the women you censure. | |
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 10:51:38 AM | | Charlie's Angel...I like that. Unfortunately I'm far from qualified ;) Heh. You go watch 21 Jumpstreet. That movie does things to a man...hehe. We decided to take a goofy pic. Fortunately, I'm aware that pic doesn't show our best features, nor were we under the false impression that "we waz lookin real smexxi" | |
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 12:05:05 PM | I never make duck face...I hate ducks. I do however make dork face...because my face doesn't seem to think smiling is a natural thing. Also, I am a dork so it just channels through the camera. | |
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 12:09:12 PM | That's better than the "Picture From Above" the ladies strategically use to hide the double chin!
If the lady does not include a "full length" picture, I get suspicious!
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 12:25:54 PM | OP, you have 2 pics Id consider the 'duck face' yourself!!
I have no clue why people do this, Ive only ever done it in gest and would die if someone took my pic looking like that! Never mind to post it for all to quack at!!lol
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 12:28:52 PM | | Yeah I think I know what you are talking about. I've never seen this phenomenon until this year. I call it "The Puckerface." You can sing a long to the picture with Lady Gaga's song Poker Face. Just sing Pa-pa-pa Puckerface. What is up with these ugly pics? It must be some reference to a chick flick or a TV show. Maybe Britney Spears made that face or something. Yeesh. | |
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 12:52:52 PM | What's wrong with dead fish? I love men with dead fish in their profile pictures, always a chance they might take me fishing some day!
Duck face though... No clue about it, but then again, I don't have a clue why some feel the need to beef up their profiles.
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 12:59:28 PM | You just get certain fad poses and settings spreading through social media, which are done because a critical mass of people suddenly decides it is cool to do it. Not sure there is an entirely rational explanation on the individual's part. If enough people posed in red long underwear with a chocolate cake dumped on their head a certain percentage of the population would think it a good idea to run out and do that with a camera.
I'd also put in that same category of taste the proliferation of those weird aerial open cleavage shots you used to see more of on here (often coupled with the inevitable complaint in the text about remarks from perverts) . And, yes, there are the male equivalents... in a wifebeater or shirtless in the bath mirror etc. Then there was a period where you couldn't browse profiles for 3 minutes without seeing the obligatory rock climbing / hiking photo in a mountainous setting, etc etc. There will always be something.

| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 1:00:25 PM | ^^^^^[poster 15 that is]...........you have a seriously great profile.............and i love your comment about going fishing....[tried to e mail you..but cant]
as to the thread subject.......no idea who or why the duckface was ever considered attractive...........ist that the same face we all used when we were kids at someone we didnt like?
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 1:21:24 PM | | They do it for the same reason they get bigger breasts, to look more attractive. | |
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 1:36:22 PM | They are making their face/lips look like a "petunia"silly.
Who's that HOT guy on the far right? OMG!!!! Talk about shooting yourself in the foot OP
| The Infamous Duckface Posted: 5/16/2012 2:05:53 PM | OP why is it ok for you to have a duckface picture, but you are complaining about women who make the same face?
You aren't the first man on here that I have seen making that kind of face in their photo(s).

As I've stated earlier, those facial expressions are "me". Heh, my title IS..."Compassionate Goofball". I'm fully aware the facial expressions I make look dumb. They make me look goofy. Its a part of my personality, and I never take photos thinking "Oh yeah....I'm super hot." Lol not in the slightest. Also, I've been making faces like that since I was a kid. If anyone laughs at my pics, then my job is done. Goofy pics "should" be laughed at :P
Secondly, I'm not complaining. I'm curious about this popular trend. Instead of making any ignorant opinions, I thought I'd ask around and get a different perspective.
