another was a local who had an idea of where I lived, who wanted me to go outside & stand in front of my house, so he could drive down the street to decide if he liked me...duh!
I am sure other people of both genders have gotten some outlandish requests for a 1st meet...
are some of them do-able? would u meet someone @ Walmart? I won't even ask if you'd stand in front of your house while they do a drive-by...
And, BTW, over 10 years ago, I did meet a guy 4 a cup of coffee @ McD's LOL! but it was a 1st meet, not a date... | |

chances are no, but there are always exceptions.
There are places just as easy to meet, little more conductive to a meet and greet.
But by gosh 97 percent of the guys coming out to meet and greet are going to not be attractive
or have any qualities they claim and just be old, grumpy, searching out of their leauge types,
built like humpty dumpty with the small side up...much older than their pics....
so
your really taking a chance on a meet and greet any way you go.
I found the best thing to learn in doing online dating is to meet sooner than later
and work on your skills to reject these people !
so, I would not rule out walmart but it would be at the front door to quickly meet just to see that person
for a few minutes. Not much else. A real meet and greet would have to follow, one where you could ask some questions as to assess if that person was legit.
Have not met anyone at wallyworld in my online dating adventures but I once did report a guy for stealing my parking space, nearly hitting my car !
They didn't do anything so I followed him in and threw several boxes of tampons and prunes in his cart.
I did like to meet at the mall... several reasons.
There is a coffee shop in all malls, in case he isn't a freak looking man-
to chat.
There are lots of people around, so it's safe ( parks are not safe)
It's climate controlled, places to sit and chat.
Keeps them from seeing what I drive ( I drive an expensive car)
Easy get away in case a freak shows up. You can walk and chat, get a feel for the person if he seems ok.
I met LOTS of guys at the mall.. over 60 percent.
I highly reccomend it.
I met my husband at a resturant, for a drink... but after we met, before we went in... he suggested a better resturant close by, so I followed him there. It was very nice.
I liked the mall the best for a meet and greet and met doctors, surgeons, uni professors all at the mall.
I liked starbucks ( when nice outside) for second meet and greet. I sometimes did 2 or 3 meet and greets. | |

One of my best POF meets ever was a couple months ago. We had messaged a LOT in just a couple days. She asked to meet right away on Saturday. I pushed for the NEXT weekend... I was sooooo broke (long sigh..) She calls on Sunday (next day) saying she could be near me to meet at 7 pm. SHEEESH I again said NEXT weekend! NEXT NEXT WEEKEND please. Same thing again on Monday evening. She says she is off work and will be over in a couple hours. AGAIN I said NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT!
She tells me OK Cowboy thats two strikes on you. You have turned me down twice. Three strikes and you are OUT. lol
She pulls the same thing on Tuesday. I mean WTF??? lmao I gave up and said LOOK I will meet ya tomorrow then OK? Tomorrow at 7 pm.
She says "Look this wont even be for a drink or anything. I just want to see what you look like before we waste any more time. 5 minutes in a public place. Thats ALL. Dont expect anything else. No hugs no romance no NUTHIN!" I just want to SEE WHAT YOU REALLY LOOK LIKE". (crap I have sixteen friggin pics on my profile for christ sakes. lol)
So I said OK look they have a friggin Kroger grocery store a block from my house. She said GREAT! Where in Kroger exactly? By this time I was dieing laughing. She had a great sense of humor so I told her all gals love big pickles. The big ones are always on the bottom shelf so I would meet her on the pickle isle at Kroger. (I cant make up better POF first meet stories then my real ones I swear. I could write a book) This is not a joke. I now have a date to meet a pretty gal from POF on the PICKLE ISLE at a Kroger grocery store.
So sure enough she shows up on time and meets me there. Remember this is supposed to be for 5 minutes max just to see what I look like. NOTHING else. She is gorgeous. Has hair like Dyan Cannon. She is tiny. A size zero.... I said Hi and gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek laughing and asked if I was what she was expecting....
She just gave me another hug and said "Hey I have a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka in the trunk of my car actually and mixers for kamikazee's is there any where close we could go sit and talk for a bit?"
I died laughing. I'm thinking I already like this gal! lmao. I said sure there is a really nice park we can sit at a couple blocks away actually. She says GREAT we can take my car.
so we go out to find her car in the Kroger parking lot and she is driving a white convertible jag. OMG Now she is dieing laughing as I am standing there with my mouth open. This is like a dream. lmao We go to the park and have a couple drinks, have a great time. She is GREAT! We kissed some and she goes "hey I'm kinda hungry. Anywhere we can grab a drink close by and get some food? She goes I can slap it on my company expense account so its my treat".
Now I am looking around thinking this cant be real and I must be on Candid Camera or something. I have a really pretty, petite gal with a convertible jag and vodka in the trunk of her car that wants to BUY ME DINNER AND DRINKS now on a POF FIVE MINUTE FIRST DATE. WTF ??? I keep waiting for the dream to end and suddenly wake up.
It was cool out so we stopped at my place and I grabbed a couple leather coats as she wanted to drive around with the top down. We have a blast getting drinks and eating at and we are being silly and dancing in the bar in the isle and they close the place and make us leave. We had not even noticed the place was empty we were having so much fun. So she wants to go dancing now . We head out trying to find a place to dance at midnight on a Wednesday night. We end up back dancing and smooching in my back yard to music on my laptop until 3 AM.
So EIGHT hours later on a FIVE MINUTE first meeting at Kroger on the pickle isle she finally heads home.
So folks I promise ya its not WHERE you meet its WHO you meet thats important. lmao I honestly had one of the best 5 POF first meets I have ever had and it started by meeting on the PICKLE ISLE at a Kroger grocery store. (long sigh...)

Great story... This gal would be NUTS to marry me. LOL But we have went out a few times now. She is really FUN but very busy with work. (long sigh...) Trying to get free time with that gal is harder then nailing jelly to a tree. (wink)
I left out the funniest part of the story. Meeting me on the pickle isle at Kroger was her VERY FIRST POF meet. OMG! Its all gotta be downhill from there. lol (rolls eyes...)
Meeting Cowboy on the pickle isle at Kroger for a 5 minute first meet that lasts 8 hours.... lmao. She will probably tell that story for ages and all her friends will think she is crazed for sure. (long sigh...)

I would be ok with meeting anywhere that seemed safe and easy to find. Altho the Walmart is easy to find.. I assume finding your date in the Walmart would be hard.. therefore not a good choice IMO. | |

To me meeting is meeting & where it is matters little, as opposed to why it is. My take is if your reading so much into the where then maybe you need a break from dating.
Oh & FYI, I love the "Made in China" Walmart store by me. Lots of peeps around for safety sake & if we connect, Franks Pizza is 2 stores down. | |
