| | Any Hip hop heads out there?Page 1 of 1 | Hey I was wondering if I could get into debate about the hip hop community here haha. Whos your favorite artist, producer, whichever out right now? and why? lets make this interesting. Personally, I've been on a whole madlib phase for the past week, but before that I was definetly bumpin' Big L for the longest time. I will say, I'll be a west coast fan for life. All of death row is my stuff. Even though I dont neccesarily support those lyrics, I will say those lyrics are quite something else. Anyways what are you guys thoughts? | |

You know ... I really don't mind it. He has some wicked plays on words.

I'm a bboy so it was one of the first genres that I started to like, ironically enough. Before I started dancing, I'd hear stuff like hip-hop and think "LAME, how can anyone like that? They just say they like it to be cool." I was a silly kid. lol

| Any Hip hop heads out there? Posted: 6/3/2012 1:59:08 AM | I'm into a lot of the alt/underground stuff: Aesop Rock, EL-P, dälek, Cage, Sage Francis, Death Grips, Cannibal Ox, Despot, P.O.S, MURS, FELT, Hail Mary Mallon, etc.
What's popular in the mainstream right now makes me want to wretch up my own colon to plug my ears, however.

He had to create a whole new style in order to put VA on the map. 2pac is my all time favorite but T.I. is my favorite living rapper. The way he puts his verses together are always different and he knows when he has screwed up and mans up to his mistakes.

| Any Hip hop heads out there? Posted: 7/2/2012 2:55:29 AM | I've always enjoyed some hip hop, but over the years, its been harder and harder to find artists I like.
I do have a few favorites right now, such as Jon Connor, Jarren Benton (kind of like Eminem, but slightly more warped), Shad K, and the like.
I only mentioned modern day rappers I like.

| Any Hip hop heads out there? Posted: 7/5/2012 8:14:59 PM | Right now, nothing in mainstream makes you "think" anymore. Its all the material things that reside in lyrics that get played on the radio; I'm not the stereo type and I refuse to be a stereotype, but that's all me and my people are mostly getting portrayed as. I miss Kanye when he was on the come up; Graduation = classic album, never left the car CD player in college, and Ludacris was puttin out them albums back n forth, making hip hop fun. Sinitus Tempo, Kendrick Lamar, People Under The Stairs, Lupe Fiasco, Big Krit. I'm an avid listener of hip hop producers that use more jazz in their mixes, here's two different samples that I cant stop listening to.

| Any Hip hop heads out there? Posted: 7/6/2012 9:25:06 AM | I like a few artists/groups but the ones I do I LOVE. Nothing underground or nothing you guys never heard of. (The) Game is probably my favorite. N.W.A, Wu-Tang, Ghostface Killah's solo stuff, ODB's solo stuff, Dre's solo stuff, Biggie, Pac are all high up there too.
I'm also thinking about trying my hand at rapping too. Let's see how that goes though...

| Any Hip hop heads out there? Posted: 7/6/2012 4:07:44 PM | Yea Big Krit definitely has a lot of soul. I've found Freddie Gibbs to be along the same lines as him, but with a different style.
I like listening to older Twista, Killarmy and Sunz of Man, Jedi Mind Tricks, Bone Thugs, Tech Nine and a lot of the 90's rap people reminisce about. I do dig a lot of newer stuff, but mostly because of the beat and vibe of the tune, not so much because of the rapping.

| Any Hip hop heads out there? Posted: 7/14/2012 12:10:46 PM | Yea, right now i'm really heavy into Stones Throw. I can't say who my favorite Rapper or Producer is because so many people bring different things to the table. But Pete Rock, RZA, Hi-Tek, Dilla, Primo, MadLib, 9 Wondra and Black Milk heads my producer list right now and GZA, Ghost, Royce, Talib, Mos, Busta heads my Rapper list. I actually find myself listening to Hopsin a lil. Not really interested in Mainstream but the boy got some flows on him.
I'd be up for a debate tho.

| Any Hip hop heads out there? Posted: 7/16/2012 12:23:48 PM | | Madlib is a good producer, haven't listened to his new ep with Freddie Gibbs yet, I listen to all types of rap/hip hop. Fav new rappers right now that have came out lately with albums or mixtapes are Kendrick Lamar, Asap Rocky, and XV. Fav producers right now are Clams Casino, Premier like always, and Raz Fresco has some nice stuff for being only 17 I think. | |
