DREAMS!Page 1 of 2    (1, 2)
Once I was at a party & there was a married couple there, middle aged. The husband was a conductor for PATH in NJ & the wife had a secretarial job & she was hispanic & had a lil accent. They seemed happy & I asked how they met.

He said he was the typical guy, meeting women at bars sometimes even getting lucky, but sick & tired of it & basically miserable. He said he prayed, really prayed for his future wife to appear. Then he said he had a dream about a woman wearing RED.

She was from another country, she said, visiting & living w/ her aunt & uncle. She was naive & nervous even though her english was good & she had a job in NYC but lived in jersey w/ her aunt & uncle. So it was a Friday nite, after work in the late springtime, she said she felt bored & restless & decided she was gonna shower & get changed & then take the train back into the city & just sight-see & maybe stop in a nice fancy bar 4 a drink & maybe shop a lil if any stores were open. She decided for some weird reason to wear RED pants.

He said he was doing his job, a gazillion people streaming in & out of the train station when he saw RED. He actually made the train wait, cuz he went out in the crowd to try to get to her. His shift was almost over...but it was way too crowded & he had to go back in & be the conductor.

He had to find her, so when his shift was over, he hung around the station, still in uniform, and a few hours later, saw her come back onto the platform/station. He ran up to her.

She said she was afraid, cuz he came out of the blue & all she saw was a uniform. She had been in the US less than a year & was nervous about many things, being where she came from. The man asked her what her name was, but she was afraid to give her real name, so she said LUCY. He asked for her number & her train was coming- she started to realize he was a conductor & wanted a date...

He said he went home & called her right away...and asked when he could see her again. She said her aunt & uncle were taking her out Saturday night it was her birthday, he could join them.

So he met them the next night. He said she was a good girl, she had him go out w/ her & the aunt & uncle, he knew she was wife material.

She said she had to tell her family to put another name on the birthday cake, because he thought she was Lucy!

I met them maybe 7 years ago, they were married for over 25 years & had a daughter away at college.
***************************************************************************************************
I had a dream today (this morning ) about a man, but it seemed so real...I was somewhere @ a BBQ, there were men around...

one of them was walking by towards his house (we were outside, like in a backyard) and I knew he was digging me (it was a dream but in the dream i had the knowledge he was really digging me but he didn't think I was gonna even look at him for some reason) & I looked up at him & we connected-not just on an attraction level but so way beyond that & when our eyes met he was so happy & he was like doing this gesture thing w/ his eyes like "whoa...me???" & I nodded my head & kept looking & we were communicating w/ our eyes the whole time.

He came back outside after he showered & we were talking, no tension, just both so happy, not giddy, but relaxed. We were in his house, it had an enclosed porch, it wasn't prissy, but not a dump either. It was an older house, but not a victorian, more of a larger bungalow. Then I saw a map in my mind, it showed me the town one over from me that my ex lives in & it had some markings on the map, but I did not see the name of the street.

The man looked like (not really like, but reminded me of) Woody Harrelson. His hair was longer, not hippie long, but maybe a short shag sort of, not dark, but not blonde, maybe a sandy color w/ some gray mixed in. He was tallish- not fat, not skinny, a bit casual, like a jeans type guy who was not sloppy either. He was real laid back, into me, but not in a piggish way.

have u ever had a dream like that? it was so cool!

Intriguing Thread &Post &all. Thinking.Dreams.
I have beliefs of Dreams..&I do think they are helpful &can be quite true &all. ...
I had a dream, well few concerning what you wrote on.
I was in Toronto..in ChinaTown where it was old but new..out side..I was by myself but my family was nearby talking to others..I think I was inside but then Im outside..I'm walking &it was abit loud&crowded but I didn't really notice it..it was like I was being underwater where noise &crowds are not visibly as noticed..&Then I look up to the buildings..&I see someone at a window.I ran straight to that building, went inside &dashed up the stairs.I got to a door & opened it..&saw a man inside the room..it was abit empty aside for a bed,&there was some dim light..I stood there &went forward..&I knew he was Orient Chinese. He had short black hair with glasses, not to tall dressed proper. He didn't say a word, didn't quite moved but he seemd to have turned around..yet his back was important as was his face too..though maybe he was quiet..or I didn't acknowledge he spoke..&I thought to myself he is waiting for me,he is the one.(or one of just many perhaps he was a messenger only it didnt appear to be like that)I didn't go close to him,he didn't move to me.I felt a bit excited still calm &then unsure ... &Etcs ToBeCont
I awoke next day..&looked forward to going to Toronto but never had a nerve to just run go to any building..but I wonder still
Dreams too can be cryptic in all its simplicity.

mmmmm, I don't think so. I have actually had a few what I think were genuine "premonition" dreams too, but even during the times when I've believed that precognition was possible, I also found that there is absolutely no reliable way to tell the difference between a "real" see-the-future dream, and some clunky remake of my Dream Guy's version of a wishful-thinking deal.

So no, I wouldn't invest anything in them. Just enjoy them if they seem to be cool, and ignore them when they seem to be uncool, and be willing to let them rattle around in the back of your mind a bit, just in case you are trying to figure something out and tell yourself about it ( the psychological thingy).

much as I'd LIKE TO put stock in some of my dreams ... I've learned not to ...

on the other hand, here's a different kind of dream ...

when I was in the 8th grade, I saw a boy from a distance and really fell for him ... he was just standing there at the top of the wide wooden staircase in the Music Department at Fresno High School, talking with one of the Music Directors ... not that he and I ever spoke or anything ... I was just an 8th grader and he was a Sophomore ... so I knew nothing about him other than he was my idea of perfectly beautiful to look at!!! he exuded confidence ... so self-assured ... I searched for him for a very long time ... I dreamed about him at night ... and searched during the day ... altho only my best friend knew about him, I always referred to him in my mind as my "gold standard" or "the golden boy!"

when I was in my late 40s, I met him face to face for the first time ... it was truly strange ... I looked up and there he was! just standing there, looking every bit as golden as he had the first time ... after many dates, I tried to explain it to him but he wouldn't believe it ... it bothered him, tho, because he HAD BEEN THERE in the Music Department at Fresno High on the date when I'd seen him ... he really worked at NOT believing I'd seem him when we were children! his practical mind couldn't accept something so frivolous and fantastic ...

we dated off and on for 10 years ... shrug ... guess "the golden boy" and I weren't meant to be!! he was more of a "gold standard" than anything else ... I've compared boys and men to him my entire adult life ... and he was an illusion ... which helps to explain why I'm alone now ...

I think it's best FOR ME if my dreams remain in the dream world ... and I stick to reality ... just my humble opinion ... FOR ME, of course !!

The difference between you and him is he truly prayed. Prayed for his future wife to appear, not praying for what he thinks he wants in a woman (looks, brains, personality, etc).

I'm assuming you didn't pray, so I wouldn't take that dream seriously.

Based on something I read some time ago, and with which I agree, I believe dreams are a way of shuffling through what went on the previous day and/or what is on your mind, what you are thinking about, worried about, or things lying deeper in your subconscious, etc. For example, for the past two days, I've been thinking about going to a new hairdresser because I liked the way a colleague's hair looked after she went to this person. Last night I dreamed about getting a haircut and it was awful -- worried the new hairstylist won't be what I hope for. I don't think dreams are premonitions. I think they are feedback on what we are concerned about in daily life and deeper concerns we have from the past. My parents both died about 10 years ago and I spend more time with them in my dreams than I did over the course of my adult life. I guess I miss them more than I thought. I do not think their spirits are visiting me in my sleep. I think it is my subconscious creating all kinds of new experiences with them because I miss them.

OP, I think your friend had a dream and saw a woman in red, probably because red represents passion and romance. When he saw an attractive woman in red, he made a point of meeting her and fell in love with her because he believed it was meant to be. I don't think that we have a soul mate in life, but that we make good relationships with people who are compatible and with whom we connect. It is just coincidence that he and this woman were compatible. It could just as well have been that the woman in red was married or engaged or just not at all a match -- then there would have been no story. We only hear about this one because it worked out the way it did. Probably tens of thousands of times, such things do not at all work out, and we never hear about them.

My mother believed in this dream thing and a few times over the course of my adult life, called me frantically because she had a dream something bad had happened to me. Nothing had, not even close. She was just worrying because she hadn't heard from me in a while.

hmmm....I know that throughout my life I have had detailed dreams about events BEFORE they happened. They always had enough detail about specific people or places I hadn't seen/been yet so there was no way I could have just imagined it. Always, then, when the events unfold...it's like "whoosh" Deja Vu. They have always been about incidental things in life...not major events, but consistently enough for me to believe that dreams do come true. I wouldn't even begin to try to explain it, but there it is.

The other night, though, I had a vivid dream about being concerned that I had no money to buy my sons school clothes. :) LOL--I woke up relieved that they are 39 & 35 years old and buy their own clothes. Whew. Ah, dreams. :)

People may dream things and then subconsciously make them happen, or they may imagine when something is happening that they dreamed it because they feel a sense of deja vu. Or they may look back on and intrepret a dream in a certain way that jives with something that happens later. No scientific studies have proven precognition.

I have been a dream interpreter since I was a child. I just always knew what they meant.

Dreams give us answers for and guide us through, our waking lives.

The man above me that dreams about homework assignments; there are two possibilities for that dream more than 30 years later that you keep dreaming.

1. Pay close attention to what the assignment in the dream is, if the dream shows you. See how it can be applied to your waking life. Example: You dream you have to do a technical writing paper.... In waking life, if you are having issues getting organized and need some clear guidelines to get out of the trenches with something, like relationships, cooking, cleaning your house, etc... the dream is telling you to write down a practical step by step guide of how to get from where you are to meeting your goal; or buy someone else's step by step guide.

I know I need to write a list or steps I am going to take to get some jobs done.

2. Another possible meaning of your dream is reflecting your anxieties about your ability to perform some task at the level you expect yourself to perform it. Maybe you just haven't lived up to your own expectations over and over again, or you feel pressured getting things done on time, so you dream about the pressures of an assignment being due, because there is a correlation in the emotions to those two circumstances.

MANY people find in their 40's and beyond that all of the pressures they have felt their entire lives is due to being in the wrong career. A person may hate having to meet specific deadlines, but can work so easily and happily when it can be on their schedule. However, they are an accountant or a nurse. They may like many aspects of being an accountant or a nurse, but more have the temperament to be an entrepreneur, salesman or artist.

To the OP, I agree the gentleman above who said if you have not sincerely prayed, it is doubtful this dream was any kind of foretelling of your mate. However, it was a telling of what you want, characteristics that speak to your heart, details that you may overlook in waking life.

The couple you met inspired you to believe in divine intervention, want divine intervention, but remember, he did not see details of this woman, he saw one detail that was his trigger and beyond that he had the faith in what he saw (red clothes) to give him confidence to make it work with the woman in red he may meet, if it were possible, and it was. He prayed, he had faith. No questions asked.

You should also pray and accept what the Lord shows you. And like the man in your story, pray often for your husband, don't go asking for details. Often what we think we do not want, is what is right for us and what we think we do want, is always bad for us. This is why we have so many single people....too much tv and movies, not enough meeting real people and talking face to face and going out with understanding and tolerance.

No, you don't know and haven't "always" known "what they meant." You are playing a game, essentially. Are you a scientist? Are you able to provide any empirical evidence that what you are saying about dreams is valid? No, of course not. It's all fantasy, imagination and speculation. It has nothing to do with anything that is a provable fact. It is the same as religion, astrology, and crystal balls. It's all in the mind of the person choosing to believe. Nothing more. There's no more to what you have to say about dreams than what the ladies in Turkey who read wet coffee grounds left in the botton of coffee cups have to say about a person's future.

---I'm thinking that there are many, many as yet unknown phenomena in our universe...all worth continued exploration, Lily--not everything of "truth" is based on imperical evidence. Your opinions and, experiences, "insights" and values do not make other's less meaningful to THEM....at least not in any absolute way other than your apparent absolute faith in empirical evidence. MANY of those studies confirmed by empirical evidence have since proven to be false...I'm sure you know this. Sure, there are charlatans out there and folks who play on the beliefs of others...proof of that is all over the place. Being respectful, though, of others experiences, paths of exploration, and beliefs doesn't make your opinions any more valuable or worthy of consideration. Not sure you could possibly "know" (in this case) absolutely that what someone else "knows" is false. Opinions are just opinions. Just saying. :/

^^^You think I'm being arrogant. IMO it is far, far more arrogant to exclaim, in no uncertain terms that one 'knows' what dreams mean and has known all about this since childhood and then to offer people instructiion on this subject. Someone who has absolutely no evidence of any kind to back up what she is saying, not any kind of proof to support such claims. Is my critical thinking and questioning to be demeaned while someone who has apparently never even considered the concept of critical thinking to be given a vast expance of politically correct sympathy? Well, not from me.

I have a dream journal on my twitter. They are more complex but twitter won't let me write that much.

-Patrick Swayze made me a pair of dentures, but I couldn't use them.

-Henry the 8th started throwing dried fruit & nuts at me because I wouldn't massage his nose.

-My male friend was giving birth. While I was rubbing oil on his stomach, the baby arrived. My friend wouldn't stop spanking the baby.

-I ran away from home with a strange boy and girl. I later found out they were not real, just extensions of my personality.

-My paralyzed grandmother got out of her wheelchair, dislocated her 4 limbs then jumped on the ceiling. She took a knife and tried to kill me

-Justin Bieber and I went shopping for a tractor that ran strictly on peanut butter.

-My neighbor got obsessed with eating soda crackers and making models of our town from jello cubes.

Eternityoptics, you are lucky those were not actually real dreams.

If they were you should probably seek therapy for your feelings of isolating insecurity and sexual attraction to justin beiber...

just for the entertainment value:

-Patrick Swayze made me a pair of dentures, but I couldn't use them.
First... a series of fantasy interactions with famous people indicates a severe problem of self-identification. Interactions with fantasy people to this degree in dreams would require a significant disconnect from the real world of people and a desire to live with the influence of the 'stars'. Next, dentures.... teeth... would say this indicates speaking. Your transference of feelings to characters Patrick Swayze has played as roles of how you imagine him to be in real life and that his persona is faked by his ability to communicate and the attempt to emulate that fakeness fails you.

-Henry the 8th started throwing dried fruit & nuts at me because I wouldn't massage his nose.
Seriously??? Fruit, nuts, and a metaphorical reference of 'nose' as 'knows'. He knows you are a fruit and a nut and he is throwing that at you.

-My male friend was giving birth. While I was rubbing oil on his stomach, the baby arrived. My friend wouldn't stop spanking the baby.
This is really into the world of homosexuality juxtaposed with the desire to have a baby. It really pisses someone off.

-I ran away from home with a strange boy and girl. I later found out they were not real, just extensions of my personality.
And here we go down the road of gender identity... you ran away from home meaning that you want to run away from the gender you were born with... the extensions of personality are the acceptance of both sexualities. Having them external still is a high concern that these facts are deeply rooted in emotional trauma and denial.

-My paralyzed grandmother got out of her wheelchair, dislocated her 4 limbs then jumped on the ceiling. She took a knife and tried to kill me
Here we get to the interesting parts of the sexual identity issues. Grandmother would seriously turn into the devil on you and really go all exorcist on you. Disappointment of family values.

-Justin Bieber and I went shopping for a tractor that ran strictly on peanut butter.
Another famous figure and disconnect from real life. Tractor represents manly things. runs on peanut butter... really? You should be able to work out the sexual references for yourself.

-My neighbor got obsessed with eating soda crackers and making models of our town from jello cubes.
Ok... so there is something about your neighbor that fits into your whole building a facade of society that is basically weak and will crumble while your words are jingly and flamboyant... yes I reversed crackers and jello cubes from the mouth of crackers to jello and to the town as soda crackers.

This was for entertainment value only :)

Well...I don't know what to say about that. I don't believe any of it to be true, but it is dream analysis...still, some of that is pretty far off. If I explain the whole dream you would see it differently.

Patrick swayze made me a pair of dentures from the teeth he collected while fighting people in Roadhouse, which is the
movie I had watched before I went to sleep lol.

For the male friend baby thing...it wasn't my baby. There was a little talk going around that 2 of my friends were gay. I actually hate kids.

For some reason, I always thought my grandmother was faking being paralyzed. Her jumping out of the wheel chair would frighten me to death.

That justin bieber thing is based on a King of the Hill episode. Where they hunt the animals in the mall. We were hunting justin and I found him up in the rafters. He turned out to be a nice guy and he wanted a tractor that ran on peanut butter.

I wouldn't mind posting more to see what you think lol

Just so you know... I made all of that up. Of course you won't find it to be true. I fall asleep with the TV on all the time and only rarely has the sound created a meshed dream and the times that it did where I remembered was because it also woke me up. If this happens to you often... turn the tv off or set a timer to turn off the tv... your interfering with your sleep.

The grandmother one makes sense to me. I had an aunt that was severely handicapped. I wasn't scared by her but I do remember the smell from childhood and have had that occur in a few dreams many many years ago.

The only person that can interpret your dreams is you. Only you know how each symbol made you feel. If the grandmother one you had felt love toward her and she morphed on you that would be a fear of her turning against you. You felt afraid of her and she morphed into what you feared so you watched horror movies and turned her into something she wasn't. Not kewl man :))

Anyway, turn the tv off when you sleep. If you fall asleep with it on just get a timer or use the built in sleep feature. You really do seem to have too much integration with tv in your dreams and you aren't recognizing that so I would still suggest a little bit of therapy as well. It can't hurt.
