| | the word LOLPage 1 of 1 | why do people over the age of 18 use this, drive me daft
Girls dont use it, its the biggest turn off
well nearly as bad as telling a guy you want kids on the first date
What words put you off that boys use ?
|
| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 12:12:23 PM | | I use it bc sometimes I'm being sarcastic and someone takes something literally-it's just a little tool to guide the overly serious folk in the right direction...No biggie all in all......... | |
|
| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 12:16:57 PM | It helps differentiate between a comment being taken lightly or seriously, and you might not like it but you can't speak for every man and whether it turns him off.
Oops I forgot to include what words guys use that put me off... the word 'don't' is at number one! lol.

I agree..What is so bad about LOL...would you rather someone to type out..."I am laughing because I am joking" or " I am laughing because you are funny" or....
It is hard to tell through text, chat or email whether someone is joking or not. What would you rather we use OP? How about JK? Are you against that as well? :)

What is so bad about LOL
It looks really tacky when a girl types this...in her own profile. Who laughs at stuff they themselves write?
Furthermore, it's really tacky when a girl verbally says "lol" instead of just laughing or smiling.
|
| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 12:55:41 PM | | men who type " hey"...and that's all....lolololol :) | |
|
| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 12:58:12 PM | I see in in too many of the profiles. It bugs me too. I don't like insincere lol use. Right up there with the misuse of "literally". celebs are bad with that in public appearances, "my stomach literally exploded, I was laughing so hard". oh really? that must be messy. | |
|
| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 1:16:18 PM | | Well, to be fair, when girls expect a guy to message them first, we have to put in the effort and when you don't have much to read or go on it's very hard to go on. So I don't blame guys for just saying hey. | |
|
| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 1:35:43 PM | I hate seeing LOL as well, but I respect the fact that others don't. My favourite profiles to read are when the girl can be friggin' hilarious without having to use the stupid word. If you can be funny in your profile by the way you write, not necessarily by WHAT you write, you're definitely funny in real life.
It's a real shame none of these profiles I mentioned ended up writing back...
|
| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 2:16:35 PM | | i write LOL because 99.9% of the time I am literally "laughing out loud"..not out of spite, but because I thought it was funny, or silly, or just a jester..kinda like a force of habit..I don't see anything wrong with it other then it has been wheeled in as part of some kind of "text trend" "laugh out loud" ( now writing out "lol" is not as fun as typing out "LOL")...I mean seriously, is it really that much of a big deal?..:)....I can't imagine what other little unnecessary word or thing can be an annoyance or nuisance on this site and later rationalized in a POF thread...however, I do see where you're coming from...just sharing my opinion! | |

| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 3:18:59 PM | Words that aren't properly punctuated and capitalized out me off. | |

|
| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 3:41:51 PM | | I find that people insert "LOL" as a filler - because they haven't anything better to say. And, when they just say "hey" in the presence of a lot to discuss, it demonstrates they are unable (or unwilling) to comprehend what was thoughtfully written. | |

Who laughs at stuff they themselves write?
I laugh at stuff that I write as well as what I say. Big deal. I even laugh at myself.
That is how big of a goofball I am.
There is nothing tacky about it, nor stupid.
|
| the word LOL Posted: 6/19/2012 4:30:36 PM | I suppose LMAO would be out of the question then? By the way, LOL isn't a word.
Well, then you can thank your generation for that then. It's the dumbing down of society. I do enjoy STFU though. I will thank everyone for that one.
Hmmm, let's see what annoys me and that guys shouldn't do??? How about bathroom mirror pics with cellphones. Yeah, that's annoying. Oh you mean words. Well, guys using the words "bro" or "brah". Also, "smh" annoys me. Come to think of it, most text speak annoys me except for what I mentioned. Now get off my lawn kid!
