| | women never do cool things like guys do?Page 1 of 1 | I was listening to an older woman lament this to a younger one. The older woman is caretaking a husband with long term health issues, so that may have been her real reason (ie, projection) for expressing that out loud.
Yet, the younger girl agreed--women don't shoot guns, bang gears in muscle cars, play paintball, explore the outdoors, etc. Sure, some of these seem to be "menstuff", but it doesn't have to be, right? Or maybe what both women were not seeing was, women do fun "womenstuff".
Now, I know, not all women are like this--I've met some. Dated a few. But maybe that was my attraction to them, they did stuff. I've met more beautiful women, however, who did seem to need a man to take them out to "do stuff". Maybe they just didn't feel safe going to a gun range by themselves. But its funny how some times, these particular women have also lamented not doing fun, physical stuff or saying they'd do it someday.
So, I'll strap on my asbesdos suit for the flames, and you tell me what you think/do about this theory... | |

Posted: 6/27/2012 7:31:28 AM | Many people are guilty of not following thier desires unless they have a mate to do so with. They put themselves into limbo land...waiting, and waiting for thier mate to arrive, twiddling thier thumbs and bored while doing so.
The reality is...if you have always wanted to learn to shoot-go do it alone! You'll have fun, maybe meet new people while you are at it, and when you do meet new people in other venues, now you are interesting because you are living a life! You have stores to tell, experiences to share! But for some reason, most people dont want to anything alone. They complain how boring life is and that no one they are attracted to likes them back...well, what do you have to offer to someone who is interesting, if all you do is wait for other people all of time? That is not interesting.
It is ironic, that in N America, everyone says as adults we should live alone. If we desire to live with family, we are not date worthy.So...we live alone. Great. Then...we wait to do anything because we dont want to do it alone. We dont want to enter certain venues alone, dine out alone, take up hobbies alone, be seen alone.... Makes no sense to me. | |

Been with tons of gals that would camp and fish. Stand around at Bass Proshops talking to me etc.... And I shopped with them for dresses and went to garage sales and flea markets etc... We shared out lives. Dont expect gals to go shoot with you unless you want to shoe shop and go wine tasting.
None of us were big on the whole opera or art shows really although we could swallow it for short periods.
But I dated gals that came from hunting families. They didnt hunt but me spending money on guns ALL etc.. was all good. The ALL could shoot a pistol for defense. But they was their choice. The important thing to remember is YOU should also be willing to do THEIR stuff with them.
But I never seek out gals that paintball or love muscle cars. My search is simple. I want a FUN cute gal that laughs a lot and enjoys life. I like to dance and party a little. I like to cook out for friends etc... Someone open to TRYING new things.
But as long as they respect me and allow me to enjoy activities that they dont but try and share some activities together then I am FINE. You dont have to spend every second together.

Posted: 6/27/2012 7:43:01 AM | I have my own weapons... Love my firearms. I have no problem hitting the gun range alone. I also shoot recurve bow. I was outside this AM getting the feel for my new bow.
I wish I had the extra cash for a muscle car... But my guy has a few so I get my fix through him and through my other gear head friends.
I go hiking... I am an avid trail rider.. I would hit the trails solo just me and my horses all the time.
I love amusement parks bring on the roller coasters.
Most of my favorite activities are not considered girly girl. I enjoy playing rough and tumble sports. Rugby, field hockey (prefer to play with men, women are too scared of throwing an elbow), ice hockey, roller derby...
I do not need my guy to take me out. It is nice when he does, but I am perfectly able of entertaining myself. | |

I love to shoot pistols and rifles, but lost those in the divorce. :) So now I go out with friends with guns to get that thrill. I love to camp, and do so 5-6 times a year with friends or my Girl Scout troop. I will never do that completely on my own because it wouldn't be safe or fun. I don't think waiting for a partner is a bad thing to enjoy some of the less female friendly activities. I think that is me knowing my limits when it comes to those things, and choosing wisely my companions for a fun experience. | |

You don't mention anything about that in your profile. The only "shooting" you mention is "shooting pool."
I have specific searches I run periodically, that include either "hunting" or "shooting" as interests. If a woman doesn't like doing either, at least enough to actually MENTION IT IN HER PROFILE, then I'm not going to find her using those searches. | |

I'm not into guns or shooting guns. Tried that once...my neighbor gently removed the gun from my hand and told me I couldn't hit the broad side of the barn which was true! LOL My dad was real old fashioned and would not allow us to touch his guns deeming them "unladylike" for girls. But he did teach us to respect them and what they could do. Oh and I don't mind going fishing once in a while either. I do get a thrill from passing cars on the road...especially when I know their car has more horsepower than mine. I love going to car museums or car shows but again that is more fun with a partner. And I get a kick out of spotting those types of cars when out driving. | |

Posted: 7/15/2012 12:00:19 PM | hmm perhaps its your area. back home (Yukon Canada) the girls do all the same stuff the guys do, i live in vancouver bc now and i notice the girls here dont really do any fun cool things either. i get told all the time they think im joking when i tell them im a welder pipeliner, or they think im trying to pick up guys or whtever, its pretty ****ed that thats all they think, but thats becuz thats what they know.
im not sure why its like this but i consider myself a girly girl, i just do lots of different things, was raised to not place the stuff i do into categories formen or women ONLY. | |

I also cycle, MTB and snowboard. My friends joke that I'm the "man" in their lives . I also have a hard time getting men to do these things with me 'cuz they are "boys only" trips.

I wholeheartedly agree. "shopping" and "cooking" and "my dog" seem to be about all that's mentioned. Occasionally a couple more things...but still...
If you play guitar or other instruments, list it.
If you like horror movies most of all, list it.
If you like racing, list it.
auto mechanics? list it
solo flying? list it
fencing? list it
gardening? list it
electronics? you get the idea...
You don't list it, we can't find it.
An as example, I just ran a search for "Autocross" as an interest. SIX results nationwide.
We have a lot of women autocrossers in my local car club. Matter of fact, one of them is our national champion. | |

From what I've seen, about 95% of the women here don't think to list their interests, or not much other than "shopping." It is really that women are just boring? I don't think so...
We can't read your mind. We want to know what your species does for fun.
You have several listed, I see. Should try the "pro" guitar controller for Rock Band some time. =)
Lots of people just don't have hobbies other than watching TV, and it's sad. Being on my own, I'd go crazy if I didn't have my hobbies to keep me company.
I find it sad as well. Then they expect you to entertain them, like you're their personal tour guide, theater operator, etc. What dull lives. | |

Things I don't say are the guns, roller coasters, fishing, snow skiing, 4 wheelers, jet skis, white water rafting, corn hole... there are endless activities that I enjoy, but are more minor in the scheme of things. Those are also the things that will come out quickly once I start talking to someone and we discover all types of mutual interests. But I will admit that I have never searched based on interests, so I can see how that would make a difference. | |

I'd be tickled to death to find a gal around here who does autocross... or even knows what it is without having to use Google. I spent *A LOT* of the hostile-fire pay from my second tour of Iraq on my second vehicle to set it up for autocross, solo, open track... that sort of thing. I just have one more little mod to make and I'm good to go. You got only *SIX* piddly results? Wow... that's even worse than what I get from my "hunting" searches. | |
