Reached maximum number of posts on a thread?Page 1 of 1
I've recently tried to post on a thread that I've posted no more than five times on and when I try to post again, it's telling me I've reached my maximum number of posts for that thread. Is this something new?? It's ridiculous. Has anyone else had this problem?

You know it is not new, because you've asked this question before in the forums.

Read the rules if you really want to clear up the confusion. This one in particular was probably instituted for the benefit of people who come into the forum thinking it is a chat room.

It does get used like that, but wasn't originally intended so.

Reached maximum number of posts on a thread?

I've tried to find something about this and have not been able to and my other post to this I am unable to find so I don't know what's up with that. Do you realize how hard it is to find answers to some of the questions in the forums? I've tried....there are a lot of posts.

I seldom post in the forums anyway but what's the point when you can't even get into a discussion about the original post?

mods can set a maximum number of posts in a thread here. It will apply to everyone not just you. Its done to get new voices instead of the same people dominating a thread and not actually adding anything new.

Usually but not always its threads complaining here in this forum section or long threads with to much flaming by a handful of posters.

The max number is usually five. Just my opinion but if you cant share your thoughts in 5 posts or less you need to work on your communication skills.

With regards to functionality, it's very easy.

-> Plentyoffish Site/Suggestions/Help (The same section you posted this thread in)
-> ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) (Pinned in position at the top with bright red text)

Within that, there's an entire section called
-> Forum Posting which is explained as including 'Questions about the Forum Discussion Groups, Posting to Them, Restrictions and Thread Search Instructions.'

Reached maximum number of posts on a thread?

Thanks for the explanation Cowboy. There have been times when I've said something...someone farther down said something that I agreed with and wanted to reply to, etc. Maybe I should hone my skills a little more or try to consolidate all my replies in one post because I can get chatty at times. I guess that's why they limit the number of posts...ha ha. Now that I know this, I can do that.

As far as searching the forums sometimes you have to know what the key word is you're looking for. I don't know that I would search for "restrictions" to answer my question.

Fortunately, I don't use the forums a lot so I don't really seeing it a problem for me...usually.

No its not hard. Whats the real subject of your thread? Now go search this forum section only for "max posts". There are several titled "Maximum number of posts per thread". I mean almost word for word your exact title. But just pick a couple key words like "max posts" gets almost any variation.

Good Luck

Or as directed, go to the FAQ's and look at all the subcategories, in this case FORUMS and then click on that and read the sub category titles, in this case Restrictions. Consider the FAQ's like an index in a book.
