How to stop seeing someone's profilePage 1 of 1
Hi, wonder if someone can help me here.
There is a user who I exchanged messages and chatted with some time ago. He has now hidden his profile but I keep seeing the 'chat with X' thingy, showing that he is online, popping up in my inbox. Can I somehow stop this appearing?

Do you have any messages left? Block him and it will go away. Other then that it will leave on its own after 20 to 30 days I dont remember which

No messages left, inbox or outbox. Just the chat thing with the green dot
If you block someone will their profile disappear from searches too?
And also, don't you need to have messages in order to block someone.
Thanks

No blocking only stops further communication and keeps them from favoriting you etc..

Yes thats why I asked if you still had any messages from him in your inbox

You can always message him again and when he replies then BLOCK HIM (wink)

Good Luck

That's what cowboy meant when he asked do you have any messages left.

when you block someone as far as I know it only blocks them from contacting you.

Ahh, thanks for this guys. No I meant how can I stop seeing their profile altogether, to be honest we wouldn't really be contacting each other any more.Clearly there isn't such an option unless they hide their profile, and they've now unhidden it so keep popping up all over the place :-(

how can I stop seeing their profile altogether...

You can block their pictures as needed which I find to be very effective. I use the Block Content feature in Opera and can pretty much zap pics with just a few clicks. If they change their photo, just block it too or go to their profile and block all their thumbnail photos, large size ones too if you like to play with Meet Me.

Remember the profile still shows it is just the pics you can block. So he is still in searches etc... And I wouldnt recommend this as you are not technical and you can screw up and block all images from this site by mistake.

1) Quit using internet explorer and switch to FireFox
2) Add a FireFox "add on" called adblock plus
3) Go to the image you want to block and right click
4) At the bottom is now an option called "Ad Block Plus block image"

I would not recommend trying to block a profile pic this way but switching to FireFox and installing ad block plus gets rid of all the ads on this site and the rest of the web and is worth it just for that.

Thanks Cowboy, I will give it a go. Heard of Firefox but not sure how to go about it, well this is not an IT forum so I don't expect people to explain this to me here :-) But will look into it. Thanks again!

Thanks, yep will google it. take it you just use FireFox instead of Explorer, presumably Explorer still appears on your screen etc but just don't use it? Simple as (hopefully..)?

Didn't realise there was an IT forum here so will definitely have a look.

FireFox is better in every way. Yes it does not remove IE from your system. You can choose what to use always. It will import all your bookmarks/favorites etc from IE when you install it. FireFox is just safer and a better browser in every way.

Here is a link for the very latest version of FireFox

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

After install look for how to install "add ons" in the help.

Search for an add on called "Ad Block Plus". There will be TONS of other ad blocker software but look for that one.

Good Luck
