Posted: 7/8/2012 8:50:29 AM | Glad to help. Means that person didnt want to chat with you. They just let it sit there until it timed out.
Its considered a rude way to make first contact. Whatever percentage your getting on replies to your first contact messages is here, divide by 10 and thats your success rate to pray for trying to use chat as a way to make first contact.

The owner of this site has stated a new chat program will be released in a few weeks that will also be compatible with phones and touch screen tablets etc...
Just hang tight for it. No new program is going to fix the OP's problem as most do not want to "chat" with strangers.
Its not a way to make first contact. If you are sending out 100 real messages and getting a handful of replies expect a much smaller reply rate to your chat requests. It is a rude way to make first contact here. Its a next step to progress to after you have messaged someone not a way to make first contact.

Posted: 7/15/2012 6:20:59 PM | I kind of like the chat feature, I think the issue is more an outdated java-script, or flash related than anything else or even some tracker redirect is hanging. I didn't want to waste the time looking at processes and crash logs. I got the big white screen crash and hangs, and now the no response messages.
But now I know I should just click like a fiend and maybe two or three messages will get through. A few chat requests came my way and I felt like such a knob not being able to at least answer sorry about that!
*Suggestion Box;
You know what would be better if POF had a Mumble server. You could have password protected voice chats and specific chat-rooms for subjects etc.. Its open source and uses very little bandwidth. The pay version gives more slots and more controls of course and the latest build works great. It's on Sourceforge. | |

I hate our flash chat... There are always a million and one problems with it.
In the next 2 weeks or so we should have it completely replaced with a new chat system that can be used on the Ipad and phone
I haven't been able to post in the "official" IM/Chat thread at the top of the PoF PlentyOfFish Site/Suggestions/Help thread as I've used up all my up at bats in that thread. | |

Posted: 7/17/2012 4:40:22 AM | online button is currently working for me. But POF has constant glitches that get fixed in a matter of minutes or hours usually. When something like this happens just go grab a cold beer from the fridge and wait a few hours and try again. this is the best advice for most POF feature related problems.
