Thai basil, I have some growing on my porch this year, first time I've grown it. This sounds like dinner tonight, I already have everything to make it. Just need a bunch of pot stickers to go with it.

I remember when I went to an Asian market and asked for pot stickers....daughter had them when visiting a friend on the west Canadian coast. i had no idea what they were. The clerk there said "oh, you mean dumplings" and looked at me like the silly Canadian I was! lol....
OT: I would be interested in knowing what to marinade the pork in as well? And Tai basil? Hmmm...never had it

Our local market makes them fresh everyday and I buy them often. Without input from Blah I'm going to guess at the marinade and use some soy, fresh ginger, garlic and a tad bit of corn starch.

I think I'll just buy breakfast pork sausage next time. I was trying to stay away from an Asian taste on this one but sesame oil would work too. You can add a good amount of basil because the overall heartyness of the dish can handle it maybe 2 tbls. I forgot to list about 5 cloves of garlic and a half of jalapeno in the saute or red pepper flakes.

| Pork and Pineapple Rice Posted: 7/10/2012 9:12:32 PM | i think this sounds great...well..except for the bell peppers
instead of ground pork.....why not use a couple of boneless pork chops.....cut into slivers.....?
i think they would have a lot more flavor.....for sure they would take the marinade better
i think i'll add a tablespoon of either fish sauce or oyster sauce when i try it.[it doesnt taste at all fishy..........but man does it add flavor]

| Pork and Pineapple Rice Posted: 7/10/2012 9:43:25 PM | Yeah well, this is how it went for dinner tonight. I was cooking with 5 kids and the basset hound in the front of the house with me, my focus wasn't at %100. So, couldn't find the ground pork in the freezer ~ maybe it went into a pot of chili, who knows really, but I found a package of pork rib-eyes which I sliced into strips. I went with the soy, garlic, ginger and dried red chili flakes on the pork, added some fresh snow peas with the other veggies, just cause I could. Anywho, got everything cooked and on the table, but kept feeling like I forgot something. Oh well, we ate and it was really good, then I was back in the kitchen and there was the basil and almonds still on the counter. Yeah, wish I'd remembered, but another time, right? I'll make this again Blahah, thanks for sharing.. Oh Rax I added some fish sauce too, I also love the way it kicks up the flavor.
