Awesome Grilled Cheese SandwichPage 1 of 1
Okay, I just made this awesome grilled cheese sandwich.

Basically you take really thin sliced cured prosciutto (got from Costco)

Then this really cool cheese which was like a cross between really old white cheddar and Parmesan (can't find package. I may update later if I get more of this cheese. It was a triangle cut from a circle with a crust if that helps. Kind of like a Gouda)

Then butter both sides of apple cinnamon bread and fry the contents in a sandwich.

AWESOME! The salty sweetness was really cool, and the bread I used was firm and hearty.

You could probably use a really old cheddar and get good results too!

It sparked the idea for next thanks giving when I will attempt a grilled turkey sandwich on cranberry bread. Now I just need a good cheese to go with it......

Try Fontina or the Gouda would be great.

I love to use raisin bread to make grilled cheese, I too love the sweet and salty flavors together.

Actually at the restaurant I work at my chef made prosciutto crisps by rendering them in oil. They taste very very close to bacon, almost identical if it was an un-smoked bacon.

Paul, msg. 8: Thank you! I'll be on the lookout................

I remember, years ago, trying to talk my uncle in to trying a fake bacon that I LOVE!! I told him it tasted JUST LIKE BACON! He finally agreed to try it............looked at me and said, "It's obvious you haven't had real bacon in quite a while"!!!! Haaaaaaaaaa!! He hasn't trusted me since. :)
