Three years ago I met my (now) fiance. There I sat at work, bored to death, and looking through the POF profiles. There was this little blond lady with a nice profile so I said "why not...". I opened the chat window, tried to wow her with my sense of humor and then convinced her to meet me for dinner the following night.....
Date night..... We met at a place near where we live called "Fishmongers". It's the kind of place that doesn't allow for pretense because you eat with your hands. The conversation went so well, I suggested we walk to another place for dessert. So we walked to the swanky place that I had in mind and still the conversation was great.
First kiss..... happened as we were getting ready to leave the place that we had walked to. We decide to walk to a bar across the street and continue our conversation.....
Fast forward 1 year...... she tricked me into letting her know that I planned on proposing..... I had gone to a jewelry store to have my mothers diamond set into a new ring. I wanted them to do it that day so that I could have it ready for dinner that night. My cell phone rings.... "Hi hon, what's up" "just thought I would call and see what you were up to.." "I can't tell you but I have a big surprise for you and I am leaving the store now." "I thought we had decided to wait on all of that" ... I almost wrecked my car. "what are you talking about???" "I thought we had decided to wait on getting a new stove" "Hon I went to JARRED" (yes, a cliche line I know..) so with a knowing "ahhhh ok" she said she would come over to my place at about 6pm.
I had made reservations at a really romantic restaurant. Had I had the time, I would have had flowers delivered but there was no way..... the candle on the table would have to do. The wait staff, forewarned, knew what was up. I couldn't wait until after dinner, so after the wine came I dropped down on one knee and proposed right there. She cried, hugged me, and said yes :-) Everyone there saw what happened and started clapping and cheering. It was a great night.
Fast forward 3 years to now...... we plan to have a 1920's theme wedding (think Boardwalk Empire) at a vintage theater built in the late 20's. We live together and I try to make her laugh so hard she snots... lol. It would seem that POF actually works because we are completely happy with one another.

Congrats and it's so happy to read that you and your fiancee wanted to make it work. Your story gives me hope that maybe one day I will find a great fish on my fishing rod.

Good to hear that! I met my late husband through POF. We had 3 wonderful years together but he died 2 days after our 2nd Anniversary. He treated me like a Queen and totally restored my faith in men.
