Any e-cig users out there?Page 1 of 1
Thinking about giving them a try. I know they aren't "healthy", but they can't be as bad as a regular cigarette. Just wondering how similar to the real thing they are. Don't want to throw a bunch of money at something that I'll just toss in a drawer. And if you know of a deal on-line or at a store for a good brand, I would appreciate the info.

Thanks for the input!

OK. That link goes to a post discussing what one should put in their profile after switching to e-cigs.

What you are expecting will change what you get out of it. If you expect to replace the real thing with something that feels the same you will be let down. If you want to change and want something to fill the gap along the way it can help.

They are a pain. Much cheaper than they use to be. Performance increased while cost dropped. The simple cheap ones that you can get in regular corner markets that come like a pack of cigarettes I think those are designed to cost you more money. The slightly more expensive batteries and replaceable cartridges with liquids that can be purchased are more effective.

Then you find out there is a whole community out there with all types of tricks to get them to work a bit better. I wouldn't modify one as that can result in one blowing up in your face. However, for the model I had, I found that covering one of the air holes made it work much better.

Finally, it is frustrating to maintain. Keeping the stupid thing charged... always seems to run out of power when you really need it... losing the charging pieces, difficult to find local stores that sell replacement cartridges to fit your model... it is really frustrating and pretty much got me to quit smoking entirely. I was already able to go through a weekend without smoking before I used them though so your experience will likely vary.

Also... it is pretty funny after a while of not having a real one and trying it again. It's like the first time you smoked again. Tastes and smells like crap. You are glad to go back to the fake one and not smell again.

I am totally able to be around a group of people smoking and drinking at a bar and not feel like I'm stressing out for not having one. If I did feel the stress it is a simple crutch.

Good luck.

You read one post. Keep reading. The goal is to keep like discussions together here. Not have 10 e-cig threads.

Just add your thoughts/questions into the existing thread. Its covered a LOT of ground beyond the OP's original post.

So, let me get this right in my head here. On this forum, it's ok to hijack someone else's thread? Wow! I've been on many forums through the years and that's always been frowned upon. The only thing my thread has in common with the other is "e-cigs". So, with that in mind, instead of having 1000's 0f threads about "dating", they should all be in one thread? Am I thinking about this correctly?

You need to read the rules.

Also I remember reading that thread cowboy suggested as when I started using the forums I had just given them up. I remember the OP starts off asking about what to put on her profile and it also discusses E ciggerettes in general

So if I'm talking about dating and a thread brings first dates in general into it then YES you should put your first date experience in that thread

Thank you very much Aries for your incite.

As for the other two folks commenting, I'm not going to hijack someone else's thread. Nor am I going to resurrect a thread that is months (if not years) out of date. If you don't like that, feel free to take it up with a moderator and let them handle it. That's what they are here for. If this thread is in violation, the mods can feel free to delete it. You folks have a great day.

If anyone else has info they would care to share on their recent experiences with e-cigs, I'm all ears. Thanks again!

Hi, I have been using them for about 2 years. I love them. No bad smell. Plus you are right, they are not as bad as regular cigs. They are not less expensive though. The Walgreens here in Wisc have disposable elec cigs for around 9.99.
They have the "blu" brand and the "finity" brand. The blu lasts longer, but I think the finity tastes better. You can try it out with out much of an expense.

Hey man, I came across your thread here because the other night I saw an ad while browsing around this site for a brand called Clover. They bill them selves as "Boston's Finest" which is great for me as I live in Boston have been buying them from my local 711 for the past few months. I was surprised when I saw the ad here as it had some good looking deals compared to what they mark them up in the stores for.

I tried the the rechargeable ones a few years back, but the disposable version these guys have are pretty convenient because you just toss it when it's kicked and they last what would normally take me a couple packs to smoke through.

I was able to find their regular site cloverecigs.com, but I'll still be clicking around for the ad here to try and find that deal again.

Anyway, I can personally say these are a quality product, so just a friendly heads up if you happen to catch the ad floating around this site.

Cheers!

I use them as a crutch. It's the smoke I want to have when I can't have it. I keep one or two around. As for if I was to quit smoking, I wouldn't even bother with them.

I fly fairly often and noticed recently that when they made the announcement about not smoking, the included electronic cigarettes. No electronic cigarettes allowed. If they are so harmless, why are they not allowed on planes? My opinion about them is that they are indeed a crutch. You're better off just quitting. The actual addiction to nicotine leaves your body in 3 days. After that, it is all emotional habit anyway. I realize it isn't easy.

Because it freaks people out. Has nothing to do with health. It scares people.

They do sometimes malfunction, and can you imagine the panic if this happened on a plane.....

The evacuation of a coach on the M6 toll road which caused long tailbacks on one of the country's busiest roads was a terror scare caused by the smoke vapour from an electronic cigarette, police have revealed.

Smokers trying to quit cigarettes using nicotine vapourisers may be causing damage to their lungs, according to new study

Seems they may not be so harmless after all.

Well, it seems bottled water is worse
http://www.diabetichealthyresources.com/bottled-water-in-your-car-is-very-dangerous/

Which btw... I do not have plastic botteled water everywhere I go. If I put something in the microwave, which is infrequently, I do not use plastic.

Yes, they do need to have unbiased testing. Not testing from the OMG IT KILLS crowd. Actual tests with actual attempts to find the causes and effects. I have always avoided the 'flavored' ones because they are additives and oil based. Anything other then nicotine is a wild card.

That does not make them 'more harmful' then smoking or less harmful then being in a closed room with hepa filtered air.

What is true is that there are zero harmful second hand effects. There is no smell. There is no tar or 500 or so other toxins. `

I tried them once... gave me a sore throat worse than if I had smoked unfiltered camels. With me I found (and of course I realize that this is probably the reason why I got the sore throat).... it teases you with a bit of pleasure and therefore you haul on it for more.

You final decision is yours to make, but I'll never waste my cash on them again...

Even tried the weed e-cig too... told the vendor that maybe if I actually lit it and melted the plastic that maybe I would get a high off of it..... another waste of cash.
