I can get into the site via the forum url.

I just did a search by username - and copy and pasted the name to the search.
It is working for me now, so hopefully yours will work again soon... | |

Yeah I'm using username search instead. That it's started working for you suggests an update hasn't replicated to all the servers yet. | |

Posted: 7/24/2012 5:47:43 PM | I have had intermittent problems for 24 hours. Nothing anyone can do but just relax and hang in there for now. Ya know how POF works. Its fixed when its fixed. We will never hear a peep about it 99 percent of the time.

Posted: 7/26/2012 7:42:45 AM | ^^^ Pinky this site is a LOT more stable today then it has been the last couple. I get that error now mostly only trying to hit profiles from the forums. If you get the user name you can search and find it and read the profile. A few more steps but I couldn't reliably even connect to the dating site or do a lot of stuff 48 hours ago. It got a little better yesterday and its better yet for me today. I KNOW its frustrating but just hang tight

Im not the most patient person at the best of times but at least i remembered to type in pof.com when i logged in this time and i was able to click on a profile from the Forums...........phew......its just so damned annoying but i know it wont be like this forever :)

Posted: 7/27/2012 9:01:54 AM | Same thing happens to me for a couple of days. I am still amazed with how many POF things get broke!
As a workaround, in a CMD window, ping both pof and plentyoffish using the full www and .com names. The IP address will be different. Note the IP address of both. Find the windows hosts file and map the plentyoffish IP address to the POF website. Will work after reboot.
Note: Changing the hosts file is also how Virus and bad hackers gain control of web sites they want you to go. On the other hand, you can use the hosts file to stop access to unwanted web sites - for example there are hosts files on the web that stop access to all the porn sites (good for kids). | |

Try pof.com instead of plentyoffish.com.
The "view profile" link points to the plentyoffish domain, not the POF domain. If that's the problem, the webmaster needs to edit the link to reflect the correct URL. | |
