| | What is "Flirt Option" and how dose it work?Page 1 of 1 | I have received e-mails that say "Hello Bobby Z man, (user name) has expressed interest in you! (This is a flirt option for women)"
Two that I have replied to have said that they never "flirted" with me, one of them stating that they never would since I don't have a public photo.
Obviously, as the line states, this is an for women only option. But, since I haven't found any information yet in the help page as to how it works and what women do to trigger this "Flirt" option, I thought that I would ask the question here in the forums.

| What is Flirt Option and how dose it work? Posted: 7/25/2012 3:51:45 AM | Women have the ability to send an automated flirt message when they are viewing your profile. It's a conscious decision - they are expressing interest but not confident enough to send a message.
If they are saying they didn't do it - they either changed their mind or 'accidentally' clicked to send a flirt. Not impossible but highly unlikely.
It's an obvious section of the profile, set apart from anything else. Immediately below your main photo but above the Send a Quick Message text area, is the sentence Just want to send a flirt? Show you're interested! which has a button labelled Show Interest beside it. This line of text and the associated button is in a little boxed area by itself.
Clicking on the button, sends the instant message you have received. To be fair, when this first came out, and I tried it, I was anticipating some ability to add a little message or confirm but that doesn't happen. It instantly sends a message. That said, once you've sent one, it's clear that it's instant. A copy of the automated message is shown in our Send Folder and if someone responds to a Flirt, the automated message is included in the threaded conversation.
So, when you responded to her, the auto message you got would have been attached to your reply showing them that they did indeed, Flirt with you.

| What is Flirt Option and how dose it work? Posted: 7/28/2012 7:20:04 AM | | I can I make the option of not receiving such messages. I have received several and at first I sent return messages asking the party's if they had indeed sent that. The first three I asked stated they didn,t and had no idea why it went to me. I hope that POF hasn't resorted to the same procedure that a lot of other personals have - that being a flirt, kiss, hug, smile, type messaging. I refuse to respond to anymore of these messages and whereas I can restrict my mail in other areas, I would like to have this practise barred from my inbox. | |

I think you are confusing the flirt messages with the "x user wants to meet you messages" which is a completely different feature that users tend not to realize they are triggering an email because in reality they are just clicking a button saying that they find your pic attractive.
The flirt message is really crystal clear to users that they are sending a message.
Either way you can not opt out of it.

Posted: 7/28/2012 3:13:08 PM | | Whether you want to state I am confused or not, or even if I am confused as to the mechanics behind the message, I want to correspond with a person who has by themself made a conscious decision that they want to correspond with me . Not POF or their vehicle's decising that becausd their finger touched a given key, whether it be by mistake or in error, I do not want to reply to any message unless it was specifically directed for me to reply to it. Most people get upset at a simple :" Hi, How are You, or How's it going, or Nice Day isn't it" Are you meaning to say thsat you don't care if the computer has decided that it wants to send a message to you on behalf of a person and not the person themself. I can't believe that anyone would actuallyy state that they are excited to hear a computer meassage purportedly fromanother user knowing that user has not asgreed to send it and say Wow, tthey want me. " I can send you lots of tthose df that makes your day, well rather I guess Ic an't because its a computer generated reply for women. But I do know a few womem on this site, if that is all it takes to satisfy you, I will ask them to send you some, then you can be a happy lifetime subcriber. You have to be kidding if you say that you really like hearing that someone wants to flirtt with you knowing full well that its not them thsat wants to, but a computer derciding for them. Then you are on the wrong site, because a lot of the other sites have those particular type of flirts, But, BUT, BUTTTT , the user must dcliberately make a conscious decision to put their finger on that key. If you are persisting in stsating the position you have advanced thus far, then you must be engaedwith the POF administration, because I would love to see a poll asking who is in favour of such responses

I would like to have this practice barred from my inbox. Then set your spam filter to block messages with "expressed an interest" or "wants to meet you" in the subject line.
POF does not send any messages without a conscious action by the user.
For the Flirts and Meet Me's I have received, I have a 100% rate of positive replies to messages I have sent in response. I have a 83% first date ratio with them, and a 60% second date ratio with them.
Choosing to ignore them is your prerogative and will be your loss.

| What is Flirt Option and how dose it work? Posted: 7/28/2012 3:37:33 PM | Hi Gary
I think you are talking about 2 different things...
Girls have a flirt option - which is pretty obvious if they send you a flirt, they are interested. They have to press the button to send a flirt.
The other is from the "meet me" section - this is where the confusion lies...
Yes and Maybe (both generate a message to you saying that they would like to meet you) -perhaps the ladies who said that they didn't click that option, had chosen "Maybe" not knowing that it would send the same message as a Yes.
My suggestion, is just keep in mind that the messages from "Meet Me" could be just a maybe, and keep your messages to the ladies light and casual to explore their level of interest.

The POF flirt feature works awesomely for me and apparently the user _campfires_ too. Best thing to do is if you don't want to speak to the women that conciously pressed the flirt button with you, just delete their message. Simple as pie. Surprised to hear though that anyone would waste an opportunity when so many folks complain about having no opportunity but each to their own I guess.
