| | Do any of you 40 somethings date 40 somethings?Page 1 of 1 | After a while on pof I am seeing a pattern that while I get plenty of notes, they are almost all from mid 30 somethings and younger.....
But the serious question for you 40 somethings - is it more desirable in general to date someone younger? Am I just fishing in the wrong pond here?

| Do any of you 40 somethings date 40 somethings? Posted: 7/25/2012 10:20:34 AM | Really, Collette? You are looking for a relationship, but you are not single. You put an upper cap on the age of men that may contact you, but not a lower cap so all of the young'uns are welcome. And you are surprised that the younger guys are contacting you? Maybe the 40 somethings are not really interested in holding your hand and help walk you through your pending divorce. Or willing to wine and dine you until you decide if your previous relationship is really over. If you are in the wrong pond, it may be because you've stocked the wrong fish in the pond. Perhaps you need to put an age range, say 39-51, on your profile to weed out the young guys.
As you wish!

I don't get 30s contacting me. 20's, 40's, 50s.
I'm quite divorced and single so...

Although, the OP never said she didn't want 30 somethings writing her, she merely asked why the older boys don't message her. One of my best friends is 44 and divorced after 18 years of marriage with no kids, and he has dated several women 10 years younger than him since his divorce. I'm not sure why he prefers them younger. Could be several reasons.

Posted: 7/25/2012 10:41:54 AM | Well - as far as not being single - I posted an explanation about that but here it is: in Louisiana you have to be separated a year before divorce can be granted if you have minor children so I don't have a choice about that "status" right now. I am honest and straight forward about that.

I'm thinking that 40 something men are choosing younger gals....

I'm thinking the 40 something guys you find attractive are also attractive to the 20 & 30 something gals in which case you're SOL. Competition is tough...

Personally I wouldn't limit who messages me and flattered no matter the age. The minute you change your restrictions to 40+I bet some perfect 39yr old match emails you and gets blocked which would suck for you. So you have to think about that. I suggest you start initiating first contact, you will have better luck.

Well of course - I am human after all - why would I imagine something less than rewarding ~ if I am imagining ? ~ If I am understanding you correctly that is.

flirt with guys in their 50's. You are almost there yourself. I used to - but with 3 boys under 10 I just didn't have much in common with any of the 50 + yr olds who contacted me. But I guess it couldn't hurt to open it again.

Sorry, collette, but that's a huge red flag.
Luckily, you're a woman, so most guys won't freak out when they find out that you're separated.
