In my personal experience i am most comfortable with 5 years of my age... that does not mean I would have overlooked someone outside those perameters ( when I was looking)
At 24 I would not say dating a 18 year is creepy, because not all 18 year olds are alike. There are sme who are very immature like 8 year olds mentally and some very mature. Who do you most connect with? that is what the bottom line is.
a rule some people use is to half your age and add 7 years to avoid creep factor... really depends tho YOU and what your comfortable doing. You would be wise to assess maturity and not just biological age in the mix.
for us older folks more to consider as to financial status, as love don't pay the rent... and many other things inclusing health status, amount of baggage, kids, debt, etc

If I was 24 I would have 21 set as the min because I loved to go clubbing and dance and drink.
I would of had maybe 29 to 32 as the top age. But thats just me. No one can set the top end except you and they may feel much different anyway.

I Ihad always kept mine wide open so anyone from the forums could contact me but... I finally had to set a max age as I had so many (true story) g5 to 80 year old women contacting me and it was creeping me out. I mean 79 and 80 women contacting me to date is just as creepy (to me) as 50 year old men contacting 19 and 20 year old women if you think about it.
I KNOW it shouldnt bother me but... Honestly it was. So thats why my age range looks so bizarre. I didnt know many 65 to 80 year old forum participants so I didnt think I was hurting many peoples feelings here.
Now some women my age wanting to DATE me may really get peeved over the no younger age cut off! Thinking I am chasing 20 year old women. (rolls eyes..)

Instead of focusing on finding someone in a certain age bracket, focus on finding someone you enjoy being with. So long as they are of a legal age, the only thing that should matter is the connection you can make with them... Even if they're what society would deem too old/too young. | |

I'm an old head on young shoulders always have been. I was never into getting so wasted I couldn't remember te night before but I do like to drink.
I'm 26 and although I have no age filter set so people from the forums can mail me, I wouldn't answer from men younger than 26 ( I always thought men were less mature than women)
It does come down to the individual really though.

I didn't believe it myself, but I just checked the logistics division of unwritten-acceptable-dating-rules-that-all-must-live-by-or-die organization.
I don't agree with them when it comes to me though. I date who I want to date and I don't care what anyone else thinks, because this is my life and no one controls me.
btw, I'm dating a 19 year old and she's awesome. We go to the same shows together, laugh together, great sex together, she's sweet, and honest. I'm 31.

Just wondering..where did you get the idea that it's creepy to date a younger girl? Did God tell you? Did people who care deeply about your own personal well-being tell you? Was this a non-verbal ideal instilled into you from our heavily socialized environment?

Posted: 7/26/2012 6:06:45 PM | Really depends on "life stage". I tend to date younger dudes cause I'm still a student. Once I'm looking to settle down and have a family and all that junk, I will probably stop dating 22-23 year olds, cause they aren't looking to settle down, generally. :p
