I don't see how the one account per member counts as I haven't used this in years and i have since changed my main email account.Whether or not you can see how it counts, it does. It's not the e-mail address that determines more than one account for a user. Your new profile is being deleted most likely because you have this one. The rules don't say 'no more then one active account' they say 'one account per user'. Either amend this one as you can change everything including the user name or delete this one before creating a new one.
