| | Do you see these photos the same as women do?Page 1 of 1 | | This isn't a question to judge my own photos. I just wanted to hear from the opposite gender, do you see the duck face, pursed lip photos as stupid as I do? Same goes for those myspace hold the camera above her head photos? Seriously, I think they look annoying by now but do you guys disagree? Are they attractive? I know the camera above the head angle shows a lot of cleavage, is that honestly what you guys want to see? Feel free to be blunt about the photos you like and dislike. | |

| Do you see these photos the same as women do? Posted: 7/27/2012 11:21:33 PM | I have yet to see one I like, even of people who I otherwise like. No wait. Back when I was still happily married, and my wife didn't despise me, I took a picture of her actually getting ready to kiss me. That one was my favorite, until she "evolved."
But mostly, I don't really mind that much. As one of many people who don't like ANY picture I've ever seen of myself, I refrain from getting too critical of others efforts. But the "duck face..." Never seen one that didn't look ridiculous.

I think women should have a full body picture of some kind, so we know what we are getting into. I also dislike large group photos as it requires me to "hunt" for their face. Also, as a side note, if you post group pictures we may be staring at someone else.

Yes, it's not really a flattering look for anyone. At the same time, I'm not going to eliminate someone from consideration based solely on facial expression.
As far as the "Myspace angle" goes, I think the emphasis on cleavage is just a happy side effect. Done properly, its' main advantage is that it does a good job of disguising body mass. If someone has all pictures from this angle, I assume they're a bit larger than the photos suggest.

| Do you see these photos the same as women do? Posted: 7/28/2012 12:33:38 AM | Duck face is pretty ridiculous...as is the top down cleavage shot...which I generally find to be used to "hide" the wide expanses below.
However, the most ridiculous type of photo is the multi-girl photo as the only photo with no indication of who the profile is actually for. It amazes me how frequently this actually occurs.

| Do you see these photos the same as women do? Posted: 7/28/2012 1:42:47 AM | I'm a photographer of women. I don't see anything wrong or right about cleavage shots or those overhead shots. I started using cell phones as a backup on shoots, where I used my Canon digital and Nikon F60. Because I work with a myriad of graphics programs I could take great pics with my cell depending on the lighting.
I love to photograph everything in the AMs. Women really like me to shoot them nude and completely trust that I won't exploit those images. I've never given them their pics because they let me shoot them for me exclusively. No one's asked, I haven't offered.
I dislike it when women post the blatant sexual photos of them in lingerie and it's easy to tell how sexual some people are. And that's okay because women get really horny and are competitive, I get it. I try to compliment only the best pics I see on this site without making the user feel like I'm an authority or they are obligated to respond back.
I love a lady with good fashion sense, heels, the right shades, hats, fingers, someone with class who knows better than to post themselves holding a wine glass or mojito.

Lol, Igor...What did she "evolve" into? A xenomorph or something.

| Do you see these photos the same as women do? Posted: 7/28/2012 2:23:32 AM | | Yes the duckface is silly, but I guess that's kind of the point of it. The girls I know that do it know it's silly, but it's a way for them to show their humorous and cute side. I don't see the harm of it in that regard unless someone really thinks it's really sexy. | |

| Do you see these photos the same as women do? Posted: 7/28/2012 3:02:17 AM | | Ad's .. matters not for female/male..making the best angle to "show what is there " or attraction. Look at the TV ad's offer about clothing...vehicles..! Pouting or pursed lips is to make them look like they want to show. Being on line for sometime now..I've seen just about every angle that a phone camera could show..some photo's are a totally mistakes..others showing "exactly what they have to offer" . You may not enjoy what or how they post there ad's ..but this is a "Dating Site " ! | |

That's about how I feel about it. It's kind of childish. My girls use to do those all of the time for myspace. I suppose I still look at those and the mirror shots as something a 16 year old would do. I guess it's OK until you can get a better picture, but really, go out with a friend and make a day of shooting some photos. It can be fun activitiy.
As far as the cleavage shots go, I'm not sure if it's just me or what, but you see so much cleavage these days you practically become numb to it. With all of the breast/body enhancements available, it doesn't really reflect the end product when you are naked in the light.
I've come to put little stock in the pictures. My last date I accepted an invitation with out even looking at her photo. I went into it expecting the same results as the previous 100 dates. Absolutely nothing. She wowed me.
It's all a crap shoot. You just have to be willing to have some faith and keep putting forth the effort.

| Do you see these photos the same as women do? Posted: 7/28/2012 7:29:21 AM | | My brother in law & I make fun of our young adult kids since they have such pics posted. For me it's immature & silly. I do think the young do it for the cleavage shot though. Been many years since I looked a pic & said BOOBIES! How bout those self taken bathroom mirror pics? C'mon, it's 2012 already, get a friend to snap a few pics for you.... | |

| Do you see these photos the same as women do? Posted: 7/28/2012 7:41:47 AM | Just be yourself in your photos in my honest opinion. What you 'display' will be more likely to attract guys according to what they're after, i.e. if you go for cleavage shots you're going to get those guys who were just impressed by some tits lol.
But I really think the best bet is to just go with photos that show a side of your personality, even if it's just a very simple and 'plain' side (though what is 'plain' other than an arbitrary label?). When I personally look at a girl's profile I'll obviously gauge physical attraction at first, but then straight after that my primary interest is in finding out about who she is and what she is like as a person, rather than copping cleavage shots or her trying to project a certain personality according to what she might think a guy wants. One thing I learned a while ago is to just say '**** it' to trying to portray whatever it is the opposite sex supposedly wants - I was just going to be myself and put up what *I* wanted to, knowing that that had the most chance to attract the right kind of partner for me anyway.
Anyway, beyond that... good luck :).
P.S. Sorry some parts didn't make sense until I fixed the wording, when I type quickly I sometimes end up writing different words to the ones I was thinking, lol.

Feel free to be blunt about the photos you like and dislike. I'll look at a cleavage shot if it's in front of me, but it wouldn't motivate me to make contact. More likely, it would deter unless it's pretty discreet. I guess you could say it attracts my attention (momentarily), but not necessarily my admiration.
I like natural sexiness. Posed snapshots, self-taken, rarely capture it. I think duck-faces are cute. But the women are usually half my age or less and I'd probably think they were cute anyway. Honestly I don't care. It's an internet phenomena.

| Do you see these photos the same as women do? Posted: 7/28/2012 8:30:48 AM | OP: I didn't know what all these "duck lips" references were, that I'd been reading, until I finally came across some gal's profile picture on here with a caption like "Mandatory 'duck lips' photo" or something like that. Then I understood... and yes, it's REALLY STUPID.
Oh... and I'm getting kind of burned out on the vertical, holding-the-smartphone-overhead shots. I don't understand them.
Timers. You people with all these fancy smartphones don't have TIMERS on them? Back in the old days, when people actually used CAMERAS, many of them (SLRs and DSLRs) had timers on them. You set up the camera "wherever," set the timer, put yourself in front of it in a semi-normal pose, and waited for your picture to be taken. These smartphone things don't have TIMERS? Do you know how DUMB it is, from a photographer's perspective, to see pictures of people who have to use mirrors for self portraits? The "outstretched arm" thing has gotten WAY OLD too.
Really, just a normal smile would be appreciated.

No. Really... that's all you bring to the table? Your ___s? Nevermind character, nevermind brains, nevermind poise, class, integrity, decency, honor, life passions... you feel the only thing you've got going for you, the thing you really need to use to "promote" yourself in your profile is your ___s? Photos show who you are; are your ___s who you are? Come on.
