I haven't been used like this, although if you have an interesting story to tell then you might try a thread I started about Russian Mail Order Brides.

Depends on which forum I'm posting in but in this case I'm serious! Check it out, I think it was a thread in the "dating experiences" forum.

ktown... yep. happened once about a year ago... started to get suspicious when she said she was in love after about 6 or 7 e-mails. replied to a yahoo personals profile (stay away from yahoo, btw). went to a russian investigations web site, and i found some of the exact letters she wrote me in their list of scam letters. fortunately, hadn't sent her any money - not that i ever intended too.

I think that this stuff happens to a lot of people but some are too embarrased to admit they fell for it.Thank God you didn't lose any money...I wanted to help the guy out (wheelchair, etc) and wow was I ever a sucker...I guess I thought disabled people were way above the nonsense of using people...knowing what it's like to be the "underdog" sometimes...I was so shocked that he used his handicap to sucker someone (me)in! Well, every stupid thing that happens in life is a learning experience I guess...even though I'm $3,000 poorer now!

yikes! sorry to know that happened to you... those stories are few, but it still makes it tough to trust anything on-line doesn't it?

Yup-pretty scarey and it DOES shake your trust in meeting anyone again...but there ARE decent people out ther who have gone through WORSE stuff...and every guy out there doesn't have an axe in his back pocket...I hope not anyway!!! Also...I've heard awful stories from guys who have been used, ripped off and had their hearts broken...so it's not just a "guy uses girl" world out there. You take care...thanks for wring...I hope that you keep in touch!

I have met some via net on real from other countries and at least two of those cases were something else they had told they are (a Swede turning to be a guy from Marocco; and a Greek who was 10-15 older than in the pictures, and also other details were so and so :p He shortened A LOT during the flight, poor guy ;) But it was just funny. After a little chat I just returned home and did not see them anymore.
But I want to tell you a real story. Some years ago I was on another dating site. There was a 36 years old guy from Greece (in reality he was from Netherlands, originally, and we found out later: instead of 36 he was 63). I was writing with man when by accident a real Greek friend of mine using the same site told me about an American woman who was angry with a Greek guy. - The same guy... My Greek friend took me and this woman together and... heh, to make a long story short: putting a bit effort on this business we finally found out many women from different countries... he had made a date with these women (I am jealous, he did not promise to meet me :( :p on the same date. It could be a case "who cares" but he had really been fooling the women, and spending hours on daily basis with them on net and on phone. E.g. there was a very decent sounding lady from NY who had already made arrangements in order to receive the guy for a bit longer visit. And believe me, that woman did not sound stupid at all! --- Mental abuse? --- Eh, we collected together the ladies who wanted to participate the game, and played a little game against him. In the end he started to mix the places where to meet... to a Hungarian he was telling "CU in NY in two weeks" etc. And we were chatting with him at the same time hoping him to get at least a painful cramp :) Childish but funny. - And I honestly felt bad for that one American woman who really did not deserve to be treated this way. I hope she got some consolation when she was the one who was after all controlling the situation.

I seem to be attracting the Turkish men. I've had three who seem to be looking for immigration papers from there. One from Kosovo too.

Heard quite some stories about cheaters on dating sites.
It's scary. Anyone can be fooled.
No matter how bright you are, there will always be a creap smarter.
I didn't like to read about that man from the Netherlands (I'm Dutch too) but I know: cheaters are everywhere.
I wonder what the fun is in abusing people.

Wow-be careful-a few years ago a friend of mine hooked me up with a Romanian guy-cute,,,intelligent etc...when we broke up (he hit me once) he kept stalking me eveywhere i went...he wanted to marry me for "love"! Yep...the whap to the head showed me how much he "loved" me...but after he said that's just "normal" in his country...men rule and women should just be happy that we have a man who is working and comes home (when he wants to)???lol...anyway...after I was hit by him,the police were involved and after a few times in court he was deported.PLEASE take care of yourself when it comes to men from places like this...their reality is different from ours and a lot of these guys hate the fact that women have actual LIVES here! It's almost a jealousy thing...and remember...in some of those countries women are treated like property owned by their husbands...

You b*tch, You you thought that you got me deported!! i have looked for you evers ince and you are ****ing dead when i get you coz am right back!! Hey just kidding don't go off calling the cops Ktown
Anyway there is this gal from russia claimed to have read my profile from some russian site and her heart brightened instantly. She sent me a photo (which was clearly from a magazine). Now i have never subscribed to any russian dating site and i threw each word that she wrote right back in her mouth, she never wrote again.
There is this one currently bothering me, she wrote the first time and she told me that she lives in the states, and she was telling me how she can get me to the states. These scums have reaped off many africans as many want to go to the states, i asked her where she got my email address and my contacts and why she was interested in knowing if i wanted her children, will tell you when she responds. Last year a couple of friends and i almost got reaped off thru a scum of this nature, inviting us to some global conference. U gotta watch out, you may be sent a pic of your own sister or brother with someone claiming that they are him or her

My experience? I went to the Philippines to meet a girl. She told me she was 22. But when I got there she was at least 50! It turned out she was using her daughters photo :-((. But anyway I was only out my plane fare and the money I sent her. But anyway Manila was great for a single guy!!

wow! got a great one over the last few days... i keep sending her notes back saying i've been scammed before, but she keeps writing anyway. each one has a picture attached of a beautiful russian girl.

here's the good part - she's 30 and claims to be a heart surgeon! her last e-mail described the seriousness of an operation she had had to perform that day! and wonderful it was to hear from me - brought back from the edge of depression for the day. well, at least she won't be able to claim poverty and ask me for money!

Ktowngirl,

Why would someone such as yourself be looking at such sites ?

With your profile & looks, I'd expect it to be easy to find a date......

I get a lot on this other site. All from the Ukraine, they have the biggest scam process I have ever seen on the net. Just look it up in the search and you'll see a site called Russian Scams. It has a listing of over 8000 known women who make a living from scams. Personally when they contact me I find it amusing. I wonder if they know how lame they are, they can give out some very funny letters LOL

Only experience I have had was about 4 months ago. A Romanian male IM'd me on AOL and was wanting to marry an American woman immediately for citizenship in exchange for $2000 cash down to get the process started and $500/mo for the duration of the marriage, (and a few other pathetic extras) --and file a divorce in a couple of years, because his student Visa expired almost 18 months ago. He is said he was in Reno, Nevada. Evidentally, all of the Nevada women turned him down before he started working on Arizona's women. "Gee," wonder why....
