| | Pre-Valetine's day Single Mingle - Feb 8, 2013 at 7pmPage 1 of 1 | Hello! I am hosting a pre-Valentine's day get together in the Beaverton/Portland area. Thanks to the large number of interested members, Nicolette808 will be co-hosting at our secondary site.
This is the first time I'm hosting an event like this, so I'm keeping it simple: Show up, get a name tag and then go talk to others with a name tag. Another memeber, AtomicLegs, has suggested some conversation starter activities, so you will be welcome to take part if you want something a little more structured.
The event will start at 7pm at the Honey Toast Cafe. Around 7:30pm, Ickabod's Tavern will act as a secondary site. They are right next door so it will be easy to go back and forth between the sites. The event at the cafe ends around 11pm, but Ickabod's will be open for a few more hours.
There's no cover charge and there's room for about 150 people so come on by at your convenience. Food and drinks are at your own expense.
It's not to late to tempt Cupid before the big V-day!

Posted: 1/31/2013 10:26:11 AM | As of this posting, there are 120 men and 76 women. That's a 3 to 2 ratio. Not too bad.
The real problem is that I was not planning on this many people. I'm really excited to see people so interested in this event. The Cafe, at max capacity, can handle 50 people, so I'm going to see if any near by pubs are willing to take the overflow...

Posted: 1/31/2013 11:30:49 AM | in my experience hosting events down in Eugene the girls are more likely to show up if they say they will and bring friends .... expect your ratio to be closer to 50 /50 ...

Posted: 2/1/2013 1:09:44 PM | I have considered changing venues, but I don't know any place that can handle 230+ people without renting. Most pubs/clubs/restaurants/etc in the Beaverton area really aren't meant for this large of a gathering.
I think I have convinced the pub next door to help, but I'll keep you posted. If so, people will have the option to get drinks, but it would be appreciated if people don't get drunk.
NOTE: Drinking is not a part of this event. It will be the individual's responsibility to drink responsibly and not to drive if they are intoxicated. | |

But the good news is that the bar next door has agreed to be the overflow site. The name is Ickabod's Tavern. They can handle another 100 people.
I figure people won't all show up at the same time, so we should be able to handle 200 or so people over the course of the night.
The plan will be to show up to the cafe, and get a name tag first. From 7pm to 7:30pm, the event will be at the cafe. When the group starts getting big enough, we will start heading over to the Tavern. | |
